  1. Nope is just says it is a delicious blend of olive and soy. ETA: It was suggested to me to figure on a soap calc the difference between the two oils. Olive pomace has a SAP value of 0.135 and soy is 0.136. In the soap I made today (that I wasn't supposed to be making LOL) I used 6.05 oz of lye. If I had soaped all OOP or soy, I came up with a range of 6.012 and 6.041. So I think mathematically, this means that my soap should be "OK" but a bit more supperfatted that I had originally intended. What do you all think?
  2. They are Oak Moss, Tea Leaf and Grapefruit and Ylang Ylang from Heavan Scent.
  3. :embarasse :embarasse :embarasse So does that mean that my soap is no good? Is there any way that it can be fixed? I am so mad at myself for not looking closer. I assumed that because there wasn't an actual ingredient list that it was 100% OO but you guys were right. It is a soy blend.
  4. I agree with you as well. I was just wondering what would happen. I don't know if these are untested or actually not safe KWIM? I guess I am just bummed because I can't use them. Oh well they are already posted in the classifieds.
  5. Would it be a bad idea to try to use a FO that is labled for candles only?
  6. Well I know where I'll be next payday! This little store downstairs in my apt. building has just a TON of it down there. I'll have to be careful that they don't notice me buying it all up and jack the price up!
  7. I found Olive pomace for $9.99 for 3 litres. Is that a good deal? The can weighs just under 7 pounds.
  8. Ok so I don't sleep very much... I made 5 batches of soaps with all three butters. I must say that I love these butters. If I'm not careful, I will use thses all up within a week! I jad one batch overheat on me and my colors morphed! I was bummed too because that was my swap soap. Darn I guess I'll have to whip up another batch! What a hardship. Otherwise, I think I soaped one too cool and I got the shea butter dandruff effect in my "supposed to be black" soap, but it worked out ok in the end. Now I just have to check for grey bubbles. Over all, all the butters have soaped so well for me and I am really glad that I got in on this buy!
  9. I have only used it once and it made me sick! LOL But I made it into a salt bar and it turned bright orange on me. Then It started to turn brown but it was splotchy. So now I have a bunch of brown and orange stinky salt bars! Good thing my daughter loves this scent.
  10. ^^^^^ That's really good to know. I won't be wasting my precious pumpkin butter trying that one!
  11. I was thinking the same thing as well because that pumpkin butter is the BOMB!!!! I wish I had more of it, but since I only have 1 pound of it, I don't want to use it in soap. I was thinking of playing with some whipped shea and throwing it in there, but Im not sure how it will work out if I melt it. I'll be watching this thread...
  12. ITS BACK IN STOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Listed to ship on 4/18!
  13. Those are some great ideas especially the idea of throwing them inthe dryer! I'll have to remember to try that.
  14. I notice that a lot of people post for sale in the classified ads their FO samples. I was just curious what everyone does with them? I just got a bunch from SW and I have already used one of them just because I couldn't stand how good it smelled and it needed to be soaped and used on my body! LOL But do most of you just smell them and then order larger sizes or do you use them up as well?
  15. @ Bold... If there is one thing that I am learning about soaping it's that you have to have a budget!!! Even for just a hobbist soaper like myself! I say that if lard is affordable and available, let your veggie family members know that right now, you just can't do vegan. But given some time you can plan for/find more vegan ingredients for them as well. Who knows? They might not even have a problem with lard at all!
  16. Check out Home Depot or Lowe's or some place like that and get a showerhead filter. I have the exact same problem! You could fill your tub with avacado oil and crisco and you will still itch! LOL I personally don't have one yet because I would rather spend my money on soaping, but I'll be getting one soon. I have heard great things about what they can do! http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?keyword=showerhead+filter&langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productList&N=0&Ntk=i_products&Ntt=showerhead%20filter
  17. Vanilla and Lavander! Those are IMHO the two most generic fragrances there could possibly be! And the Lavander could go to men as well.
  18. I just ordered some today! Do you mix them with oil or just put them right into the soap batter by the drop until you get the color you want?
  19. Lorrie! Once you find your PO, could you come to Minneapolis and help me find my mind?
  20. OK I got here late, but am dying to know has there been resolution to this drama yet?
  21. So here is my question...I am assuming that the basic rec is 100% CO or a mix of animal fat and CO with a 0% superfat and fragrance. Do I need to add Borax or washing soda as well and if I do, when? I can't seem to find just a simple rec with instructions. TIA
  22. I am considering ordering the Baker's Dozen Sampler kit from BCN and I was wondering what you all thought about the following scents as choices all for use in CP soaping... Almond Amaretto Lavender Basil Sandalwood Vanilla Sweet Pea Champagne Egg Nog Fuzzy Navel Nag Champa Sandalwood Sunflowers type Tuti Fruti Ylang Ylang I'm beginning to see that I am going to need more room for soaping stuff!LOL Thanks for any advice.
  23. Ahhh how descriptive! I love it! LOL So it has been 6 days and slowly but surely, my soap is turning black, but it looks so bad!!! The scent has mellowed out and my nose and eyes are back to normal. But I don't think I am going to ever try that again!
