  1. I would much rather buy from Millcreek if this place is doing shady business. I certainly don't want to support them. I'll try a sample pack from them soon and let you all know if they are the same.
  2. I use liquid dyes from thecandlemakersstore.com they are wonderful!!! They don't have any smell and never clog my wicks when using them in containers. I highly recommend them, plus you won't use near as much color with the liquid and you can measure for exact color each bath! BLESSINGS
  3. Oh my gosh.....that is terrible!! I actually had someone do that to me as well. They copied and pasted my fragrances and my exact wording onto their page. The saddest part was this person was a friend and she didn't understand why she shouldn't do that. We spend hours upon end trying to get our stuff just right and someone else just comes along and does a little click click. The site for SCS is soycandlesuppliers.com and the site where I bought the wax sampler kit is candleandsupplies.com Soy Candle Suppliers hasn't raised their prices on the wax yet.....but candles and supplies raised theirs almost 20 bucks:shocked2: Blessings
  4. It's great to hear that this is working well for someone else. I will try that tonight. It's a shame that that wax has gone up so much in price.......the suppliers here in my area only carry golden brands:undecidedI will be paying around 65 a case plus another 20 or so in shipping!!! It's all worth it as long as it sells well and can compete with the other company's. Thanks again for the info!!
  5. I am also testing this wax. I finally got a good throw with a scent called viva la vanilla after curing for 4 days. I didn't know about the curing thing for a while either so don't feel like your the only one;)I'm not sure how I feel about this wax yet. It looks beautiful and burns really well, but the scent throw is not there. I am curious to learn your results with the coconut oil. Maybe I'll try that, I've also heard that stearic acid can help with scent throw. I also tried the Ecosoya Pure and that seemed to throw a bit better, and had a stronger cold throw, but still not anything to ooooh and aaaah over. Maybe I have that candle nose also, but my hubby says all he smells is wax. I am trying the ecosoya 135 next, then onto the Cargill waxes. Good Luck and let me know how things turn out for you!! Blessings:D
  6. I'm working on uploading some pics. Right now I'm buring SHAMPURE, Spiced cranberry cinnamon, island mango, viva la vanilla, and vanilla lavendure from Soy Candle Suppliers. I used CB advanced for the island mango, viva la vanilla and the vanilla lavender. Used ecosoya pure for the others. After 4 days of curing, the viva la vanilla is FINALLY throwing kinda well (not knocking my socks off) Island Mango has a heavy cream hot throw. My FAV has been the Vanilla Lavender. I've had a hard time finding a nice soft lavender and I think I've finally got it!! SHAMPURE smells like kerosene, and the spiced cranberry cinnamon smells like something rotten ( MY SON THOUGHT THE DOG WAS PASSING GAS!) They all have an excellent COLD throw. I notice that the CB advanced doesn't have near the cold/hot throw that my GB 415 has or even the ecosoya pure. Maybe I need to let them cure longer than a week and test again. Thanks for the advice;) Blessings Nichole
  7. As I mentioned on a different thread concerning Maddison Avenue Candles....I have been making candles since Aug 2006. I have tried/tested with the rest of you....I have been fairly successful and have a pretty nice size customer base that LOVE my candles. I personally want my products to be as good as the others. I want to feel confident about what I am selling. Right now I don't feel that my product is the BEST. Not every customer comes back for a re-order, that tells me that I am not providing the best product, yet I know that they are willing to drop 15-20 bucks on a 10 oz candle from White Barn or Maddison. I think that we are all trying to get the best wax, best FO, best burn qualities. I agree that people/company's are not going to be super open about their ingredients, I think that's common sense. But maybe someone else knows. I saw a post earlier about White Barn....someone actually did find out what type of wax they use, so apparently it is possible. I appreciate the input that you all gave. Thank You. I am surprised at the criticism that some people are creating and giving to others. We are all business owners trying to be successful. This site is here to help, and to give tips and input. Back to testing....I'm working with ecosoya 135 right now. Keeping my fingers crossed!!
  8. I plan to charge the same amount until my old wax runs out.....I will be sending out a notice that my prices will go up along with the reasons. I'm really bummed about the price increase.....I sell supplies here and there..I'm anxious to see what those customers will do. Good luck everyone!!
  9. Thank you all very much for your input. I have been making candles now since August 2006. I just want to make the best product possible for my customers. If something is working well for a company I am always open to trying it out myself. As we all know it's quite difficult to find the BEST when your working with a small budget.:undecided I purchased a sampler kit from Candles and Supplies....it's every soy wax on the market....so I've been working hard with testing. I did hear from Soy Candle Suppliers. They told that I was heating the wax to high and that I should try to heat only to 155 and add FO at 145. This is not what NGI's site says nor is this what SCS's website instructions say....so now I'm even more confused. Thanks again! This site has been very very helpful.
