  1. Hi,at www.snowdriftfarms.com they have a crafters base that you can mix with water or not and it can hold the fo at high rate.also they have instructions for you so you don't waste any but it is more expensive than most bases you see, on the other hand it stays on you for 24 hours.I use it,easy to use -just follow their guide lines, that gives you several different ways to mix the base.I hope this helps.
  2. boy,do I hear ya!At the farmers market 2 weeks ago,a woman set up next to me selling yard sale stuff. She seen all my business goings on and later said(I am going to dowhat you do)tell me how and I'll be selling the stuff next weekend:shocked2:Can you believe it.I said ,not in my area.NO,I did not help her/I said turn on your lap top sitting there and go for it.
  3. I agree with the others. How long has your soap cured?I am from the old school and still test my soap with a sliver on the tongue-if it burns-it is not ready. When the the silver tastes like just soap no burn or sting-your ready to go.If it burns or stings your tongue,it will burn your eyes! But I also test with the ph paper to be sure. The tongue test has proven it self over and over. Can you tell I have made soap for ever.:laugh2:I make very mild soap that does'nt sting your eyes and conditions the skin.
  4. I lucked out got a corner booth,so traffic has to pass by me twice.candle tarts, sell like crazy! In clean scents-clean cotton-country clothes line-sun and sand-any kind of drink scents-whiskey river-kentucky bourbon and etc.Only 5 candles sold!My chunkie tarts in jars is a sell out in any scent.toilet paper wax potpouri is a big seller.Since mid of april I have sold 1000 tarts, not counting the jars and clam shells and other goodies I make.Floating candles are a hit!I can't make enough and in any scent and assorted sizes.I am 1 of 5 candle people there at the farmers type market or flea market.
  5. Yes,I like htp wicks too and I love my comfort blend except this last batch. Thanks so much for your info.
  6. Thanks, thats what I thought also.I wanted someone elses input to be sure I am on the right track.Have you had any problems with cs wax?
  7. I have another question-the price of the wax reflects the quality of the wax? I have been checking other suppliers out and I see the price of comfort blend is a wide range-from $37 a 25 pound box to 63.00 for the same size box.Huh? I wanted to order close to w.va. but now the price has me confused,if it is in deed a consistant wax for the price ,great-if it is the same wax for the price then ,it does'nt matter where I get the wax-right?
  8. I thank your inputs and I am going to change supplier. The supplier just can't come up with answer for this batch. In the beginning,Iwas told my recipe was perfect, then it was where I got my scent(I got it there)then it was wick problem,But I used every wick I had,51 zink-60 zink-htp s lots of sizes-cd-eco-rrds-lx-low smoke zinks-I did not have trouble wicking it-no cold scent and no real hot,the wax did not appear to be evenly mixed to me,the out side edges were more firm than the middle and just felt odd to me.But this last answer just did it for me,220 f I knew was to high. Then I was told maybe I should change waxes!well I have complained enough about it,I am so disguised,I wasted all of the wax-nothing to show for it but bad candles that after months of sitting ,you can't smell them, even my tester people have the same problem with them,so it is not my candle nose.
  9. I was told by a candle supplier to add my scent to my wax 20 degrees higher than the recommended pouring temp, that my comfort blend,I should add my scent at 220 f.I thought the scent would flash off that high? I love my comfort blend but the last batch I got would not scent,so I have been e-mailing the company and have had no real help, except I suggestions-like using to much fo,not enough fo,wrong wick, and etc,the last answer was to add scent 220f and that not all batches of wax are the same,to test ,I know that! I mean if a candle with 12% load will not scent a room 6 +4 room, some thing is wrongYou know comfort blend, you could"nt make a bad candle if you tried. Thanks
  10. Hello,I have been doing markets for several years and it is work.I think what I have learned most is keep your display simple, not too fancy or they'll pass you by(thinking you are to costly). My clients tell me if my table is too full,it is confusing to them.So spread it out.If you listen and take notes your clients will filll you in what they think.Thats how I l discovered to set my table up.I also use a one level shelf in the middle of my table for my center peices and larger items on top.It gives me extra room with out over crowding my table. One other tip, clients likes to see your face behind the table,so don't set to low.And never lower your price just because you are bugged about it.I get- well,Darline sells her tarts for a .33 cents,my answer is-thats where you should buy them then, they always end up buying from me at my price.I also offer whole sale prices on tarts and etc if they buy in quanilty.I did not think it would work at first, but heck yeah,it does, and you get more money per sale that way.I hope I have helped some.:highfive:
  11. HI,have you used your wilton mold long?I used them too until-the the molds smelled better than my tarts. The mold after some use seemed to absorb the scent from the tart and the tarts did not scent.weird!changed back to my old mold and the my tarts are wonderful again. Is it just me?
  12. I know they go to the soap gatherings and set up a booth, they may be on the road right now.
  13. no,not exactly. The ones I am talking about are kind of like a pecan pie glaze type
  14. yes, that work great as well as my print works-go to shapes, they have circles and hit text box, type in your words you can also add clipart too.-I set it up like 12 to a page, yes ,it takes a little time the first time but after that ,I just pull out the fragrance name and add a new one, done! I even made my own logo there. i hope I helped.
  15. yes, thats better idea.It might be while,I am layed up with a blood clot in my leg!
  16. I think ,it is all the chemicals they use to purify our water supply, then the un mentioned boiled water advisors! They have water testing kits ,test your water.some times ours 6 ph other days 9 ph-also some times high iron -don' forget in lotions what ever is in the water goes into your body, but what the heck -you drink it any way.lol:rolleyes2
  17. Yes,I purchased a small one of all place a salt water pet shop,It work great for my tank and to make my lotions with.No germs,no chemicals but the ph on mine was range of 7 I believe. You had to buy replacement cartridges for it.
  18. I really not for sure this works well, but in my area there is free oxo.com to list your stuff for people to find in your area, just a thought. You don't need a site.on-line is hard,I really work at it and heck I make more from my front door.Maybe some day,I use it for clients to view ,they e-mail what they are wanting me to bring to the next market day.
  19. Lots of info here, thanks.I too have thinking about it and started making a plan.
  20. I think like everyone else, say less and stick to it.I know it's hard but simple is best.:tiptoe:
  21. Hi,thats the type I use but I did't get them at u-line.Mine are very clear and crisp looking but I can't tell if theirs is that clear or not.I got mine from www.allsizepolybags.com --fast service too.
  22. oh my,I am so behind in the times,I still use a straw and it still works great and fast.
  23. I used tri state-cs-cwt-snow drift-bb-then some one mentioned cms--I love their scents!Fast ship too.:)
  24. I tried palm once, the pattern was so great and the glow too but the wax smelled so bad,I could'nt scent it,nothing would cover up the stink. Then I made soap and used sustainable palm oil,no smell at all,I came to think was it a bad batch of wax?
