  1. 45 currently, I will be adding 2 more in the spring, but also dropping 2 scents that have lower sales.
  2. Finish my 2011 goals first... otherwise catalog, add 75-100 more wholesale accounts, pick up a chain store, 2 postcards, get my email newsletter going, redo website. 6 new product catagories, start making Christmas items in May. ..ugh...but i have an aggresive marketing strategy this year.
  3. i dont cover mine until the 2nd repour. It really depends on the fragrance though, certain ones leave a beautiful mottle, the net..nothing happens. Mine has also vaired from each batch of wax i recieve.
  4. i have a pusher for it and what little we got out just broke off. Last one came out very easily. Maybe if i put it outside overnight, supose to get around 25 degrees here.
  5. I put the lid on after my repour then stick a fan on them. Snowflakes come out right away.
  6. Help..i have a candle stuck in a 4" mold thats 2' deep out of pvc...any suggestions?
  7. certain FO will not mottle as nice as the next one, I also try to cool my candle down asap, yet keep the warm air trapped inside by placing the lid or something over top of the candle.
  8. It is all based on UPS zoning. I can ship a package to 5 states away and its cheaper then to send to someone within an hours drive of me. You can always go to the UPS site and get an estimate, that way you know if you are being overcharged on shipping or not.
  9. I mean from scratch, not melting them down. Any advice?
  10. I did a show years ago and it was in a large tent. They turned off the heat at night then cranked it up in the morning...cracked all my soy candles! Needless to say...i didnt sell any of them:angry2:
  11. I bought a bunch of molds off of the classies and they reek of smoke. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of the smell?
  12. Its hard to just roll it off thats for sure. I was at a show earlier this year and a guy started taking pics while i was setting up. I told him no taking pics...he went on to say i stole his idea and he has it patented. Um, since when can you patent a candle and btw 5 other companies are doing the same thing exhibiting at this show. Show managment asked me to remove it cause he claimed he had a patent...i said hell no!!! Show me the patent! As much as it bothered me the entire show...it was my best show ever! Funny how I never heard from him again...I will see him again in February at the next show...I feel its just jealousy now. I try to be friendly with all my competitors but most dont want to be, what a shame.
  13. Cant get on to the website and i call 2 numbers , get hung up on then call back and says they are closed for the holiday...um...what holiday??
  14. i like the look...looks like marble. Very classy.
  15. for a true cost you should include labor, packaging, marketing/advertising, electric, insurance in your cost of good sold. You cant alwasys go by 2x or 3x or 4x. Consider market and competition factors as well. I have items that cost me $1.00 to make but I wholesale for $4 and retail for $8.
  16. Fall is about over with for me, will just be some made here and there for about another month yet. Christmas has been going on for about 2 months now pretty steady. Everyone has been wanting their christmas stuff early for some reason.
  17. thats way to organized for me...where are the empty bottles laying around? where is the spilled wax on the floor? Where is the packing peanuts that keep sticking to everything:laugh2:
  18. I had a booth there a couple times. Looking into a showroom now. I was there in January, didnt see anything that totally knocked my socks off. Bought a bunch of floral, thats about it. I been there enough that I can go through it pretty fast, yet I still always miss something.
  19. you work is always stunning bruce...im so jealous... best of luck on the ex thing, I went through that 3 years ago, it takes time, but it will get better, btw i could use another expert candle maker over here *getdown*
  20. I kind of figured that when I peeked at your website. Although your items could sell, its really hard to get established into this particular trade show. All in all, this trade show in Madison in general kind of sucks. I would say it was one of my worst shows I ever did. There are many others out there you can try that are not primitive , Chicago-Beckman's for example. However the booths are a lot more expensive. You need to really have a unique and niche product to be doing these type shows. Your products honestly need to be out of the box. Dont take offense, its just how it is in the larger end of the wholesale business. Don't give up.
  21. I have done this show and all the other C&C shows around the country. Madison is one of the smaller ones. Not to burst your bubble, but prepared to loose money and hope to cover your expenses. It is very hard to get people to buy your products, especially candles, if you do not have your name established in the industry. Unless you have a unique product it is extremely hard to get established. In a C&C you have 5 seconds to grab their attention and if you are across from a busy booth that has a clientele built, forget it, you will be missed. Good luck and would like to hear how things have gone.
  22. i havent tried it in soy but C&S tomato is a dead on for a tomato vine and is on the $5 clearance
