  1. I have been using 6006 since I first started making candles. I knew it was the wax for me from the get go. It's all personal prefrence. Not everyone likes it just like any other wax out there. I have tried and tested many other types of wax but just keep coming back to 6006. I also love using palm wax. My favorite is Candlewics container palm. The feather palm they sell is also great.

And ooops I just realised you are talking about melts lol I like PB mixed with CB excel for that and sometimes feather palm. I don't make alot of melts though so I guess I'm not much help but rambled on anyway lol

  2. Candlescience has a pretty good straight coconut. I usually use it to blend with other scents but it works well in 6006.

WSP has a really nice Carribian(sp?) Coconut that throws and smells great but it's pretty expensive.

I love Coconut but it seems hard for me to find a good one.

  3. My favorite clear base is the one from AH/RE previously sold by KY) Most of my Room and Linen sprays turn out nice and clear......depends on the FO. I have a few that stay cloudy no matter what.

Another great base is Natures Garden Odor Eliminator base but unfortunatly it's not clear even before putting FO in it. It has great holding power ....seems to last a long time

Another good one is from CMS but imo KYs is better.

  4. I have a reply "Would like a sample of the paper caps only, for my 3" diameter candle jar."

Our paper caps do not fit candle jars. Our tubes are made to a specific Outside diameter to assure a snug fit.

I requested the same as you Sharon and got the same exact reply from that guy.

I only wanted a few samples of the lids for Status jars and I also sometimes use the Whisper jars which use the same size lid as the Status. I do love the flat glass lids but they are pricey and heavy.

  5. Great idea on starting this thread Lauren!! And yes.......there are quite a few of us animal lovers here on the board :)

I also forgot to add to my list of animals that I have a Chipmunk. Saved the little guy over a year ago when my husband saw him spinning around in circles on the sidewalk in front of my house. He was just a baby at the time and could tell his was totally petrified......maybe got seperated from his mom.....I don't know. I got 2 cages and connected them together because they seem to need lots of space to move around.

He is now getting his little cubby all fixed up and ready to hibernate so I don't really see him much lately.

I did try and let him go 2 days after finding him since he is not a domestic critter but he wouldn't go......he walked out of the cage.....freaked out and ran back in the cage soooo he has a forever home with me :)

  6. What's uour name? Diane

    How old are you? 53

Where do you live? South Jersey right across the river from Philly (Deb? I wonder if we are practically neighbors?)

How long making candles/soap whatever? Been making candles/ air freshener products for over 3 years

Are you married? Any kids? Was married for over 20 years, got divorced and 7 years later we got back together. We are still actually divorced but I still call him my husband, just don't have that peice of paper that says so yet lol Have 2 daughters ages 32 and 28 and a 9 year old grandson

How did you get started making candles/soap/ whatever? I have always loved crafts and just decided to read up on candlemaking. Found this website.........kept reading and reading and learning from all the great people here and went with it.

If candlemaking isn't your primary job, what do you do? I work part time at Petsmart because I love animals and needed some extra money.

Anything else we should know? I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. If I had the room in my home and the money to afford it I would have lots more!
