  1. Those are awesome Christina - Good Job!!! What wax are you using???
  2. That is amazing - I'm going to have to try......
  3. Personally I prefer to use the 4045H from Candlewic, but I have made some pretty darn good rustics with some IGI 4625 that I had lying around. I know that it's a pre-blend that requires no additives, but I went ahead and added an additional 1tbs/pp of stearic, and have had some very good results. If anyone is wondering, I added the stearic to try and produce more frosting. Seemed to help somewhat, but that may just be a coincidence.....
  4. OMG Scented!!! You're not kidding are you?!?!? Come on now Girl, 'fess up........ Enquiring minds want to know more about this "technique".
  5. Oh, the image in my head..... Will I ever sleep tonight?!?!?!?
  6. 9am?!?!? Well, it is just lime juice...... with a little tequila........ and a drop of two of triple sec!!!! I stick my head in from time to time, just to see what's happening, and whether there is anything interesting going on. Haven't had much time to mess around with wax lately, but I feel the urge coming back..... Looking foward to all your posts - I miss all the old names.....
  7. Looks like all the "old regulars" ......... I like it!!!!! Welcome back Kitty.
  8. I don't think you can buy them...... I tried some thin walnut planking that my husband uses to build his model ships. Seemed to work okay, but it did smoke a fair bit. I never got round to finishing the testing - wood wicks are not something I see in my future candlemaking. I was also going to try some other planking, ie oak, balsa and mahogany(too expensive). If you were inclined to try, I would suggest your local hobby shop, and ask for wood planking. Let us know if you try, and take pics of your tests.
  9. I had someone ask me if I was able to make candles with the "Tabu" fragrance. Does anyone know if it's available, or its dupe, and where I can buy it. Thanx :smiley2:
  10. You're right Henry. The picture is WAY worse than the actual candle, although it is still horrendous!! For some unknown reason the mottles always look different with the browns, almost like starbursts, and not the cloudy mottles that I get with other colors. Like I said, it makes no sense to me, and I've just given up on making any brown candles.......
  11. I love them!!!! Well done.......
  12. Candlewic is awesome!!! Everytime I've emailed them with a question they've been more than helpful, and more importantly, they listen to their customers......
  13. Just thought I'd add my experience with mottles to this discussion....... I have never, I repeat never, been able to get a decent mottle with brown dye!!! Not with liquid, not with chips, not with dye block. I have no idea why, and I'm sure there is no real scientific reason, but there has never been a good brown mottle in my house. I also tried the remelting thing, and sometimes it improved the look, but nothing that I would dare claim as my own! Here is a sample of my brown mottle - and this is one of the better ones....... reminds me of something I only saw when my kids were babies
  14. I have used 1343 for both types of candles, and most "multi purpose" waxes can be used..... For rustics you would add about 3tbsp per pound of stearic, and pour cool. Adding 1tsp of vybar will give the candle a creamy, pastel appearance. Pour at around 185.
  15. Awesome candles Top! Not only do your mottles look great, but they burn beautifully.........
  16. I know what you're thinking Henryk :rolleyes2 ............. Nice candles Steve, and that red rocks!!!!
  17. I adore those - they kind of look like granite..... Good Job
