  10. thank you so very much. any new soap is a surprise but when i was taht glob I paniced.
  11. thank you, I will go ahead and make it and let you know. I think next time I will stick to regular beer instead of ale. I think this will come out real brown. Oh should I let it gell or no?
  12. I bought a bottle of absolute bastard ale a week ago only thing in the grocery that you could get and not have to buy a six pack of, left it open pouring it from pitcher to pitcher so it would go flat. Today I decide I am going to make a batch of beer soap or try to. This is a first for me, begin adding the lye slowley and poof it goes nutso and foams up to the top of the pitcher. we survive that one and i finish adding the lye and mixing and put it outside to cool off. I go out to check the temp and on top of it is a layer of stuff... what kind of stuff you ask???? got me but its thick and gelly like and the cooler it gets the thicker it is. Is it still good? Can I go ahead and make soap with it? or should I start over and make goats milk or something else?
  13. I make my own mold for the most part and glue them together. line em with a plastic trash bag. Now i have to tell ya the bags can make for interesting ends but a little trimming and the log is good to go. I have cut pieces of wood to fit inside so I can make small trial batches and dont have to have twenty molds sitting around. works well for me.
  14. its called Fetish, Designed to tickle your fancy and scented with Lustful Dreams.
  15. I met a soap maker at work who says she makes avacado soap and her spa lady said it seems to have made a difference in the pores in her face. I really dont know after two years I am still pretty much a rookie and working on things.
  16. can someone tell me please. I know the basic bar is often coconut, palm kerrnel, olive, but I add crisco and cocoa butter, or shea butter or what ever is in the cubbard. So just how much does it take to actully be able ot call it a day....Avacado bar
  17. Can someone please tell me, just how much of say avacado oil dos it take to be able to call a bar an avacado soap? I usually add at least 2 ozs of sosmething , cocoa butter, shea butter to every bar I make, so was wonderig just how much do you have to add to make it really an avacado bar. thanks
  18. can yu tell me the difference between lotion bars, balms, cremes and now sugar cubes? What kind of container do you put em in? I have been making soap for a while now and read this forum daily. Have started making what I call a balm, all oils, no beating and putting it in a jar. With a perservative of course but.... I love the sound of some of the other things you are making and just dont know what to put them in. Thanks
  19. I have made two for myself and believe me I am no carpenter but they work. I used pine. I drilled holes and put in dowles and glued them together. so far so good. I line mine with trash bags and after probably 24 batches of soap, they are still holding up well. I want to swirl and am finally starting to make some progress so I designed a 12 x 7 box for that purpose. that is an inside measurement. I will be pouring only 1 1/4 inch think so I am pretty sure the swirls will finally reach the bottom instead of only going half way thru. good luck and happy soaping
  20. I am now ready to begin package my soap and want to use the heat and shrink wrappers. But dont know which ones, when you purchase them they are either in a rool only like 4 inches wide. they can come already cut or you can cut them. Now the problem are they tubes or sleeves? and any ideas where to get them? I want to use the cigar bands and shrink wraps with the ends left open for smell a vision.
  21. I have been thinking about my wrapping of my soap and want to get the shrink wrap but am confused, the stuff that comes like a tube and you cut it off or in short sections, open at both ends, is it a sleeve or a tube? Any suggestions on where to get it from? Thanks
  22. thank you for all your responses. I am going to try just one bar out of a batch and see what happens. He told me he has a friend that loves the smell of garlic. It cant hurt to try it . I will keep you posted
  23. I have a gentleman that is asking for a bar of garlic soap. I am thinking OMG but .... what would happen if I put real pulverized garlic in a sample bar? That is besides it drivin me out of my soaping room. Do you think the scent would stick?

  25. I see the list of scents that rock in soaps but... which ones do men like? I recently did a mix of lemon, eucalyptus and tea tree oil. Two and a half lbs batch of oils, , one ounce of lemon, about quarter ounce of eucalyptus and a a dribble of tea tree oil. Went over very well with the guys at work.
