I prefer C3 as it is very flexible with pour temp at different times of the year and I always get lovely smooth tops. I like the C1 too but there is a big controversy over palm wax and I think that palm wax is an ingredient in C1. As Stella says, if no C3 around I would use C1.

Candlewic square braid wick is lovely for any pillar candle wax.

Essential oils on the lips are safe at 1%, BUT you need to do your research as to any contraindications of the particular essential oils you are using. ALSO, they have to be pure 100% essential oils, if they are messed with in the lab and adulterated, then they can be harmful or useless. I use spearmint and lavender pure essential oils in lip balm for my whole family. Very beneficial.

Use pure essential oils of lavender, patchouli, geranium. If you don't have all, use lavender and add it to olive oil. 2 drops/teaspoon.

The color is causing your frosting problem. I would suggest that you wait overnight and then heatgun in the morning, you should get a nice top first time. In saying that, though, I don't use your wax, but it is worth giving a go.

I agree, keep the wick the same and test burn, then compare it with your firstUsually it's recommended you change only ONE variable at a time. So if you change your FO amount, leave the wick the same for the next test and after burning compare it to your first test. -
I always shake. By the time it is ready to pour, the bubbles will be gone

Wet spots are part of candle life. We use C3 and sometimes we don't see wet spots for 2 weeks, perfect candles, and suddenly a slight change in temp and they will all get them. Used to get very upset but now we just accept them as a fact and people buy because they like the smell. Do an experiment and set up a stall where all your candles have wetspots and I guarantee you won't have one single customer ask you about it or even mention it, I am talking hundreds of people. The prat that asks you is some twit who is a shitty candle maker themself.

Taylored concepts have really great ready mixed reed diffuser oils

Don't make them myself yet, but would go 4oz due to a price issue with customers. It is what people are prepared to spend and less is normally the norm.

So cute

Not knowing the size of them, I thought, tampon holder, straight away, not sure why I'm the only one?:tiptoe:

Yes this could be one reason.
I often think to go in shops and present my candle, two things are preventing me now from doing it. One, I'm still working on packaging, especially for pillars, and the things that scares me most is if they like my candles and want LOTS, because I do this only in the spare time for now. Fantastic problem to have if they want lots, you will find a way to get them done!!!
So... I always procrastinate!
Thanks for kind words regarding my candles!
Those candles are absolutely awful and I would be embarrassed if I were the shop owner. I know what it is like with the mentality of people preferring to buy cheap chinese candles and not seeing the value in a well made, quality candle. It seems these days a lot of products are losing their lure because of cheap chinese imports. At least though, there are still some who have good taste:) so go and see that shop owner and get your product on the shelves!

Seems to be the right wick to me. burn to the bottom and see, but it looks like it is the perfect size
-
Try wick down, IMO it could eliminate the sooting issue. You have hang up on one side, but need to burn still for many hours. The hang up should burn away even with a smaller wick.
-
You could try a sample of "Spice" from Candlewic. It reminds me of an upscale scent but at the same time gives me a log cabin type of feel. Very nice

A+ from me too. There are a few, however, that are quite weak but that is the same with ALL companies. Lovely service, great descriptions.

Lovely candles. Try and apply your mould sealer to the wick after you demold to remove excess. Hey Stella "Cannabis supplies Toronto"?/:cheesy2:

Try Candlewic WR2004 and WR2007 spool wicks, work well in 3" pillars

CD wicking isn't coated with anything from the factory; it gets coated by the distributor or supplier. Suppliers like Candlewic make custom wick assemblies in modest quantities and offer a choice of several wax coatings. Someone like that might ask which coating you got. From a supplier that doesn't offer a choice, it seems like a strange question.
I haven't really dug the natural coatings I've run into. Who even needs that. The best coatings are generally paraffin based, though those can suck too. It all depends.
If chunks are seriously falling off into the candle, I'd personally just put those on paper towels in the oven at a low setting and get rid of the wax.
Does the wax coating coming off the wick affect the burn? Just concerned that the wick looks thinner and won't burn the same.

Each fragrance with tell you if it is bath and body safe

Had a problem recently with my CD7 wicks. The wax coat was literally coming off before pouring and continued during pouring. I contacted the supplier who asked me " Is it coated with beeswax as this can be quite brittle" Not sure why they don't know what their own wicks that they supply are coated with:( Also, We ordered other CD's of different sizes and had no problem. Are CD wicks covered with beeswax? Do suppliers not know what wax their wicks are coated with? I am very disappointed as this supplier has been around for a long time.

Was reading an article about a candle company bringing in a range of rice wax candles? Anyone know anything?

1. I first posted pictures on 1-31-10 of my first soy candle just C3 no FO CDN8 wick, It left a slight film on the jar. Nice melt pool through out.
2. Next I poured one with Peaks French Vanilla Amber 1oz per pound heated wax to 185 added FO stirred until temp reached 165 and poured into warm jars, Tops came out nice, Great CT I love this wax for the CT , the HT just wasnt their throughout the total burn time.CDN 8 in 8 oz jelly jar 2 1/4 inside opening.no mushrooming and no sooting, but the jar has wax clinging to the sides not a lot of wax but more than I would like.
3. Next I poured the same FO heated wax to 185 added FO poured at 165, but added Coconut oil to one and USA to one CDN 8 Wick Love Love Love the CT of this wax the hot throw is better, scented my bathroom nicely,12x14 but wish it would be a little stonger, I did notice the longer the candle cured the stronger the scent got.still no mushroom or soot but not a clean jar . So i just poured another one and trying a CD 10, cant get any CDN 10 they are out of stock,Will let cure for 1 week and post results.
Still trying to decide if I like the USA or coconut oil better Cant really tell a big difference with Scent throw ,maybe someone can chime in .
I have noticed one thing when these candles burn I get a lot of bubbles I do not like this look what is causing this?
Thanks for Listening
Carryl
Even in the non soapy C3 you can get bubbles. Wait till you heatgun the top of one and see all the bubbles coming up by the wick!! Even stirred slow and poured slow this wax often seems to have them.

I love square braid wick for my palm pillars and paraffin pillars. I use spools as I wick my moulds before pouring. Never had black smoke and wicks trim nicely. Not tried them in beeswax. I get mine from Candlewic.