  10. Thanks for replying! I just contacted them about my issue. They were great about getting back with me right away. They can't figure it out just yet but have asked some others about my particular issue and I am waiting for them to get back with me. I am mostly concerned with the CB advanced wax. It seems a lot of people have had trouble with this wax......so its surprising that they supposedly use it and have such a successful company. I asked them if this was the same wax they use for their candle line and did not get a response, however on their page they do claim that is the CB advanced wax. What wax do you use??
  11. Sorry to but in.....but this seems to be an ongoing debate. I have gone back and forth about this as well. I tried a soy blend, but my customers wanted 100% soy. I got many questions and concerns when I added the 50/50 to my line. I eventually took it out due to lack of sales. A friend of mine did the same thing and also had to switch to soy. I do think that consumers care about what's in the wax. At least my customers show some concern. When I am at craft shows the soy candles tend to sell better than the paraffin. People are very aware of the differences. I have met many suppliers that DESPISE soy wax and think it poo. I'll stick with the SOY and agree that ingredients would be very helpful!
  12. I'm trying to get some input about Maddison Avenue Candles. They are a pretty successful company and offer soy candles at a fairly high price....reading their testimonials it seems they have a TON of happy customers. I was really excited when they came out with supplies to make exact duplicates for their candles. They claim to use CB advanced. I ordered everything from them (FO's, jars, wicks and the wax) I am not having much luck with the FO throw:cry2:. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this company if any of you have actually burned one of their candles??? Their FO's are kinda expensive but I thought it would be worth it if the product was good....I am a bit disappointed and not very confident about putting it in my current line:undecided. Thanks so much!!!
  13. I will try this with my next batch. Thanks so much for your input. I wish I would have found this site sooner.....it may have saved me a TON of money!! Blessings
  14. What wax and FO are you using? I have been testing like CRAZY! Thanks!
  15. I forgot to mention that I get fantastic smells using the same FO with my tarts. I was wondering if it could have something to do with the flame??? Thanks!
  16. I get this horrible fuel smell when burning some fragrances with soy wax. Anyone know why this happens. I notice it with a few of my fragrances...Candy Cane and another one called SHAMPURE from soycandlesuppliers. I have also noticed this with LOVE SPELL. Anyone have any suggestions for this problem or know why it happens??? Thanks a bunch:D
  17. What did you find out through colonial candle (if you don't mind me asking?) It seems there are SO many soy/veggie waxes out there, but no matter how much testing non seem to compare to the larger companies like Yank and White Barn or even ROOT candle. I have used GB 415, have a good scent throw but the candle looks like poo. I would like a nice looking candle (like the one I get with CB advanced) but with a great throw. Thanks for your reply!!!
  18. Anyone else have this problem?? With some scents I get a horrible fuel smell when burning my soy candles. I have noticed this with Candy Cane, and now I'm getting it with SHAMPURE (AVEDA) from Soy candle suppliers. It's almost like kerosene. Thanks!!!
  19. I was told that White Barns candles don't have any paraffin. I guess this is not true considering parasoy is a paraffin/soy blend. Any body know for sure?? I personally LOVE their candles.
  20. That price is for container candles. Obviously pillars would be less considering there is no cost for a jar. In addition, jars with lids should be priced more along the 2.00 per ounce price. This is just what was recommended to me by a candle supplier. I charge more around 1.25 per ounce for my container candles.
  21. I've actually asked them what they use, but I keep getting the same response "veggie wax" I asked if its soy based and they say "no" but that it does not have any paraffin in it. Like I mentioned I know that they do NOT make their own wax or FO so they are getting it from somewhere.
  22. I agree!!! When I set up at craft shows I get very irritated with people selling soy candles for next to nothing!! They are not only hurting themselves, but they are also hurting the industry. I work too hard to make a dollar a candle. My time is money, plus its a great product!! I've heard a good range is $1.50-2.50 per ounce.
  23. I currently make soy candles, but get frustrated with the poor scent throw:undecided. I am currently testing a TON of waxes. I have used GB 415 in the past. I get a great throw, but a lot of frosting. I am currently testing ECOSOYA ADVANCED and 135 with FO from Soycandlesuppliers.com. I am not getting very good results. I LOVE White Barn's candles. I know that they are soy based, so I was wondering if anyone knew what they use? I have heard that they order their FO's from a manufacturer as well as their wax. ALL of their candles have an excellent throw and their FO's are wonderful. Thanks!! Nichole
