Awesome soapie!

Thank you all for your input. They definitely help.
I've got to get my thoughts together on this. I haven't yet started working on the labels and already I'm getting a headache
-
maybe some lip balm or lip gloss?
-
Thank you April.
Do you tell them about the stinging that may happen if they have a cut or nick? Or am I the only one that happened to?
Do you all put a note or caution about this on the label?

I've just finished curing my 1st salt bars. I'm ready to give some to friends to try but I have no idea what to tell them. Are there benefits to this type of soap? Any input would be appreciated.

"I"
would really like that.
-
I'm definitely in for a tutorial. Would that be possible?
I also got her instructions but haven't figured it out yet. A visual walk through would be helpful.

Those are gorgeous. Way to go Bonnie!

I've been experimenting and since it's for my own use, well, no harm done. I've successly used liquid hand soap, as well as cheapo dollar store hand soap. Also shower gel and even tried a shampoo cause I really love the scent of it. It just needs to be diluted properly.

For lots of lather I add vegetable glycerin about 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per lb of M&P base.
would this extra glycerin make the base sweat more?
-
oops! Sorry Z! I just found the answer in the other thread.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. Would really love to try this one. Some of the others I've read seem way too complicated. Can I cut this recipe in half?
-
I'm fairly new at soapmaking but from all I've read & studied, you'll need at least one of the 3 cleansing oils in any soap recipe (except for castile). They're coconut, palm kernal or babassu.
-
OMG those are lovely. You're so talented.

I do as Schmoopie does. I get the plain opaque & add shea or cocoa butter. That way I don't have to buy all the different bases.
p.s. some suppliers have samplers packs with different bases. That way you can decide for yourself which base you prefer.

You'll love those micas. But you'll not get the colors or sparkly if you try them on opaque mp. They're lovely in clear though. Also, I've experimented mixing the micas right into melted mp without clumping or speckling.
-
I prefer slabs for cp and logs for mp.

Let me try to help.
The pop mica colors & neon oxides are from this website.

I found that mixing glycerin with the micas & oil with the neons work best for me.
If you're interested in premixed liquid non-bleeding colors, see here:

hope that helps

Only time I've ever gotten deep red like that was with DragonLily colors, now sold by Soap Silly. Extreme Red.
But will it come out that red using opaque mp base? or only the clear will work?
-
That's perfect. I always add a bit of shaving into all my mp bars for extra bubbles.
-
FYI MochaMama, the micas will not work in the opaque base either. Use the clear & you'll get wonderful results.
You can chunk them up & add to an opaque loaf. When you slice the bars, you'll get some really nice bits & pieces running through your bars.
-
You're not gonna get vibrant colors with the opaque base because of the whitener used to make it white. Most colors will turn out a pastel shade. But you can get some really nice, bright colors in clear mp base.
