  1. What is the difference between a 44-24-18z and a 44-32-18z wick? Is there much difference when burning these wicks?
  2. I've been testing 2 containers (16 oz mason jars) one with a 51-32-18z and the other with 60-44-18z. Wax is 4786 and FO is 1oz/PP cinnamon buns. The smaller wick won't give it a full melt pool and the bigger wick gets a good melt pool but smokes a lot even when trimmed. I don't believe there is a wick in between (or is there) so I'm wondering if I should try a different wick such as cotton or whatever, something that may fit in between these two wicks. Anyone have any wick suggestions that may fit into this category? :undecided Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the replies. Will try them out.
  4. When it says to cool slowly (for mottled candles) how do you go about cooling slowly? Do you wrap them with something? :embarasse
  5. Just wanted to say:wave: and welcome aboard Cathy!
  6. Those two would be my suggestion also. I wish we had the selection here. If you order from the U.S. let me know how you make out. HAve thought about ordering but not too sure of the price with shipping etc.
  7. Oops, I guess I should have stated that I am using a 10 apothecary jar with 36-24-z wicks but may try some other wicks since they (the 36's) seem to burn too fast. (I've been testing one this week and so far have burned it about 28 hours and there is maybe 1/2 inch left in the jar or another 5 hours or so). I'm thinking it should get a lot more burn time than that. :undecided
  8. I've just finally gotten around to using my EZ Wick system. Works great with the single wick but I have a question with using it to double wick (I do have both the single and multi one). How far apart do you put your wicks. The rods are touching when I put them close but when I put another space in between it seems off. How far apart do you put the rods when double wicking? (in total there are 7 holes across it and I have put a rod in the 3rd one in on each side leaving one hole in between the rods). Does this make any sense? :undecided
  9. Love em. Wish I could get my hands on some of those heart dishes here in Canada. :undecided
  10. Now I feel really stupid. :o I know what the flower pots are just couldn't figure out the short form for them. Ok I'm going to crawl back into the hole I just come outta......... :tiptoe:
  11. Ok stupid ? but what is a FP votive? :embarasse
  12. Ditto what Trish said. The glue dots always come loose after pouring the wax. Wick stick em's are the way to go, IMO.
  13. Welcome from a fellow Canadian! I've ordered from www.canwax.com (located in Mississauga, ON) and I've also ordered from www.villagecraftandcandle.com (located in St. Mary's, ON). Both offer great customer service. I like to order my FO's from Peak's. HTH,
  14. oops guess we were posting at the same time. I've had it with all FO's. I double wick them with 36 z's and they get a good melt pool all the way to the edges. Could it be the temp at which they are poured?
  15. I made some containers with 4786 and they burned pretty good but it's leaving some wax on sides of containers. It's not hangup but rather like a thick film left in spots on containers. Has anyone else had this problem?
  16. I have some M&P soap that I am going to do. I read the M&P how to and I was wondering if there are any household things that could be used for molds? :undecided Thanks
  17. Awesome stuff!! Hopefully it snowballs from here!
  18. Awww, that really bites big time. Hopefully you'll do better at your next one.
  19. Do they go by the price of the goods shipped for brokerage fees?
  20. Wowzers Sharon! Your display looks fabulous. It's no wonder you had such a great show. Like prairieannie said I too would be drawn to your booth.
  21. Hi Celicagtca: Beautiful containers. May I ask you where you get your jars? I'm from Canada also and was wanting to use the apoth with black lids but they are unavailable til at least January so I was wanting to try something new. Are they much like the apoth's diameter wise? Thanks, Izzy :smiley2:
  22. I have some jelly jars that are 500 ml and I think they may be equivalent to 16 oz jelly jars. I went to a conversion chart and come up with this number: 500 milliliter = 16.9070113 ounce [uS, liquid] So am I correct in thinking my 500 ml jar is a 16 oz jar? I know stupid question but I want to set it straight before I start testing etc. :embarasse
