  1. Thanks Jo for the additional info! I use the low-sweat formula from WSP...hopefully this will help and possibly prevent any sweating. Looking forward to trying this when I can get some FBB from WSP. thanks again. Karen
  2. Hi and welcome. I don't use the microwave with small or large batches. I prefer the double boiler method using my pour pots. I have two sizes and small batches do not set up like they did when I tried the pyrex cups and the microwave. You might try this and see if it works for you. Karen
  3. FBB is the Foaming Bath Butter. I've never tried their m&p bases but when I do experiment I'll use the white base I buy from WSP and also WSP's FBB. Don't know if it'll make a difference...I'm thinking (or hoping) probably not. I read too about it sticking in her molds. I use silicon molds and hopefully they wouldn't be hard to get out of those. Post when you decide to make these and let us know how it went. I won't be doing this until probably the Spring...sales have been pretty slow here therefore making funds a bit on the lean side! Karen
  4. Candy...I found it...the long way around I'm sure but i went to the Bramble Berry website and under resources go to Soap Queen's Blog. When you're in the blog section look to the right under Bramble Berry Network and click on Teach Soap. In the middle of the page is Soap Making Forum..click on that and you're now into the forums. Under the Melt & Pour section the salt bar recipe and conversations are on the first page. If you're already a member of the forums it should be on the first page too. They sound really interesting. I'd like to try them but will have to get some FBB first.
  5. Welcome back! Life and marriages are all about compromises you can both live and be happy with. Glad you have found a workable solution. Look forward to seeing you on the forums! Karen
  6. You know, I have the same problem with so many different shades of browns so when I poured Jamaica Me Crazy I did it in teal and renamed it Jamaican Holiday. I think it would be fine. It's funny how color affects peoples sense of what it is. Anything red my husband's first words are "Strawberry??".....no dear, it's "roses!" . Last year I colored JMC yellow and people said..oh..I love pineapple...this year it's teal and people are saying...oh, smells just like my last island trip! Go figure! Karen
  7. thanks for your help. should be getting it in today or tomorrow. Karen
  8. I just ordered some Liquid Crothix from the Chemistry Store to help thicken my shower gels after adding FO's. I've read that you only need to add a very small amount so..for an 8 oz. test bottle, how much would you suggest adding? Do you just add this in to your shower gel as is or do you need to heat your gel and then add the crothix? thanks for your help Karen
  9. AH/RE's Interlude is an Angel dupe and is safe for B&B..I love it and it makes great tarts too. I'm an Angel user and IMO it smells wonderful. Might want to sample them too.
  10. You know..I did an oatmeal honey almond sugar scrub which was labeled as having vanilla about a month ago and I've been watching it and no browning has occured. Do you think it would have by now or do some take many months to occur depending on vanilla percentage?
  11. This is my first Spring season..new to it all but I have now started to make Spring scents...light florals, fruits like Strawberry, Raspberry Truffle, Strawberry Shortcake, etc. and spa scents. I'm still trying to figure out my areas likes and dislikes..trial and error. I have pulled most of my heavier scents...pumpkins, cranberries and pine-like scents so we'll see how it goes.
  12. Gosh..it's been a while since I have tried the SFIC clear and I have to agree with Pixie. I changed to WSP's Crafters Choice Ultra Clear (or is it called Extra Clear..can't remember) but I know I've stuck with it and like it better. No yellow cast to it at all.
  13. Good luck...hope it works for you and you get the results you're looking for. Let me know how it goes.
  14. I use KY's tart/votive wax blend and adore it. Very, very few scents have not had a good CT/HT. I mix it with about 20-25% 464 or C-3 to even out the tops (KY on it's on tends to dimple). If you ever think of changing, you might give it a try.
  15. Sorry..I've not tried them and mostly do tarts now but when I was playing with the frustrating task of wicking candles, I found 6006 to give me the best throw with most fo's I tried. 4630 came in second. Never had much luck getting a good throw with 464...some did and some didn't..it was hit or miss for me with that wax. HTH in some way. Maybe someone will eventually answer for you. Karen
  16. No..but I've been awfully curious about it myself. Anxious to see if anyone has too. What would you name it if you did get it? I've been in the renaming mode lately. Karen
  17. I ordered the Pear Glace one..can't wait to see how it works. I already have the other two from another supplier that I'm happy with but I did order Golden Rose, Peach, Gardenia and Sun Rippened Raspberry. Have not tried those before.
  18. You should really enjoy it! I ordered some new fo's (for me) yesterday too plus their new one Pear Glacee. Can't beat free shipping. Wished I could have taken more of an advantage of it. Tried to order 1 packet of dye chips but it jumped the shipping up to a little over $7.00 and I live only 2 hours away!
  19. I think I'll have to try Plumeria...it's one I never thought of. Pear in soaps, lotions and tarts seem to do well here. Juniper Breeze didn't seem to catch on. Never tried Strawberry-Kiwi but it sounds good. Strawberry Shortcake from CS is great for Spring and Summer.
  20. It is so funny (strange) what I think will sell and what eventually does sell. I've been surprised by it all. In B&B products AH's Flannel Sheets out sold everything while I can't get rid of Lavender...go figure! Clover Fields & Aloe came in second for B&B. Now that Spring is up ahead (hopefully since we are expecting 6-10" of snow tonite & tomorrow) some of my light floral and "spa-like" scents are beginning to move. I can never seem to predict what will move in my area. The "dupe" types don't seem to do well here either. Karen
  21. Check out the Vegtable Wax section of the forum....it's the best place to ask questions and read what everyone else is using...likes and dislikes. I tried making all soy wax candles but found I didn't have the necessary patience for all the testing required. Many on the forum have solved frosting issues using various methods...check it out...you'll have fun reading! HTH And welcome to the forum! Karen
  22. I contacted Debbie at WSP regarding the use of their Vanilla Browning Neutralizer in my oil based scrubs and she reported it would work with no problems. I use their Vanilla Stabilizer in my m&p with great success and the neutralizer in lotions, gels, etc with no problems either. That's a relief..I had this horror of yucky brown scrubs! Karen
  23. fairylite...what would you use to prevent browning? I use a small amount of coloring in my sugar scrubs and I don't want them turning a yucky color. Thanks
  24. Well...I can cross that one off my wish list!
  25. Do you need to use Vanilla Stabilizer or Neutralizer in oil based sugar scrubs? Thanks Karen
