Hi
I regularly make palm pillars and haven't had this problem till I changed my wax supplier. I put putty (called blue tac here - sticks kids paper pictures to walls etc) then I put a generous amount of duct tape over this and some of the molds leak:angry2:
I know the pouring temp has to be 200-210F and I pour at 200 into alluminium molds. Can anyone give me some advise to help solve this expensive problem?? Thank you

It is a scam. I received the exact same email as the first one. Told him to see what was on my website and then order by paying by telegraphic transfer, once this was cleared we would make and then post candles - NEVER HEARD BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic Adam, I think you should be very proud. People have short memories as to what is offered in this article, once you put them straight on what you do offer, they will be happy. You are lucky to have such a large article

I've seen soap with all kinds of fruit in it, small bits

Square braid WR2007 from candlewic would be a good starting point for that size pillar
-
Sorry, I forgot to add, I don't use any colour

I have experienced this with C3 and orange and cinnamon EO. All the colour of the EO goes to the bottom after burning

The demand for paraffin products is extremely high (my supplier told me this!!!?) so it has nothing to do with the fuel prices.

Get all your work tables second hand and really cheap as they get messed up anyway. All my shelving etc is second hand too so it doesn't cost much to set up. You have to check your wiring, I agree as too much output keeps tripping your mains switch. You should set it out how you minimise on time getting around, if possible. I pack inside my house but do all my candle making from a huge garage.

Get samples of square braid wick from candlewic for pillars. They work like a dream with my palm pillars

Where I live, you have to seperate paraffin and soy as there are many who have an issue of all natural and think soy is the way to go without any additives of paraffin. I have to go with a whole range of waxes to please my market, but can not use paraffin with soy.

Thanks for that, I heated my tops today without waiting overnight and it just gets worse, in fact it even causes wet spots. I use 415, CO and 5%FO and virtually never get bad tops, but I guess the nature of the beast took over today.

I guess they add olive oil instead of Coconut oil, make your own would be best

If it were me, I would cut my losses and move on. Forget about the whole thing, he is not going to go to court knowing he has done wrong and if he does, you have to deal with it. My bet is you ignore it and he will ignore it and you will have to get on with life.

I had one and they were asking the same old question about plain white square candles (which I don't have) and how much they were please send prices and they gave the info that they will pay by Credit card. DELETE!!!

Hi Kristi, thank you for that advice. I have tested 464 (not very intensively) and found it cracks and has terrible wet spots.

.....and when you're in the candle business, it pretty much takes over your life. Even when you're not actually making candles, keeping up with inventory, doing your bookkeeping, selling, etc. etc. etc. , you are on this board trying to learn more, and constantly thinking about how you can improve this or that, what products you can add to improve your sales. Some of you might know how to turn it on and off, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. It can burn you out sometimes, even though you don't want to do change to another job.
I think the saying "Burning the candle at both ends" came from a chandler!! I am always busy with something

I got my samples from Candlewic too and have just made some palm pillars with Chardonay and they smell a lot like bubblegum!!!! None of the others has come out smelling like wine so I guess I'll have to try some others

Thanks for your advise, all. I am buying a whole lot of C3 next as I really like this wax. Done my testing with 415, still prefer C3. Have to start testing all over LOL!!!

I have been testing 8oz tins and am getting frustrated, using EO mixes and some FO and cannot get them to burn clean or even close with CD 12 & 14. I am burning cedarwood and lavender EO now with a CD16 and it looks like I am still going to have lots of wax left over. Using GB415 and CO????? 4oz tins are mastered with either CD 10 or RRD 34, both are fantastic, long burn clean afterwards

You know how big mistakes have made products that have made millions for some companies, you never know, maybe you have solved the problem of frosting, or made some other big discovery!!!

Tried wick pins once for pillars, NEVER again. They are never straight and sometimes they stick to the wax, never to be removed

Anybody sell these, such as Shiraz, chardonnay, etc? I have just received some samples and they are not very "wine" like but do smell nice. Just wondering if it is something that anyone has tried any and their thoughts.
