  1. Thank you 8-Gran-ones! I will give them try! Deb
  2. Does anyone know where I can get Cranberry Chutney like the one Indiana Candles carried? I needed to order some and Indiana no longer carries it. It has an awsome CT and HT in my glass glow! Thanks Much! Deb
  3. Thank you Georgia and Flickering Dream, you have been a wonderful help! Deb
  4. Thank you very much Flickering Dream! Do you seal the whole candle up or leave the top and bottom open? The sleeves I bought from all white candles leaves an opening and I bought the dust covers for the top, just wondering if I could possibly use them for the square ones. I'll just have to experiment! Thank you again! Deb
  5. I am wanting to shrink wrap some 3x3 1/4" square candles. I have the shrink wrap sleeves for my round candles and really do love them, but they don't work with the square ones. I'd prefer something that is similar to the sleeves, does anyone know where I might find some? Thanks! Deb
  6. Look in the tutorial section, Jakalex did one several years ago. I haven't seen her on here in a while, but she really did know a lot about palm wax, I learned a lot from her! Deb :smiley2:
  7. I like Alabaster's and Peak's, but Alabaster's has a larger selection of liquid dyes. I also use Peak's and Candle Science's dye chips. The chips are nice and there is a wide range of colors, but some times I have a hard time re-creating the color with the chips. I do not always use a whole chip.
  8. Maybe I am missing something, but if the wick affects the scent throw, then how are you getting a good scent throw out of a wickless candle, tarts and melts? I was always under the impression that there were some scents that were not as strong as others and there wasn't anything you could do to make it throw better. I know some of my tarts that I burn in our store (1500 sq. ft.), you can smell them all over the store, other tarts do not throw that well. It doesn't make them a bad tart, they're just not as strong. Strawberries and Cream is one that comes to mind, it is very strong. I only use one kind of wick for my palm wax containers and one for my palm pillars, if I have a scent that I just can't wick to my liking, then I just don't use it. I would drive myself nuts if I had to find a different wick for those scents that weren't throwing that well! Like I said, I maybe missing something......
  9. Even tho I am getting a lot of hours of burn time with the ones that are not burning down like I would like, I don't think it is a horrible burn. If a person that buys the pillar has a tart warmer, they could break up the remaining wax and burn it in the warmer, so nothing is getting wasted. I keep notes on everything I make and on these 50/50 pillars I am actually getting 50 plus hours, even with what I consider too much wax left. I don't get that much time out of my feather by itself! One never knows how the consumer will burn the candle! I just don't want them to think they got a bad deal, since palm wax does not burn like soy or paraffin, non hugable.
  10. Linda, yes I do love the Plumeria! I only make the 3 X 3 1/2" pillars. With all of my scents (except Plumeria) I would have a lot of wax left at the end of the burn, using a csn 14. It would get thin at the top, but not melt down. The longer it burned, the smaller the melt pool would get resulting in toooo much wax. Plumeria (from NG) would burn too fast. I tried the csn 11, 12 and 14, with blow-outs on all. I went the other direction with a csn 9 it looks like it will have too much wax left. It has burned for 32 hours (doing 4 hour burns) and at this point, looks like it will have too much wax left. I make the candles using 50/50. Top did a test with feather/starburst using a csn 14 and it turned out great. Geeze, I wish I had never mixed them! Top, if you read this, thanks for all of your palm testing. I know how time consuming it is and appreciate the money you put into it! Testing does not come cheap!
  11. I use the csn wicks for my palm pillars, because that was what was suggested. I tried them, was happy with the way they burned, so for myself, saw no need to try anything else. With that said, that doesn't mean that nothing else would work, I was happy with the results, so I just went with the csn's. With containers it is a different story. I started out rrd's, got a big flame with soot, so I went to csn's and did not like the big flame I was getting, but no soot. Next the cd's, which I stuck with, because it did the best for me. Some like the cdn's, which I tried single wicking (which would be my preference) but I couldn't get them to work. I think everyone needs to experiment and come up with what works for them. I don't want soot, I don't want a big flame and I don't like mushrooms, so this is why I use the cd wicks. There probably are other wicks that would come up with the same results. You have to come up with what you feel is a good candle.
  12. Thank you all for your help! I do have Peak's Amish Harvest and love it. Sharon, I do need to order some fragrance oils from NG, so I will try some of theirs, but I appreciate sweet offer! I did go ahead and order some from BC, so hopefully, I will find a winner!
  13. Nice picture Soy327! I haven't done anymore testing, yet, but when I test burn, I test it in 4 hour periods. If I can't get my feather/starburst to work, I will just go back to making feather pillars! I just like how the two look mixed together. Good Luck with yours!
  14. Still, no picture! I am anxious to see it! I am upset that I am having such a hard time with my feather/starburst combo. I made 6 different scents and I could not get one to burn right. I started out with a csn 11, because this is what I always use with feather, then went with a csn 14. There is still way too much wax left. After making feather pillars, I know how much wax I want left. When I get the time, I am going to try a csn 16. The only exception is Plumeria. I have used csn 11, 12,14 and then went the other direction after blowouts with all the others. I have wicked with csn 9 and it looks like it is going to leave too much wax, unless something drastically happens. Unfortunantely, I really like this scent. I'll stop for now take a breath and pick up later in the summer. Good luck on your starburst!
  15. No, I haven't tried theirs, thank you. I hate to keep buying from different suppliers and then the fragrance is not what I am looking for. It has probably been 5 or more years since I bought Yankee's, but I remember how much I loved the scent. Making candles now, I would like to make my own Harvest and enjoy it for a lot less money! Thanks again for the help! :smiley2:
  16. Anyone? I will be using this in palm wax, if it makes any difference. TYIA!
  17. Does anyone know of a good match to Yankee's "Harvest?" I use to burn this all during the year, I liked it that much. I have ordered from a couple of different places, but haven't come up with anything close, yet. Thanks!
  18. Thank you! I'm sorry, I should have said, I'm using it in palm wax candles. I went ahead and ordered from OT. I am starting to venture out and order from different suppliers, I was extremely happy with everything I got from Southern Soapers, so I can't wait to get my order from Oregon Trails!
  19. I am looking for a really good Jasmine by itself, not Jasmine mixed with something else? Any suggestions? TYIA Debbie
  20. Those look very nice! :smiley2:
  21. I agree on the feather. When I used the starburst, I had a hard time getting them out of the metal tart containers. For some reason, I would get little holes in mine, but with the feather, there was no problem. I also tried the glass glow, it does not work making tarts, but when I have extra wax left over from my container candles, I will save it and use it in my tart burner.
  22. I coat my spooled csn wicks with the palm wax that I am using. I cut the length that I need and when the wax is melted, I soak the wick, lay it straight to dry, which takes just a few seconds, then wick my mold. This is what works for me, others may chime in here with more ideas!
  23. Your candles are beautiful! I, also, love your presentation! They do look like they are burning too fast. My melt pool is smaller after the first 4 hour burn. I love mixing the feather and starburst together. I use a 3x3 inch mold and am having good luck with csn 11 and 14. Top suggested the csn 14 for the mix, but I already had these made with the csn 11. Out of six different scents, only 2 worked with the 11. I have remade the others with csn 14 and so far they are looking really good. I am having a really hard time with Plumeria for NG. I made the first one with the csn 11 and had a blowout so went with the 14. The shell got really thin at one point and I thought it was a gonner, but on future burns it looks really good. I will burn it to the end and see what happens. Oh the pressure of picking a wick!
