  1. I'm reviving this old thread to see if there is any new ideas to throw into the Reed Diffuser topic. I've had good luck with some FO's using DPG. I've also used Hexylene Glycol with other FO's. Since I've found a few that work (after testing, testing, testing!) I've just used the blend that worked well for me. One thing I haven't tried is the FO/DPG/PA combination. Has this worked well for anyone?
  2. Yes, this is the BEST lotion base!! No greasy or sticky feeling and it is great for your hands and skin. My customers think it's the best also!!
  3. Joy, Does the Polyolefin let too much of the votive & tart scent escape? I have some polyolefin for soaps, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to try this for candles. Then if you suggested polyolefin for scented items, it won't suck out the scent like a "baggie" would? Thanks for your help!! Susan
  4. I've been shrink wrapping my votives & tarts with a PVC tube shrink wrap. I have some that have been around for a long time and the PVC material has deteriorated and become soft and rubbery feeling and appears to have soaked up the fragrance oil. It has turned a yellowish or tan color. So I'm wondering if I am using the wrong material for shrink wrapping. I've been told that it's a 100 gauge (by another shrink wrap company), so it's pretty stiff. So, am I using the wrong stuff?? I hope someone can help me out here! Thanks!
  5. When I tried to put a frosted candle into the oven (at 170 degrees), the frost went away, but when it cooled it came back even more. Like Accents said, just explain to your customers that frost doesn't hurt the burn of the candle and that because of the frost, you know it is a soy wax candle and will burn cleaner. HTH

  7. Those are really cute and I'm also impressed with this thread that has stayed around for a year!! Robin, have you thought of selling a refresher spray to go along with these? They are too cute to throw away and not be useful as an air freshner!
  8. Great looking soap - love the swirls!
  9. Thanks for the help Lorrie & Chris. I will do some research and try to come up with a great recipe! Thanks again, Susan
  10. Can you help me out with this question?
  11. What would be great ingredients to make a soap with Pine Tar in it? Olive oil, shea butter, palm kernel . . . is anyone willing to share their recipe? I've read that you can add up to 20% Pine Tar in your recipe, is this right? Thanks, Susan
  12. Thanks Sherie for posting this information, it really helps me to figure out that I want this program!!!! Now to find the time to get everything set up the right way. I'll probably down the trial version also. Susan
  13. This program looks great! For those who have the inventory section of the program - do you use it? I wonder if I would, or would that be too much work to enter all my inventory as I get supplies. (I'm thinking of using it for candles also). Susan
  14. I agree - no need for stearic with KY votive/pillar wax. The only time I've had one split is if I left it in the freezer too long. (I use the freezer instead of the refrigerator.) HTH Susan
  15. Love the swirl one!! Just beautiful. The other one looks good enough to eat!! Great Job!
  16. I've read that when you force gel with the oven (or backseat of a car) the soap will be ready in 2 or 3 weeks. So this does speed up the process, but I would still let it cure for 2 or 3 weeks. Technically the soap is ready after being placed in the oven for an hour (or car??), just not hard enough. (Just passing on information from creditable sources.)
  17. I used the Hexylene Glycol from www.oakcourtcreations.com -- it's under the reed diffuser section. But that is a lot more money than the above company sells the stuff for. I wonder if there is a difference?
  18. Just checking on this thread and thought I'd see if anyone was still working with diffuser oils? I have tried the hexylene glycol and thought it was very similar to the DPG. I mixed mine 1/2 and 1/2.
  19. I didn't know soaping could be soooo funny!!! LOL That was a great story - you should be a writer!!! Seriously -- the soap looks great! Susan
  20. Sue: I'm new to soap making and I was wondering why your scent disappeared with your first soap making try? Thanks, Susan
  21. Kerry: Can I ask how long you put the soap into the warm (170 degrees?) oven? For about 2 hours?? I'm thinking of trying my hand at CP soap and I'm gathering information. It takes less time to cure after you've had it in the oven, right? Thanks for your help! Susan
  22. That's a cute idea. Also a great gift for someone to give - it's eye appealing & there's 4 different scents to enjoy! Great job! Susan
  23. The bucket is really cute. I'm sure the teacher will love it!! Good Job! Susan
