  1. I found a dirt scent.......but may I ask what you are going to scent "dirt"....my curiosity is getting the best of me! http://www.charlestoncandlecompany.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/6/subcatid/24/id/3302
  2. Thats the way I've been making them....and I was scared there for a minute that I was doing it wrong.....works great tho! lol
  3. The water slide decals are wonderful since you can use any image for them...even personalize them for weddings or baby showers, etc! They ARE however a little tricky and there are a few things that the instructions don't really tell ya. When you get ready lemme know and I'll help you thru it with what I have learned!
  4. have you thought about making your own decals from water slide decals? just a thought.
  5. do you also add wax to fill in the hole where the socket fits? (since the socket isn't tight against the wax)
  6. Thats the first I've heard of someone using a griddle......what a great idea!!
  7. I have never found them in craft stores, that would work in my inkjet printer....but beldecal.com has them (white sheets for images with white in them, since an inkjet will not print white - and clear for images that don't require white OR are going to be placed on white candles). They are wonderful, and I've used them on all KINDS of things. Follow the directions carefully tho, don't skip steps.....and don't submerge them as long as the instructions say, or you'll wash away all the "glue". I also put MORE coats of clear kote on than they say, seems to last alot longer this way.

  9. I recently made my niece for her bridal shower a candle gift basket and called it "Honeymoon at Home - Margaritaville". I made a coconut tropical drink candle, several flip flop floating candles, votives in all sorts of tropical scents placed in clear votive cups that had tropical decals. I also put in two real margarita glasses, tequila, strawberry mix, a squeeze lime, made a Jimmy Buffet cd, a salt shaker with "lost shaker of salt" decal. I put all these in a very large oblong basket lined with a pineapple towel and added some neutral straw base (didn't want to have to deal with sand). It was a huge hit, and I had such fun making it. Most supplies I found at the dollar store. I received a call in February, about what a wonderful "2nd honeymoon" they had at home!!
  10. I don't mean to bust anyones bubble.....but I was looking into making pinecone firestarters a couple of years ago. My cousin is the captain of the Fire Department, so I asked him about the safety of these. He told me that pinecones are NOT to be burned in fireplaces in your home, under any circumstances. Bottom line, the sap (Creosote) builds up in the fireplace flu very quickly, and causes fires in the flu of your chimney. I asked him about the alternative of making sawdust muffins and he said this is much safer, but still should only be used occasionally. Both however are GREAT for starting campfires and smelling wonderful when camping or having a bonfire outside!!
