  1. I need a pink that will not morph in cp soap. Can someone please help me.
  2. I agree do not let the first layer become completely solid. I make rolled soap and if I wait to long to pour the second layer no matter how much alcohol the don't adhere.
  3. I like kiss of twilight and bitten as suggested by others.
  4. Hi LuminousBoutique I hope this helps. I set my oven at 170, I make my salt bars using the cp method with no problem. While I am making the soap batter. I warm my wooden mold in the oven. After the soap is in the mold I place the mold back in the oven for about an hour or so, some turn the oven off and just let the soap sit in the warm oven I leave the oven on until I take the soap out. As soon as the soap is cool enought to handle I cut it into bars. If you let the soap cool down completely you will not beable to cut it. If you do not want to use the oven method (cpop method) you can pour the soap into molds that you use for melt & pour soap. If you use the cpop method you need to have one of the molds on hand because you will end up with more batter than your mold can hold. I never resized my recepie because i use the leftovers for myself. The soap that is in the smaller molds I just let them cure at room temp. They are just as good as the other soap the colors just arent as deep as the soap that went into the oven. I think it is because it don't go through the gel stage. Good luck!
  5. I superfat at 8%. Also, after the soap is in the mold I put it in the oven @ 170 degrees for about or so and cut as soon as it is cool enough to handle (do not let it cool completely) or you will look funny using that big log of salt soap to take a shower:laugh2:
  6. Thanks Jcandleattic I will wait a few days and see what happens.
  7. I used soapcalc for lye amounts. I just cut a piece off and washed my hands, its not as oily inside and it lathers quite nicely. I also checked the ph and it is 8. Is it possible that i used too much oil? Oh! if there is anyone with suggestions on rebathing please help. I have tried rebatching with more failures than successes.
  8. This is the same basic recipe that i normally use with the addition of almond meal (1 cup to 39 oz of oil). Oils I Used Olive Palm Palm kernel flakes Coconut Shea Butter Cocoa Butter Rice Bran Castor 50% hard oils-50% soft oils I have had trouble in the past getting a full gel so i decided to used the cpop method to force gel (i use cpop with my salt bars with much success). Everthing looked normal until i peaked in the oven and the horror! I had approx. 1/8 inch of oil sitting on top of my soap, not to metioned the oil leaking out of the sides. It has been about 24 hours and the oil has absorbed back into the oil. It is still oily to the touch. If anyone has insight into what happened I would welcome the feedback. Thanks
  9. Thanks for all advice it has been very helpful
  10. first of all thanks for your help. I think i will do as you suggested and let it cure for awhile. Another question, when using any milk (ie coconut milk) should i not gel? I added gm at light trace, should the gm be frozen and what temp should i mix my oils and lye solution?
  11. Hi everyone, i finally made my first and second batch of cp soap. I made a oatmeal, milk, and honey using goats milk , honey and i forgot to put in the oatmeal but thats not the problem. I made the batch a week ago and i dont know if i cut it too soon or if recipe is off. The bar is not smooth where the cut is. It did start to gel as soon as i poured into the mold. Here is the recipe i used: Cocoa Butter 2.5% Cocout Oil 15% Shea Butter 2.5% Olive Oil 30% Palm Oil 15% Palm Kernel Flakes 17% Rice Bran Oil 13% Castor oil 5% I ran the recipe through soapcal and used half of the water in the lye solution and the other half i used goats milk and added at a light trace. i also added honey
