  1. Carole...thank you so very much...I actually have some cd 7 & 8's and will pour those tomorrow. I really appreciate that info :yay:.

    Carrie...will try those as well..since I'm pouring.

Thanks you guys...I look forward to reporting success in a few days after testing to the bitter end.

  2. Well...it's back to the drawing board...really thought the Peaks Cotton Core wicks were going to be the bomb...haha...that's exactly what they did...BOMBED!! They're not hot enough to create a decent melt pool and therefore a decent HT. I used C-70's and C-75's in 8oz. 3" dia. tins and on several FO's the C-75's drowned after only 3 1/2 - 4 hrs.

I'm awaiting a delivery on Tuesday for zinc wicks to try. I poured 3 testers today using CDNs to see how they work. Didn't have the appropriate size of just CD's. Poured 2 tins-one with a CDN 12 and one with a CDN 10 (thought a 14 would be way too big) and a 8 oz. square mason jar with a CDN 12. Will start testing these on Tuesday. FO is Sage-Pomegranate( 1 oz/lb) from CS and Bayberry dye chip from CS.

I really like this wax and am desperately trying to get the wicking solved. My little storage room (aka spare bedroom) looks like a tester graveyard. Performing last rites on them tomorrow :laugh2:!

Forgot to mention...I do add 10% extra of GB 464 to the 6006.

Will post my CDN and zinc results when I have them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've read all the past posts many, many times. I'm still determined to succeed. Any one else out there testing this wax too? (misery loves company).

  3. I'm expecting an order from them on Tuesday...I sure hope I get it as a sample. I ordered a couple of packs of wicks from them and didn't get a free sample. I know they say if sending a free sample changes the shipping they don't include one :sad2: , so I hope I get one this time!

  4. I've never heard of it either but was just wondering. I use 6006 straight and don't have problems with sink holes or wet spots but then I mostly use 8 oz tins and 8 oz square mason jars. The wax seems to like these sizes and shapes. I too would add a little extra soy if problems occured. In my idle time (yes, I occasionally have a bit of that..especially while my haircolor processes :laugh2:). I was just wondering if there was a benefit.

  5. Thanks Dirtybird...I was just looking for fruity but got distracted..I'm ADD when it comes to FO's:embarasse ..can't seem to help myself! This is my first time ordering from BW so thanks for turning me on to her. Can't wait to test them out. I have a good feeling about these. CS is close to me and I can pick up and save on shipping but I've not been totally in love with their fruit scents.

  6. Still can't seem to find a really strong throwing fruit scent. I've tried Macintosh Apple from CS, Brandied Pear from CS, Jamaica Me Crazy from Peaks (smelled like fuel to me after about the 3rd burn). Any suggestions? I don't have a great fruit scent for my line yet or at least one I'm happy with. Thanks for any suggestions.

  7. Having a bit of problem trying to wick Peaks Amish Harvest in my 8 oz. square mason jars - 3 1/8 dia. I use Peaks cotton core wicks. Tried a C75 and wick was drowning on the first burn. I'm afraid C80 would just be too big..what do you think? I did use 1.5 oz FO to 1 pound igi 6006, 1/2 tsp. UV and 1 CS Brown dye chip. I know this is a heavy oil so next time I'll probably cut back on the FO but am stumped on wick size.

Anyone successfully wick this FO using igi 6006? I would appreciate any input.
