  3. I also use a liquid. I put the fragrance oil on a cotton ball and add this to the zip lock bag. By putting it on a cotton ball and closing up the bag, your FO doesn't cause clumps in your powders or salts.
  4. This is a recipe I use and it has lots of bubbles that really last. I make this for my 2 & 3 year old grandsons and they just love it. Silky Suds 16 oz. baking soda 4 oz. citric acid 8 oz. sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSA) 7 oz. sea salt 3.5 oz. dry non-fat milk fragrance oil (25 drops, more or less) skin safe colorant, if desired 1. Place baking soda, fo and colorant in a gallon ziplock bag and zip shut. Make sure you squeeze the air out of the bag first. Knead the bag as if you were kneading bread dough. This will help to work in the fo and colorant. You may need to keep adding colorant until you reach the desired shade. Colorant is tricky...you don't want to add too much so add a drop at a time. You can always add more. Remember that you will be diluting the color so to speak when you add the rest of the ingredients. 2. Once you've reached your desired color, add the citric acid and SLSA. Again, knead the bag. 3. Add your sea salt and dry milk. Again, knead the bag. Add 3 tbsp. to bath. You can leave out the SLSA, for a regular milk bath. The SLSA makes it a bubble bath. I think this recipe came from Snowdrift Farm, but just can't remember and right now can't get their site to pull up. I think you will really like this recipe.
  5. Whew!!! I am glad it is not just happening to me. Beginning to wonder there for a while. Second day I can't get it to open. I can do a search, click on the lotions tutorial, and it will open that page only. If I try to go anywhere off that page, it says--Can't find site. Maybe Snowdrift is just having problems with their site (I hope, hope). Hopefully it will be back up in a few days. Thanks Ladies for all the answers I get here. :yay: :yay: :yay:

  9. I too, am still fairly new, about 1 yr. I have a small digital scale that came from Wal-Mart. So far, so good. It will weigh in both ounces and grams. It also has the tare. It wasn't very expensive, around 40-45 dollars I think. Would also like to welcome you to this very addictive world. :yay:
  10. I ran across an old discussion about making soap with 100% coconut oil and superfatting at 20%. I am still new to all of this and the coconut oil sounds scrumptious. I use the soapcalc at MMS and it only goes to 10%. This one says they do not recommend using this percentage. If you go over the 8%, wouldn't you get really soft bar of soap. Can someone please help me with this. On the other discussion board, it stated that this was really a bubbly bar and not drying because of the 20% superfat.
  11. Thanks for all the info. I have been reading alot about the emu oil and I am going to talk to him and see if he wants to give this a try. I have never used this in anything, but if he wants to try it, we will give it a go. If this doesn't work then maybe we will try some of the other things. I really appreciate the info that I get from this board. Everyone is always ready to try to help others. I am still sort of new to B&B, I am addicted bad. I guess this is a way to get to try something new, like I need something new. I have so many things I want to make. Thanks again for all the help. :highfive:
