  1. spongey - do you mean like warped on top? Or is it like perhaps kind of bubbly looking? If it is bubbly looking it could be one of two things or both. Too much FO (or did not incorporate properly) cooled in an area where the heat was not allowed to escape. So the condensation builds up on the surface of the wax and dries like that. (I had that happened once when I tried to pour and put the lid on right away just to see what would happen)
  2. All of this should be a red flag but the cash thing is a total substandard way of doing business professionally. Anytime you require a service from someone you should never ever deal with cash only business'. Unless they are mowing your lawn Sounds really shady to me. I don't know if this is what your looking for but Wahmshoppes, does an excellent job for me.
  3. People wont buy qty. if they are unsure of the product/scent. I let them mix and match mine, and they are displayed naked. Maybe consider selling in sixes but maybe mix and match scents? This would kind of do away with the boxes tho
  4. Ditto Votives are 85% of my sales. We sell a uniquely shaped one. We sell the holders they supposed to be burned in, and call the votives "refills".
  5. From a customer point of view, (And I have asked ALOT of people about this) NOBODY CARES!!! LOL Really customers don't buy candles based on the number of wicks. They prefer to base judgment on scent, size, burn quality. <---- In that order. So that being said, wicking single, double or more should be based on the getting the burn quality down. I mean seriously how ridiculous would a jelly jar look with 3 wicks ?:laugh2::laugh2:
  6. Of the wholesale price. So if the cost of mats are 2.00 I would add a % to take as an income like for labor. So lets say 20% well I would add .40 to cost. 2.40 - cost 2.40 x 2 wholesale eerrr, I think I got it, lol. Typing that out brought it too life. You see I got a new account, and she is supplying he jars so I had to re-configure the wholesale price. It seemed really high but in my original formula I used the % AFTER the wholesale price. Before the WS price it is getting double so my labor is more like 40% ROFL. Okay guess I just needed to type it out and get my morning Joe. Thanks
  7. Since I don't really calculate by time I go by %. I cannot remember if I use a 10% or 20%. Which sounds more reasonable to you? Thanks
  8. Those are really pretty!! Good job chica!
  9. I have access but never opened it lol. I did spend the extra $$ for quickbooks, and I have to say it is completely worth it. Heck get an older version. I use Pro 2007 and it makes day to day paper work soooo easy. Would access control inventory? QB can control my ready to sell inventory, but not my oils and wax ect.ect.
  10. Heh good luck! I don't think ANY of us have a clean candle room. I sure don't.
  11. I was thinking the same thing. If your allergic than your allergic. Does not matter with wick or without. If I am allergic to milk drinking it through a straw is not going to make a difference than drinking it by cup.
  12. So I am almost done. I am ready to put them together and I realize I do not know how I am going to do it. Initially I wanted the roses to double as votives too. So the customer could simply pick them off and burn. I don't think I am going to be able to attach the roses with the tab in the candle though. So what I did was just insert the stem into the candle and they look fine. However now they cannot be burned. Well I guess in maybe a melt pot. You think most people would use these as air fresheners or would want to burn them?
  13. You didn't pour the overpour too hot did you? That could cause some bleeding.
  14. Well that's certainly the prettiest Toilet Paper roll I have ever seen. I'm sure it is the best smelling Toilet Paper too, but I'll just take your word for it.
  15. Dude that is awesome! I really should check out this section more often. Love the colors!
  16. Well at least your well prepared when you want to try a different type of candle
  17. Online labels and my frosty clears don't smudge as long as they are completely dry and I don't have greasy/waxy/oily fingers
  18. I personally have not used this wax, (at least that I remember) but if you want to see if it is the wax itself, I would recommend trying it with no FO. To see if you still get soot. I see you have tried different sized wicks. It may just be one of those sooty waxes. Hopefully some will know a little more about this wax.
  19. I was wondering...has anyone had to wick up to make up for the wee bit of pillar wax from the embeds? I think I may try a few of these myself. Like I need more stuff to do uggh, I am already behind .
  20. I will probably call him to see if we can work something out, but I will not be able to host a co-op myself for a couple weeks at least. But if anyone else did one (especially in his area) that would be great too. He is not in driving distance for me so I would still have to have them shipped. So it all depends on if he has tier pricing.
  21. Ooooh I have had this happen. Your FO was waaaaay to thick. When you poured it into the blue wax, the amber tint from the fo made it look green. Your FO never incorporated. Hate to tell ya, but your gonna need to try again with a better FO. The FO should have a smooth light consistency and a light color. Anything darker than a yellow color I have never had good results with. They always sink. Impossible to incorporate. You can heat the FO a bit in warm water, but that has never worked for me. You can stir til your arm falls off, again, never worked for me. Good Luck! Get yourself a prepaid Visa from Wallyworld. OR you can get paypal, most suppliers take that too.
  22. Wow those seem very comparable to Clean Cut. I wonder if he would work out some good pricing for a co-op. If he would, you might see a gauging interest in the co-op section soon.
  23. Because you don't get a relpy within a week they are shitting on you? WTF? It is a busy season. Yeah it may suck on the customer end but ever think maybe she was in over head? Maybe some of her help quit? Maybe something else happened? I think it sucks to wait a week for a reply, but it IS a busy time of year. Another thing I noticed you made it sound like she "purposely" went OOS on stuff. Do you really think she did that? That is lame. I do not think any biz owner purposley goes OOS to spite her customers. But hey maybe that is just my ethic. And maybe just maybe her "choice" to not restock till next year is not her "Choice" but perhaps what she can get from her suppliers? Ya think? I mean who you spend your $$ is up to you and you alone. Of course your opinion on a supplier is exactly that your opinion. However I think you are kinda being a little harsh. I mean you DID order in a timely manner right? I know I cannot stand when my cutomers order their Xmas order for 25 cases 2 weeks before xmas, and expect it to be at their store in a few days. Yeah right. Don't forget to that everything you are implying about this supplier, your customer would have the exact basis to say the same thing about you. JMO of course.
