  1. lets say six months. I have noticed that after about three months, the left over bars I have on the shelf, that most of the scent is gone or mostly gone. I have noticed it with peppermint, and I love my peppermint. I would love it if they smelled as good after three months as they do right out of the mold . Now there is still some scent but it just isnt the same. and by the way thanks
  2. what can you use to keep te eo's and fo's in your soap longer? I have read that orris root and baing soda . But how do you use them? Wen do you add them and do they work?
  3. Titanium Dicoxide is to help get or keep soap white. But what if any affect does it have on colors? Trying to swirl so just checking cause it says to add to the water Cucumber melon soap ? If I put in a cucumber is it part of the water or should I strain it and add at trace? Will it discolor? If it discolors any idea what color it might be? ( dont want it to be like lavander if you dont grind it and have i look like little mouse dropping in my bars)
  4. thanks in advance. I have said the name of this fo so many time in my head I cant remember what it is. Hopefully you can help me yet again . I know its tweed and its a man scent. English something tweed I think . thanks again
  5. I started making soap using a 6 lb mold. Recently I made a mold for 2.5 lbs of oil. nice not to have 20 bars of one soap sitting around but... with the change in my oil weight I noticed the bars feel oily after full gel. Now at first I thought maybe it was because I was adding the shea butter at trace so I tried adding it with the rest of the oils and it still feels oily. I have been using a plastic bag to line my mold and even the bag feels extremely oily. Now after about a week of curing the oil seems to absorb and it no longer feels slick. Any one have any idea what the cause might be?
  6. made two batches this week, I am still a rookie but thought I would try and share one. Cucumber/Melon not sure this will work+ isnt real pretty but the photo was taken with my cell phone.
  7. yes Oh thank you very much. It is now safely bookmarked on this computer
  8. thank you for taking the time to respond but no. The site I am looking for has alot of the soaps , cosmetics and how they are harmful to the skin and body. Including the cancer causeing ingredients. Old age is setting in and well I cant remember it let alone where I found it in the first place. seems to be mostly for the dangerous additives in store bought products.
  9. I recently changed computers and lost a link to a web site taht listed alot of the soap and scosmetic products and what the contents were and how they affect you. Can any one provide a link for me so I can find it again Please.
  10. Its not a plan it actually worked. After reading about all the stuck pipe soup, I was afraid to try it. So I bought freezer paper and the silicone liner . Put the paper in first then the silocone and ,,,, when I took the bottom off the pip I shook it a couple of times and out it slipped. Just as -++++++pretty as a picture. I am a relatice rookie so the last thing K need is another problem wth my soap.
  11. I would imagine many of you have tried this but I havent seen it and sis it today so thought I would share. I lined my mold with a silicone baking sheet purchased from walmart and my soap is gonna slide right out. Thank heavens I thought I was gonna have to beat it .

  14. Thank you for the input. Now I have a better starting place. So far I have made two batches of cp soap and they were from a kit. Now kits are nice but I dont have a clue as to how to add different things to them. I have found the kits to have a nice lather but seem to be jsut a bit drying for my tired skin. lol Again thank you, I will put this into the cal. and put it together tomorrow. Yes I get to make soap. oh and I am taking notes

  17. Thank you for the responses. I kept putting my hand under the blankets could not believe how hot it was under there, Dumped it the next morning and was very surprised it plopped right out, It didn't run out So it is curing on the table Hooray its soap. Now more questions, How long till I can wrap it up. Do I just let it sit for the cure period. and I want to make more..... I think I may be hooked. Thanks to this forum for all of the info on making soap.
  18. I know no peeking but it really is hard not too. I made my very first batch of cp this morning. In between my puppy eatting a piece of mp soap and foaming at the mouth, and the phone ringing. its amazing that I got it to trace. I think. At any rate it is in the mold. Now for questions. 1. When using a stick blender , what I have read is to only use it for 30 second intervals, Is that correct? And just stir for a few minutes in between? Then use it again? 2. Which blade thingy should I use for the blender> It came with three, a whip, a blender for drinks, and the one that grinds meat. Thanks for all the encouraging reading for us rookies.
  19. I am a wanta be soaper and have been reading alot but havent started anything yet. The more I read the more questions I seem to come up with. So the first question is, can soap cure in the cold? Well in temps say under 60? Its starting to get chilly here and I dont usually use the heater in the house during the day as I work. So temps can stay pretty low. In the summer I can leave them outside but in winter? thanks in advance
