  1. Now, for our disclaimer......Just because we can make money selling these finished products, doesn't mean that everyone can. Some people just can't seem to accomplish even the simplest of task. You need common sense and a little "get up and go". If you can't manage to do what we can, please don't complain to us. We have plenty of customer who can.

I was a little shocked to see this. Am I missing something?

    :confused::confused::confused::confused:

  2. Hi,

I was looking through a bunch of different recipes earlier and came across a couple of things that I don't recognize. Can someone please tell me what they are and what they do please?

    1) Cocamidopropyl Betaine

    2) Cocamide DEA

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

eta: Where can you get them too??

  3. I use the CD wicks and have about 6 scents that soot. It does not matter what size jar, wick, fragrance amount, color or not, or whether they are single or double wicked.

After months of pulling my hair out, someone told me (can't remember who) that there are times when a scent with vanillan will do that. A couple of them were vanilla scents and a few had vanillan in with the spice blend. The last was one that had a miniscule amount of vanillan, even so that you could not detect it. But it seems that the vanillan was counteracting with some of the other ingredients and caused the sooting.

Now that was over a year ago, before my shoulder surgery, and I have not tried those fragrances since. But I would be very interested to know what other results you get. I got so frustrated that I refused to even make the scents, even in melts, for a while!!

  4. I use the plastic drawer organizers from Dollar Tree as a loaf mold. They hold 4 lbs of soap perfectly. I have one for each scent plus a couple of extras in case I am doing more than one batch of a scent at a time or one breaks and I am in the middle of a batch. No they don't last as long as the WSP silicone ones but for $1 vs $14 who really cares! I've been using them for a couple of years and only cracked 2 and only because I dropped them on my tile floor and they landed on a corner, while they were full so they were rigid AND heavy.

Also I like that they all stack inside of each other and I can just cover them in cling wrap between uses so they don't take up a lot of room but they still stay clean and free of dust when I store them.

Would you mind posting a picture of them? I am looking for someone less expensive to start to make sure I like this soap thing before I spend a fortune on molds.

  5. I will have to get some of the EBC and see if it makes a difference. I will check out their soap and look at getting some. Is there anyone in particular that works best for this recipe since I am sure they have tons to choose from?

eta: What other things do people recommend from their site?

  6. I agree with the bubbles or lack thereof does not affect the ability of the soap to clean. But people do think that if there are no bubbles or lather then the soap is not working.

I guess I am just trying to do both. Get a great bar with the lathers that people like.

Prairie: If I chose to skip the butters all together, should I sub something in its place. I would like to try it without the Shealoe to see if that makes a difference until I get some other butters in.

Also, thank you so much for all your help. I feel so stupid sometimes when I ask questions and I truly appreciate your willingness to help me out and allow me to learn from you. :D

  7. I got my SLSA in a co-op that I did. I still have some left that I bought extra if you want some. I also got Citric Acid so needless to say, I won't be needing either of those any time soon!! :laugh2:

I will have to look in my notes to see how much I added the Olive Oil M&P I made. My daughter says it lathers really, really good but I have not tried it yet.
