How far down do you test you wick in a jar?After it burns half way of the jar wouldn't you know if the wick is burning to hot or drowning?I am testing one that burned fine until it got half way of the jar and started to drown.Is it alright to jerk the wick out now,and wick up,or start over with a full jar with a bigger wick?Hope this makes sense. Have you every ended up making your candles the same color,well tonight I did.I poured twenty three 8 oz jj,with ten different fall fo's,and they turned out to be almost the same color.They are in the brown's,rust,and tan colors.I'm so mad at myself for doing this.I poured them for a lady,and I'm afraid she want like them.Sorry this is so long,just had to vent. Anna

OMG,I just relized I need to get more presto pots to keep the waxs melted for differant fo,instead of waiting for wax to heat and melt for another batch.Thanks Guys!!!!!!!!!! Anna

Thanks for the fast replys,I have a presto pot,I just haven't mixed color and fo in it,Guess I will have to.It is full of melted wax right now,and don't know how much is in it,have to wait untill I empty it.Thanks again!!! Anna

six containers at one time.They hold 18 ozs of liq wax,I think that would be 5 lbs and 8 ozs of weight wax.My pour pot only holds 4 lbs,and that would be to full to pour.How do you guys do it?I hope this is not a stupid question. Thanks,Anna

I melt remaining wax on a candle warmer,pour the wax in a coffee can,(saving all the left over wax to make a outside candle)wipe with paper towel.then wash then with hot soapy water in the sink. Anna

Sorry I have been gone,Have to work to support this hobby.Yes they are all dark colors,that is just what my jars are doing burn good the first half and then a very small flame. Michi I got my Applejack and peel from starville candle supply,and it is wonderful. I use 1 1/2 oz fo pp.

Thanks Pam,I still a newbie and only tested a few fo's.Have found these hard to wick,using J50.Had to wick up. Apple Jack and Peel Raisin Rum Black Raspberry Vanilla

a thread telling what Fo we find hard to wick or have to wick up.I didn't know if this was allowed.We could tell what wax and wicks we use.I know we have to test for ourselves(sp?),but sometime a starting place helps. Anna

Fern,The only way I knew to measure the jar was to put a tape measure in the jar,it is 3 1/2 ins at bottom,and 3 1/4 at top. Anna

The jar that I am testing is about to make me pull my hair out.It's called mustard jar.I use two 51 z in it.They burn good for the first half of the jar if I keep the wicks trim short ,then the wicks start to burn really low,almost drowns out.Has a full melt m/p and pool is 1/2 in deep.I don't know if I should wick up b/c of the first burns.Or should I try a differant wick?I am testing several differant fo,and they are all doing the same thing.The jar only narrows sightly at the top.It holds 20 oz of wax(J50). Thanks everyone,I had come up with 6 1/2 cent per lb.If you divide 880 by 57 you come up with 15.438596 which would be about 16 cents,but if you divide 57.00 by 880 you come with 0.6477272 which is about 6 1/2 cent per lb.Thats why I didn't know which way was right.Does this make sense. Anna
