What does this FO smell like? And what was the reasoning behind them pulling it out of their lineup? I don't recall but I do know that everyone raved about it.

When testing wicks in containers you look for clean burning (wick not smoking etc). Sometimes you see a puff of black. Is this ok if it occasionally does this? (I know it may do this when someone walks past or if there is a draft). I was test burning a container and I seen the occasional black puff when there wasn't any drafts etc. And would you consider your container clean burning as long as your container doesn't have black soot left on it after burning the candle? Just trying to get this testing crap down pat.

but will a wick smoke when there is a draft (such as a person walking by)? It seems fine when just sitting there but when you walk by there is a puff of black smoke. I know....dumb question.

Does anyone use this wax? Just wondering how it compares to IGI 4786. ALso what kind of wick do you use with the 4630? The website where I seen this wax suggested HTP wicks. Just curious to see what people think of this wax.:undecided

I am going to try my hand at CP soap and have a few supplies on hand (may need to get more oils) but I don't have any colours for soap. Is there anything "natural" that you could use to colour it? I thought I seen somewhere that you could use things besides dye to colour soap.

Does anyone know of an alternative to using pour pots? I have a presto that I melt my wax in and I use the pot to mix FO and colour in and I only have one pour pot at the moment. Is there anything else you could use in a pinch?

Do you find that it is economical printing your own (what with the price of ink refills etc)?

For those of you who do your own labels how exactly do you make them? Do you use a program that prints them on labels (on your own computer printer) or do you take them to a print shop somewhere? How do you get the fonts etc. on them? (I'm totally stupid when it comes to this in case you haven't figured that out yet ) I was looking at the PrimGraphics website and wondered if you could use something like this to make your own labels. Can anyone help me please? All information on label making is greatly appreciated.

Color For Bazooka Bubble Gum

I used 2 fuschia chips in 1/2 lb IGI 1286 wax and it turned out a bubblegum pink. When I first put the chip in it didn't turn the wax any colour at all so I added the second chip and still nothing. Left it overnight and by morning it was bubble gum pink. -
Does anyone here blend wax to come up with a wax they like? I've seen several posts where people say they use a blend of two kinds of waxes and was curious to know what people use and how they came up with their blend.

I am going to use the apothecary jars with the black lids. I was thinking of tying some raffia on the lids or something along that line. I'm not sure of what kind of label to go with. Any other opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for everyone's opinions so far!!

I've been tossing that name around for a while and the only thing that was holding me back was I don't know about the rustic theme (like 7Angela7 mentioned). :embarasse Any ideas on how to do the rustic thing? (I haven't gotten much into pillars yet). Do you think it would matter if it wasn't a rustic theme?

I just poured this scent last night before I went to work. I wasn't too crazy about it OOB but this morning I loved the smell of it! Can't wait to burn it in a few days.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I usually add the colour first but must've had a brain fart! When I got home from work this morning I checked my candle and it had turned from white to pink. Not exactly fuschia but a very pretty pink. Wow, I never would have guessed it would change after.

I used 1/2 pound IGI 1286 and put in 1/2 oz of Fruit Smoothie FO then realized, DUH, :embarasse I forgot to add the colour so I put in one colour chip of Fuschia. There was absolutely no colour change at all. Would this be because I added the FO first?

I just received a sample of Witch's Brew from Village Craft and Candle (in Canada) and it smells like black licorice.

1. I've got some 1 oz samples from Peak's and I would like to test 2 different kinds of waxes with the scents. Should I use 1/2 oz of FO to one kind of wax and 1/2 oz to another? Can you get an accurate test doing it this way? :embarasse 2. How many testers of each FO do you test? (i.e. once you get the wick you think is right do you test another one to be sure it is right.) I want to do some testing but don't want to order bigger bottles of scent til I know whether it has good hot throw etc. and whether I like it or not.

Will UV inhibitor help candles from fading even if they aren't exposed to ultraviolet light? I have some votives that are fading in colour and they have been in the cupboard for months now. I also made a container candle and it faded when I burned it and it was only a week or two old (it was never exposed either).
