Hi, SharonKay. IMO, Fragrant Nights' total lack of communication (in my case, not responding to either phone or e-mail messages) is a deal-breaker. A simple "We are sorry, the items you ordered are not in stock and we do not expect them to be until late February or early March; should we hold your order or would you like to cancel it?" would have been nice. I won't bother with them again--fool me once, ....

I placed a small ($42) order with "Fragrant Nights" on 11/30/2010. Not having received my items by 1/15/2011, I e-mailed the company. NO REPLY. Today, I phoned them, and got a ridiculous "all our representatives are busy" recorded answer. (Hogwash! I believe this is a small, mom-and-pop operation.) My purchase was through PayPal, so I contacted them. My purchase price will be refunded. "Fragrant Nights" STATED turnaround time is bad (they claim that it can take up to 15 days to simply process your order), and their shipping charges are VERY high. Be VERY careful if you are contemplating purchasing from them!

I think dogmom is saying that testing 2 candles whose only difference was the wick size (i.e., the wax and the amount of FO were identical) resulted in the smaller wick forming a larger MP than the larger wick, and that this was the same thing she had previously observed when she tested 2 other identical-except-for-the-wick-size candles (made with a different FO). Four candles were tested - two pairs.

You might want to try http://www.scentforum.com/search-fragrance-oil.php, too; typing in "sugar plum" returned several that have "spice" or "spiced" in their name.

The wicks I found most satisfactory overall (i.e., with the most fragrance oils) were Peak's cotton core wicks, although LX wicks and HTP wicks also worked well with a couple of the fragrances I tested. The FOs used (12 total) were from Peak, NG, Backwoods, AH/RE, and Sweet Cakes, all highly rated/recommended. I used 4 jars--9 oz. and 12 oz. hex jars and 9.8 oz. and 12.6 oz. square "Victorian" jars. (I plan on using the square jars.) May I ask what % FO you use most frequently? Thanks. :smiley2:

I don't know if I need I; I'm simply asking if anyone has added it to 6006 and, if so, what his/her results were. I'm looking to improve the hot throw of my candles; I'm not as happy with it (ht) as I'd hoped to be. I used oils from Peak, Nature's Garden, Backwoods, Aroma Haven/Rustic Escentuals, Sweet Cakes, and Candle Science, all highly rated/recommended either here and/or on scentforum.com. I don't think it's the FOs; it could simply be my nose. I'll try cutting down to 8%.

Okay, after 1/2 a year of experimenting, I've settled on using 6006 for my container candles. (A big factor is that it's available an hour's drive away.) For every test batch (testing wicks), I used 1.6 oz. of fragrance oil/lb. of 6006, the maximum load IGI asserts is possible. While I found a few satisfactory wicks, I wasn't really blown away by the hot throw of any of the candles (all high quality and recommended here, on the forum). I'm considering cutting down on the fo % (to 6-8) and adding a small amount of vybar, say 1/4 tsp./pound. Has anyone had any success with adding a small--well, ANY--amount of vybar to 6006? Thanks for any results/advice. :smiley2: (Yes, I know 6006 is a "pre-blend." :rolleyes2)

Just a heads-up: Do NOT order from Tradewinds Fragrance Co. I placed an order 3 weeks ago today (on Oct. 4). After not hearing from them (other than an email acknowledging that my order was received) regarding the status of my order (i.e., shipment) within a week, I went to the site and saw that my account had 2 entries, both on the 4th. One said "pending," the other said "processing." I let a few days pass, then emailed them. No reply. A few days later, I emailed them again. No reply. I then (last week) went to the site and used the "Contact Us" form there. No reply. I just went to the site a final time and used the "Contact Us" form to cancel my order. (At least they hadn't charged my credit card yet.) I also notified them that I was going to post about their abysmal customer service on every fo forum I could find.

www.specialtybottle.com might have something you can use.

I use www.frontierlabel.com for my 4-color "logo labels" (jars) and print everything else (tart/clamshell labels, warning labels) on my home PC. I had a graphic artsit/printer make me a template for oval labels (so the text arced); I just change the fragrance name as each batch is finished. I get the "blanks" from www.onlinelabels.com.

I don't put anything about the wax on the label. if anyone asks, however, I tell them it's a paraffin-soy blend (paraffin first since they are more paraffin--70%--than soy).
