I've been searching for something the size of a cookie sheet and similar to a wire cooling rack (only plastic) used for baking, to dry my soap on. What do I use? I've been using something that's way too small and need something larger. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry, I can't help you regarding adding candy flavoring. Where you buy your flavor oils from should provide you the information on how much to add when making lip balm. Some are 3%, others are 1% and when using essential oils, like peppermint, that's even less. Maybe .5 to 1% If you look at the MMS website (www.thesage.com) and look under flavorings, it gives you good information. The same for Bitter Creek, they give information on how much to use.

Yep, those stores are strong smelling! If a candle made with this FO would be half that strong, I'd be happy!!

I know if you have something that works, you shouldn't mess with it!! But, I'm always trying to find ways to save some money, especially if it doesn't compromise the quality of my products! Thanks for the input!

This is what I thought . . . more testing if I want to switch!! Thanks for confirming this. On the Candlewic site you can pick your wick coating. There is the standard, which is flimsy and I think the one I've been using is the High Melt Point Wax Coating, which is sturdier. I will have to test to get my answer about buying cheaper wicks!! If I use a CD 14 wick from one company and then order the same size wick from another company, do they burn exactly the same for you? I'm thinking of ordering some wicks from Candlewic (a larger amount) and I usually had bought from another source. I'm just trying to get a better price on wicks. I did get some samples from Candlewic. I've noticed a little difference, but I'm not sure if I'm imagining it. Just thought I'd ask!

How many boxes on a pallet? In checking out the differences between these 2 waxes, I found out it would cost me more to buy from Golden Foods (which is closer to me) than from KY. The wax is cheaper & shipping from KY. Doesn't make much sense!

Does anyone use this wax yet? I've done some searching and can't find any current posts about it. I would like to hear good and bad comments on this wax. Is it really just like KY 125? Thanks for your help!

Thanks Neil for your response. Looks like what I was doing is what I should stick to. Wow, 5-7 times for fundraisers?!! That's a lot! I don't think in our area people would spend that much for a candle, etc.

Sounds like people do this all different ways!! I have been doubling my cost for wholesale and then I leave it up to the customer on what they want to charge. I've noticed that some double the wholesale cost and others add a percentage. Another grief is charging for my labor! My candle price is high enough with just my materials, but I do add a little and call it labor. Anyway, it's a battle to figure wholesale prices!! Thanks everyone for their response!

I'm having a hard time with how much I should charge for my candles when I sell them wholesale. I need to raise my prices and haven't for some time because I was afraid to. I know that's dumb, but I thought if I raised my prices that I would lose customers. Well, it's either down to losing customers or not making much money on my candles!! I cannot continue to make them and not make very much on them. I could have a different full-time job and make more money than this!! Would someone be willing to share what they charge wholesale for the following sizes? 10 oz. apothecary 18 oz. apothecary (or 16 oz.) 26 oz. apothecary I would appreciate your help here -- I'm very frustrated!!

Just a question . . . do you guys heat your jars? This could create your frost. Also, the temperature of your room makes a difference, but this time of the year you shouldn't have problems unless you have an air conditioner blowing on your candles as they cool.

I put my votives in the freezer for 4-5 minutes and this helps to release the wick pin. I don't know if this works with EcoSoy Pillar wax though, I use a different brand. Just don't leave votives in the freezer very long or they will crack clear though and you get to remelt and repour!! HTH

I have found that lotions, lotion sticks and aroma beads sell well during the summer. Farmers Markets are good too (until the weather gets too hot and melts my candles!). I'm also keeping busy with my wholesale orders - I don't know how these stores sell candles during the summer!! Susan

The directions on the KY site says to pour between 160 & 200 degrees. I heat mine to almost 200 degrees & pour about 165 and the repour at 175. Why do you stir so much to mix in the scent? Sure I stir to completely incorporate the scent with the wax, but I don't stir that long. Maybe you could heat your FO oils if you don't want the temp. to drop that fast. I wouldn't take the time, but just a suggestion. The only time I've had cracking with this wax is when I stuck them in the freezer to remove them from the mold & wick pin and forgot them in the freezer. For me when the wax gets too cold it will crack. HTH Susan

I agree . . . I was thinking if everything needed to be generic, then I would put a large minimum on it. I've been communicating with them while you guys have been helping me out here and I'm now able to put my caution label on it with my website printed on there. So now it's like a normal private label candle!! Now we'll see where this goes! Thanks for helping me get through this! Sometimes I just have to talk to "candle people"!!!!!

I do make my own caution labels with my company name and website on them, but they're asking for a generic caution label. I have also done private labeling, but I usually have created a label for the customer and it still says "hand-poured by SoyGlo Candle Co." right on the front only in smaller lettering. I suppose if she pulls off my caution label, I will never know about this since they are so far away!!

I have someone asking to sell my candles to them wholesale with just a generic caution label on the bottom and they would add their own label on the front. I have a problem with this! Who's liable for the candle? It's MY candle that I've worked hard to create. Is this client trying to take advantage of me?? I've always said I wouldn't do this, but I'm not sure now what to do. If I could put my website on the bottom caution label and let them label the front, do you think this would be good enough? Give me your advice!!

I use BCN's wick stickums and have had very little problems. The only time I had a problem is when a shipment of jars were greasy feeling inside and the stickums wouldn't adhere very well. I used a "baby wipe" to clean the bottom where the stickum was to go and this solved the problem. HTH
