  1. That is the great thing about a quality hand-poured candle. They throw as well or even better but there is no soot visible on the jar after burning it to the bottom.
  2. Hostess gets a free 16oz candle once they hit $200. After $350 they get 15% of their net sales in free candles. They also get a free candle for each booking-but not until the party is held. I don't do parties anymore because I have 3 salesgirls and am adding three more next month. All of their hostesses seem very happy with their earnings.
  3. I have only done container candles. I offer 50% in my larger size (which is around wholesale price). They have to collect money as they sell, pay me full amount (as assurance) and up to three weeks later they get candles and their portion of the sales.
  4. I buy as many of these as she can get in a large envelope (to save on shipping). http://cgi.ebay.com/200-SHRINK-WRAP-BAGS-Size-4-x-6-Perfect-For-Soap-Making_W0QQitemZ9520658865QQcategoryZ50955QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Then I cut them in half, pop in a votive, tape it shut using my label (1/2 of an 8160 address label) shrink it and pop the warning on the bottom. Looks very professional.
  5. I have an 80 lb melter for regular use, but I use a roaster for dipping bears. Melts wax just fine. Been using the same one for about two years-it is Hamilton Beach.
  6. I'm going. I'm bringing a friend so we will be having a nice leisurely dinner Friday night. Hubbies are going to the Football Hall of Fame while we are at the gathering. We are trying to find something fun to do Saturday night. Any suggestions? Ginger
  7. I would love to see pics and ideas for organizing workspace.
  8. At this temp it can also light your wicks;)
  9. I see that Eco wicks are a favorite with this wax. I have never tried these so I would like feedback on other wicks. I have read other posts and mostly they are about the wax itself. I would like feedback on what wicks you have tried. I currently use my own customized soy/paraffin blend with zinc wicks. I am trying to get away from blending my own and am planning to test this wax. I do love my zinc wicks though and hope there is good feedback with these. Thanks, Ginger
  10. I use the clear ones from there for body wash and they work well.
  11. It might help if you think about it this way...... When you go to Walmart or your local grocery store, do they charge you tax on your actual purchase or on what you "might" have spent if everything was full price? You are the same as any other retailer, only charge tax on the actual sale.
  12. I exchanged emails with him too and they are not located in Peoria. Wish they were, Niles is much further-2 1/2 hours-from me than Peoria.
  13. My experience is that if a candle is going to smoke/soot, how could it totally escape the jar and go straight to your walls? Check your furnace and air returns. It is more likely that is the problem than a candle with no soot on the jar.
  14. Just realized it was you in both posts. I don't pay much attention to names, only posts. You said in the post I quoted that Old Virginia was the only wood wick company you had found and that you had looked, so I was trying to be helpful and let you know of another that had been discussed on an earlier thread.
  15. I don't know anything about them. I was just responding to the note by LRC06301983 that they hadn't been able to find any other wood wick candles besides Old Virginia. I figured they missed the earlier thread and thought I'd share the info.
  16. http://daynadecker.nespra.com/ Another wood wick chandler from a previous thread.
