  1. True... guess it depends on what you're aiming for. I make a super scrubby Mechanic's Soap and had one customer ask for custom bars with even more coffee grounds and pumice for her picky husband. He said it wasn't scrubby enough! :rolleyes2 Guess he doesn't want any skin on his hands
  2. Yes, you do. The scent doesn't carry through. At least not with ANY of the soaps I've made with fresh coffee grounds (at least 10 lbs worth).
  3. I only use fresh coffee grounds. I didn't like how the used turned out. And we don't drink coffee, so it's easier to use fresh for me.
  4. I finally had some that turned colors, but only in the glaze. The culprits were NG's Alyssum and KY Eggnog. A co-worker asked for a refill on the Eggnog, and when I opened her bottle, it was a nasty brown. (Yes, I gave her a new bottle, no refills.)
  5. I have TWO stores on Etsy, one for crafts, one for soaps. I like it so far. Eventually I'd like to have my own website, but not any time soon.
  6. Aren't they cute? There's an Etsy seller who does a TON of them. I'm thinking of making a few for an upcoming craft fair to see how they do.
  7. I only add fragrance, and call the glaze a lotion, and the whip a body cream. I prefer the Soy Whip, but do have people who like the glaze.
  8. Try to answer everyone at once - The shaving was direct from SFIC from a co-op two times ago (February-ish?). The honey was from KY, where I get all my SFIC from, unless it's a co-op. I emailed Vickey and she said no one else has complained about the honey. The honey is so soft, I can take a metal spoon and spoon it out fairly easily. It was heck getting them out of the molds, and they are so soft I can still make a depression with my thumb and very little pressure. I'll try to get pics posted, my camera isn't liking my comp right now. The shaving can darn near be bent in half. None of my other soaps made off that same block were like that. I rarely use the microwave, and these were done with a double boiler, same as all of mine, nothing was different except the molds. :undecided I checked the tubs of shea and gm, and they are hard. It seems to be just the honey. Vickey from KY forwarded my email to SFIC.
  9. All SFIC? The shaving base was from a swap and I've used almost all of it. That was the first one, and it's almost rubbery. The second (with fo/color) was honey, a new container that I haven't used before... Those two are SOFT. Even after sitting out a few hours now, I can make dents in them just by pushing. I've never had that before!
  10. I was at Michael's on Friday and checked out their soap molds. I ended up buying a set of the square Life of the Party molds and the rubber stamp inserts. I tried one when I get home with straight SFIC shaving base and an insert. No color, no fo. I took it out the next morning and it's rubbery. It came out fine though. Saturday I did two with inserts, two different fo's and mica, straight SFIC base. When I got home from work tonight, I finally got them out. They are mangled and soooo soft. It's like they didn't harden at the bottom (top) of the mold. Has anyone successfully used these?
  11. Thanks again everyone. I decided on "Forest Moss" for the name due to the fragrance description. Which I can't find on Tony's anymore.... :undecided
  12. Haunt has GORGEOUS soaps. I love the look of "Bittersweet"!
  13. Hi Jo, I just emailed it to you. Sorry for the delay!
  14. FunFlames - You can get canned goat's milk at most Super Walmarts. One near me has it, the other two don't! Strange.
  15. I'll pm it to you, I don't have permission to cross post it. I did one with kpangnan butter, goat's milk and dss. It turned out ok, but the salt that was sprinkled on top turned the areas around it white. It looked pock marked and I didn't care for how it looked. It was nice in the shower, and my friend loved it, but I won't sell it! I made it like two months ago and still have some in the shower and it hasn't fallen apart yet or melted.
  16. Goat's Milk/Shaving M&P, Tony's Black Pepper FO All the green is Green Apple POP (Apple Green?), the darker/greyish has some black added to the green POP. The gold ribbons are one of the gold micas from the same company. Both versions of the green are mildly sparkly. I was going to call it Camoflauge (sp?), but now I'm not so sure.
  17. Looks like a confetti birthday cake! Gorgeous!
  18. SFIC bases do NOT have detergents. http://www.sficcorp.com/about_sfic_soap_info_home.htm
  19. Dehumidifier is done. Blown motor. I just purchased it 5/15!
  20. We have a big, open basement, so I'm not concerned about the heat. I checked the dehumidifier this morning, and the bucket was empty (emptied yesterday morning), and it still said 72% humidity. It smelled funny, so I turned it off and DH will check it tonight We just got this one about a month ago, it better not have died yet, those are expensive!
  21. http://www.allthatscraps.com or your local scrapbook store!
