  1. My favorite method is to put the cp soap in a turkey baking bag, and stick it in a crockpot of hot water. I usually ignore it for an hour or two and then put it in a mold. There's a thread on rebatching http://candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33295&highlight=rebatch+directions
  2. Some fragrance oils just don't last as long as others. For example, vanilla pear lasts a long time for me, but wild cherry only lasts a few hours. Also, how long do you let your soy wax cure? If you melt your tart right away, it won't have the same throw as if you waited a week.
  3. I'm going to make some tarts for a swap this weekend, maybe a little organization, and rebatch some soap.
  4. I think your soap is pretty. My soap hardened up too quickly (soaped when the lye water and oil was too warm), so I can't comment on a soft bar. :embarasse
  5. Nice bath bombs. Hard to believe Valentine's Day is around the corner.
  6. Lotions can use a squeeze bottle, but butters are thicker. Usually butters are in jars and are applied with a lighter touch.
  7. If you are in a humid area, wrapping the soap is more important than if you live in a desert. My soap does sweat unmolded because of the dry area I'm in.
  8. Would adding ice be okay if I have hard water? Adding ice sounds better than trying to fit it in the freezer or trying to open the door to take the lye water outside.
  9. I am definitely on the learning curve for making soap. Next time I'll try the freeze method for the lye so I can have more predictable results. Right now my soap looks like putty crammed into a mold. I'll rebatch the soap later on. I like the scent too much to throw it out.
  10. Must be the temperature. Once the lye was dissolved in the water, I poured it into the just-melted oil.:embarasse

  12. I saw directions for a hanger method, but haven't tried it myself http://candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27580&highlight=hanger There were some other directions http://candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118&highlight=swirl+directions
  13. I did a batch of cp soap. Stirred the soap until it reminded me of pudding, but the soap had oil floating on the top when it was all in the mold. Well, figuring that it was a false trace, the soap when back into the bowl to be stirred for a while. I left the soap for a moment (saw something on the floor and put it in the trash). When I went back to stir, the soap was so thick the spoon refused to budge. The soap is too stiff to roll into balls now. I chiseled it out into a mold. Should I have left the soap alone the first time it was in the mold?
  14. Just one? I'm on a vanilla kick: Pink Sugar (Peak), or Vanilla Pear (NG). I got a Lucious Lemon from my SB that smells wonderful too, just like a lemon cream cake.
  15. Pretty swirls. I'm looking forward to seeing it cut.
  16. I'd avoid fresh or frozen strawberries just because of mold.
  17. So far the color of my rebatched soap has remained steady. Before coloring, the soap was tan. The soap has emerald green mica from Shutterbug's coop. I was aiming for swirls. However, the main part is a light gray/tan with light veins of shimmer emerald. I should have gone for one solid green instead.
  18. My homely rebatch is a nice-smelling blend of Sola's Samsara and NG Vanilla-Pear. It also has a nice lather to it. I'm thinking of using it for the ugly soap swap.
  19. Nice looking gift sets. Bet your sisters will enjoy them.
  20. I enjoy this board too. When I'm stumped, people here can come up with helpful ideas.
  21. I started off with mp soap. It's fun and quick. I love being able to use my soap as soon as it cools. My play area has more molds than I ever imagined when first starting off. However, soon the pictures from the gallery tempted me to try cp soap. As long as you're careful and have everything out beforehand, CP's lots of fun too.
  22. I saw some 4 oz malibu containers at my local WalMart for $.50 each in the travel sample area, near the shampoos and toothpaste.
