  1. Thank you, I thought they were soap but just wondered what impact and significance salt has on the bar.
  2. Pardon my ignorance, but what is a salt bar?
  3. Welcome, enjoy, sometimes it is two steps forward and several back but persistance is the key, research, experiment, test. Great fun and such a sense of achievement and self esteem when you create.
  4. I make my scrub much more simply, I just use sweet almond oil white sugar for soft exfolliant or brown sugar I use what ever essential oil I favour on the day I make it. Love these scrubs.
  5. I to use Aussie candle supplies, being in Perth it is a short 20 minute drive for me so no shipping costs.
  6. Thank you all for your answers. I had thought that reusing for B n B products would be a no no. As for container candles, for testing that is a good idea had not thought of that. Have a nice day.
  7. I only make products for myself, friends, family. I was wondering, do you reuse containers you have used for your products, ie body butters, sugar scrubs etc? I personally don't, I use predominatley Pet containers. If you do, how do you clean them? Are you concerned about contamination and sterility issues? I certainly do not reuse the jars from my candles. Despite warning labels and education to my friends, they all want to give me the jars back, after telling me they have burnt then all day long, and similiar horror stories. Even my own personal use candles I do not reuse, being concerned the glass may have weakend even though they are candle grade glass.
  8. Think you have come up with an excellent phrase there. Congrats
  9. Sorry Susan, not a scent I have tried yet. Hope someone is able to help you.
  10. Positive praise is a good virtue. So very sad to hear about your nephew, my sympathy to you and all your loved ones.
  11. If I was going to buy some, I would prefer a larger jar.
  12. Oh dear, I just read the link to your site, that Scented posted. I cannot believe you wrote that you didn't get burnt from soy candles??????????? Ok, so you are going to be offended too by my comment. How on earth can you not be burnt by a whole shelf load of burning candles dropping on you? If I was looking at your site and read that comment, I would view it in one of two ways, an intellegent person would realise that not to be burnt is rubbish. A vunerable person who believes everything they read, would purchase in this false believe. In this climate you might just have a massive law suite heading your way. Food for thought about this page, I would hope!
  13. It is easy to be upset when you are requesting suggestions and opnions on something you have obviously spent much time and effort on. I agree though, I do not see anyones comments as being rude. If you ask for comments people are being helpful and truthful on how they view, interpret and see things. Take the good with the bad and at least consider other peoples suggestions. You said you had learnt much from this forum, you should have therefore thought you may not like some opnions which may be forthcoming.
  14. When I had my issue, as I said it took ages for her to admit there was a problem, she said they buy thier metros from China and that they could not check every box. I gave up, but I think the attitude that unless I returned the whole carton they would not replace the defective jars, is crock. I had already told her that I did not realise there was an issue until I actually poured the candle, so hello I could not return the jars. Did you contact them regarding your broken jars?
  15. How frustrating for you. I have not poured any candles for awhile now, and still have wick stickums in supply. I had an issue awhile back to that I unfortunately was not happy with the response. It was not David but his wife I was dealing with. My issue was related to what I thought was a defective metro jar, half of the box I recieved did not have an even bottom. His wife was actually quite rude telling me she used that particular size jar and had never had an issue, told me unless I returned the whole carton, then tough. It took quite awhile for her to admit that it was occasionaly an issue and admitted the problem was real. I felt like saying get st................ed but given I am in Perth and just a short drive away. I ended up living with the problem as I do not sell my candles. There is no way I would sell a candle made with uneven candle if I did sell. I think your point is valid I would keep up with the complaint. I know they are very overworked these days and they work in cramped conditions, they may have the market but customer service should be paramount. What a lot of crock, they should stick, end of story.
  16. Your packaging is so different, you have gone to so much effort. Unique and beautiful
  17. I wonder if the colour was not mixed properly in to the wax, I have done that in the early days and achieved a similiar result, lol
  18. It never ceases to amaze me at the quality of products people here produce. I have just started making HP and yet to achieve results with colours, lol it is like candle making, testing testing to get it right. Beautiful
  19. I like your name and theme. Sorry have to agree though, I would like to see your label "hit me" in the eye more. To many colours may be, if your background colour was a more neutral colour may be the rest would stand out more. Feel it is all a bit busy at the moment, remember you also have the colour of your soap which adds another colour to the over all effect. Don't be disheartened, just needs a bit more tweeting I think.
  20. I would be at a loss to even think where to begin for a business name. I think I agree Little Bee Garden is a sweet name.
  21. Thanks soapnmomma, yes I really do think that is the problem. Next batch I am going to make is going to be much larger to hopefully alleviate the problem, and I will keep a closer eye on it so I do not let the dry bits develop.
  22. Searching through past threads see there are several possible causes for the white spots in my soap. I am thinking it is possibly the dry bits of the mixture that were on the edge of my mix. It is not a problem per sae anyway.
  23. Good on you for making a stand. Great that her former employer gave them the boot. Well done.
  24. I had not made soap in >20 years, previously had only used tallow. I have been itching to try soap making again having seen so many lovely recipes here. So I had all of the ingredients for Darwins basic soap recipe except for the Palm Kernal, so I used tallow. I did it HP which again had never done this. I love the final result, so moisturising, beautiful soap, I did not use fragrance or colour. Not sure what I did wrong though as I have little white lumps in it, which have not changed it useability but obviously I did do something wrong. I had tripled the recipe but since I used my crock pot which has a very wide base the mixture barely covered the bottom. Love hot process, wonderful way of making soap. Thanks in advance for your advice regarding my white lump issue.
