  1. New to making candles, but been making Tarts for a little while. I am finding that the humidity is killing me. From what I have been reading, and some great advice I was given, Soy needs to be handled in very even atmosphere, like 73deg temps, little humidity, no breeze, etc... I am sure that there are many experienced chandlers here that can answer this more definitively. Renee:cheesy2:
  2. I am trying Fall scents. I got Cranberry woodland spice Harvest Spice Home Sweet Home Maple Pecan Apple strudel Cinnamon Bun So far, these scents smell great oob. I am a little concerned bx they dont seem as strong as I would of hoped. I will see. I guess you can never tell how a scent is going to throw when its hot. I am waiting, not so paitently, to burn these. I use Snowtop 100% Soy, and they reccommend 48hr cure time. Its the easiest wax I have used so far. I will keep everyone posted!!! Hope with good results!!
  3. Hi!! I am very new here, and to candle making, but I am doing really well so far. Its all of the great advice, and research here!!! This forum has given so much info, that I swear it made it so much easier to test, and have an idea about what these candles should look like!! LOL!!! Anyway, I have been making Tarts, and also making 4oz jelly jar, and 8oz wide mouth jelly jar candles. I cant keep them in stock!! I tried the 16oz, but they didnt sell as well. I am sure that there are many more experienced people here that can give you more great info. Good luck!! Renee
  4. Tried them bx of the great review someone posted here. Ordered yesterday, and have confirmation from UPS that delivery is due today!!! I live in New England, so very close, but its nice to see that they packaged and shipped the same day they got my payment.... Will post with reviews of the scents too Renee
  5. Congrats on the new account!! It didnt just fall in your lap though, you worked hard, and you must have some great products!! Renee
  6. Just wanted to say thank you again for all of the help!! I did pour at a warmer temp, with a slight slushy state, and the candles came out beautiful!!! Flat nice tops, and a nice creamy look. They have an awesome cold throw so far. Cant wait to try them!! LOL!! Thanks again everyone!! Renee
  7. "Watery Grits" is right on!!! LOL!!! I am going to take some suggestions, and really wait until it gets a little cloudy, and slight film. I am trying again!! I dont really mind how it looks so much. I figure its soy, and I am not going for the perfect candle. Just one that I like, and maybe give as gifts, etc... I really love tarts, and I thought I might save some $$$ if I made some myself. I am no where near even thinking about a business venture. I just want to learn how to make a good candle. Thanks again for all of the help!! I have learned so much from this forum!! It is great!! Renee
  8. Thanks so much for all of the thoughts!! I have only heated the wax to 175 degrees, added the fo, mixed for a long time, then let it cool to about 100 dg, the slushy stage as the directions said. I poured an 8oz candle with hemp wick from NG, the 1400 size, and then with the left overs I poured some tarts. The tops are nice and level on everything, it just looks weird. Not a creamy const. I dont really care, if it will still have a good scent throw. I did use the max scent though, at 1.5oz for the 1 lb melted. They have a great cold throw so far. Snowtop is the 1st soy wax I have used, so I didnt really have anything to compare it to. I have just been using local craft store wax. Thanks again for all of the help!!! I am so new at this that everything helps!!! Renee
  9. Hi everyone!! Very new to candle making. Tried my 1st batch yesterday, with Snowtop 100% soy wax. Followed directions, and added the full load of 1.5oz FO to the 1lb of wax. I made 2 small 4oz jj candles for something easy. The tops are flat, and wick stayed centered, but the wax itself looks almost grainy(sp?). If that makes any sense!! LOL!!! I was hoping for a more creamy look. I havent burned yet. The directions for this part. wax suggests waited about 48hrs for cure time. I also used NG's hemp wick. I was thinking that maybe I should try KY container blend. There seems to be a lot of good reviews of this. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Renee
