  1. I recently received a little of this and was wondering how I can use it. If anyone has used it before, I would sure like to know about this. How did you use it, in what product, what were the results, etc. TIA cottoncandy
  2. I have some White Willow Bark that I would like to use in a balm for my moms hands. It is powder form. Should I infuse this in oil or I have read to infuse in water. I have some Arnica already infused in Oil, can I use some of this and add the Willow to it. Any help will be appreciated. cottoncandy
  3. I have a recipe for some roll-on oil for menstrual pain. It calls for linden blossom. It is a blend of this and other oils. I need about 3/4 of an ounce. I cannot afford Linden Blossom Absolute. I need to know if I infuse dried linden blossom in Olive or some other light oil, can I use this in place of the absolute. Any help is appreciated, as I really would like to make this for my daughter. She has terrible pains every month that sometimes nearly disable her. TIA cottoncandy
  4. Yes, it is almost exactly like mine. I like the idea of the coffee. Think I will try yours. Mine just said pumice, not how much or when. Thanks for the quick answers and help. cottoncandy
  5. I would like to make a pumice soap for my son. He drives a log truck and comes home really greasy most times. I have a pretty good recipe, but I would like to add some pumice to it. I have never used it, but I have some fine ground and would like to use it, but I don't know how much I should add. If anyone has used this please let me know how much to add. My recipe makes 2 pounds of soap. Also, when do I add the pumice? Do I add it at trace or mix with my oils? Any and all help is very greatly appreciated. olive oil 47% coconut oil 23.5% palm oil 23.5% lanolin added at trace 6% Sandalwood Fragrance oil TIA cottoncandy
  6. I read on another forum about using Lechitin (spelling) in soap when using a fast tracing FO. I have not tried it, but do have some on order. I was just wondering if anybody here has tried it and if so what was the results. I have a couple of scents that trace fast and am going to try it in one. If anyone has tried this, was is successfull? If not, I will post my results after I try it.
  7. Guess I am kinda late reading this post. If you are still having trouble locating the cornmeal, look at this site on eBay. I buy some stuff from her and always get good quality, quick shipping and very friendly service. She sells in small amounts so you can try stuff before you buy a large quantity. eBay Seller: patriciameeks: Home Arts Crafts, Natural Homeopathic Remedies items on eBay.com Hope this helps a little. 8. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!! These are so incredibly easy. Can't tell you how many hours I spent trying to do this, and now I can do it in a few minutes. You really made my day, and they fit my soap perfectly. Thanks again cottoncandy :yay: :yay:
  9. I would also like the word. I have been trying for some time to get one made, unsuccessfully I might add. TIA cottoncandy
  10. After I took it out of the mold and let it sit on the counter, if firmed up very nice. Smells awesome. After about an hour on the counter, I was able to cut it and got perfect bars. I just don't understand why it didn't go to gel. That kinda threw me. I got this recipe from someone else, and since it was new for me, I followed it the first time, so I don't know why so much castor. I don't normally use that much. Next time I will cut it down. Thank you ladies for the response. Every time I have had a problem or a question, I have gotten a great response. I just love this forum. Thanks again cottoncandy
  11. this is a new recipe for me that I made yesterday. I gel all of my soaps, but for some reason this one did not gel, even though it went through the "heat cycle". When I took it out of the mold today, it is firm around the edges, but seems very soft in the middle. I have not cut it yet. Below is the recipe I used for 3 pounds. Can some one tell me what might have happened. Sweet Almond 20.5% Cocoa Butter 2.25% Mango Butter 2.25% Golden Shea 2.25% Palm 11% Castor 16% Pomace Olive 15.25% Coconut 30.5% I have never had a soap come out soft in the middle. I used a plastic tray for a mold, lined with freezer paper and insulated very well. Soap was at thick trace when poured. Used Cotton Blossom FO at 1 ounce ppo. Normally when I use this mold, I can unmold and cut the next day, with firm soap. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions or help appreciated.
  12. I second the freezer paper and I don't reuse. Can't seem to get it off in 1 piece.
  13. I have a couple of recipes that are mostly lard and I love them. The bars are so white and hard. I don't seem to have any problem with room temp. so far. All of my soaps are made at room temp.
  14. Thank all you soapers for the answer to my question. I guess I will find a pumpkin FO, and just use the spices on top. Cottoncandy
  15. I would like to make a batch with Pumpkin Pie Spice, using the real spice. I don't know if this will work, but we have a pretty big (for this area) show coming up this fall and I would like to get some made and ready. Can someone tell me if this is possible. I do not want to use any FO, just the spice. Will the scent come through and how much should I use. If the scent won't come through with just the spices, what is the best fo to use. Most that I have checked out say not skin safe, for candles only. Any and all help appreciated. TIA Cottoncandy
  16. I made Salt Bars for the first time today. Been wanting to try them, so I'll see. I would like to make a batch with Pumpkin Pie Spice, using the real spice. I don't know if this will work, but we have a pretty big (for this area) show coming up this fall and I would like to get some made and ready. Can someone tell me if this is possible. 17. I have been reading about all the butters that are now available to us and how expensive they are. I was wondering if anybody has tried to make their own. Example, Lavender or Chamomile butter. I would love to try this. From what I have been reading, they are mostly almond oil, lavender extract, and hydrogenated vegetable oil. If anyone has tried this, I would really like to know their experience. If not, I think maybe I will try over the weekend. Would Lavender EO and Lavender extract be the same.
  18. Sorry, I forgot to add the pic. Braindead today.
  19. My granddaughter is getting married in a few months and this would be perfect for wedding favors that I could make for her. I have searched through all that I can find about clamshells and can not find one. Any help would be appreciated. TIA Cottoncandy
  20. Here is a link I found on SD. http://www.soapdishforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86644&hl=Apres+Glow hope this is what you want. I just might have to try this one myself.
  21. I sincerely thank you ladies for all the helpful suggestions. I purchased this off of eBay, and already have received and soaped with it. I will hopefully be able to tell a difference when I get to use it. I bought 6 ozs and he sent me 8 ozs, so I am assuming I will probably have enough for at least a year or longer as I don't make but about 2--3 lb batches a month.
  22. sent you a pm If you would like a link let me know and I will send you one. He had more.
  23. I found this silk on ebay. This is what the seller says about this product: You are bidding 100% tussah silk sliver bleached white. It was designed for authentic spinning or blend with any natural fibers to achieve earth-tone color. It has luxurious appeal & superior fineness, heavenly soft hand/touch and makes an excellent gift, artworks or hand-spinning. Very rare fiber to find and spin. Ideal for any hand spinners as novelty/exotic gifts or hard-to-find collection. I would like to know if this is okay to use in my soap or if I need to find another kind. I have never used silk, but after reading so much about it I would like to give it a try.
  24. I have been trying to formulate my own recipe and here are my numbers. I hope they look good, as this is my very first recipe. Hardness 49 Cleansing 21 Condition 45 Bubbly 21 Creamy 28 Iodine 49 INS 163 Any input will be appreciated. Cottoncandy
  25. I had the same problem with using "Malibus", and finally decided that to stand them up on end, they looked upside down and awkward, so I decided to turn them the other way. The labels, not the bottles. Cottoncandy
