  1. Lucy - What percentage do you use for your tarts - I'm assuming you are using a paraffin wax also? Thank you! Casey
  2. Hi! I've been using a pre-blended paraffin wax for tart melts - but was wondering what soy wax is commonly used for tarts? I was thinking of trying a wax from Millcreek - but would love opinions on any great throwing soy wax for melts.... Thanks so much in advance for your help and replies! Casey
  3. I use a pre-blended paraffin and would appreciate your recommendations - thanking you in advance for your replies - hope all has a safe and happy holiday weekend!!!
  4. Hi Lady Dragon - I was headed to another company to try the Sweet Cinn Pumpkin then saw your post - would you consider it a bath & body smell or a foodie smell from Save on Scents? Do you have any other suggestions for ordering from Save on Scents - I use a pre-blended paraffin and am having a tough time getting any pumpkin fos to throw in my wax - thank you!!!!
  5. I'm thinking I might - I can't seem to get any responses on the board for other oils to order from her - cause I hate just testing one:D but I have smelled this scent before from tarts I bought and it was awesome, I just couldn't get this scent to throw from GL....I'm on a mission:tiptoe:
  6. Candlebuddy have you ever tried the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin from Creative Candle Supply?
  7. Thanks, Sharon, I'll definitely keep that in mind to try - can't wait to get my oils from 'Bert'
  8. Hi! I also just ordered from 'Bert' what a Sweetie to deal with - I'm curious as to what type wax you are using - I'm having a terrible time with pumpkin fos and my wax - I can't get a good throw from the Pumpkin Crunch Cake although I loved it when I poured it - and I'm also on a hunt for Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin myself, tried GL's version and hardly had a throw at all in my pre-blended paraffin wax, going to try it in a soy blend next to see if that will help - sure wish I could get the Pumpkin Crunch to throw - I'm very anxious to hear your results with Bert's fos, wish I would have ordered the Vanilla Latte.....Blessings, Casey
  9. Hi Donna - I've been looking for someone that uses paraffin to maybe offer suggestions for fall scents, not only from Backwoods, but some other suppliers if you have some other favs- I'm having a terrible time trying to get pumpkin fos to throw for me - if you could share some fall/Christmas scents that you have liked with nice big throws in your wax I would appreciate it very much - I'm mainly concentrating on making tarts with a pre-blended votive wax at the moment. *PM me if you want to* Thank you! Kind Regards, Casey
  10. I'd appreciate any suggestions for fos from Creative Candle - looking at fall & Christmas scents right now - also curious as to opinions on the fragrances for wax from this supplier - Thanks so much in advance for your help!!!
  11. Scented - I thought maybe using a pre-blended wax that maybe the uv was already in there and I was 'trapping' the scent somehow - I had read before about too much vybar can do that, so I thought maybe the uv was effecting my scent cause I've never had this many fos not respond in my wax (I've been pouring melts), I've tried: NG - Pumpkin Crunch Cake - been curing over two weeks and I seem to be the only that can't get it to throw NG-Harvest (loved this when I poured it) - very lite throw, SS - Buttery Pumpkin pie also very lite, AH/RE Pumpkin Bread - lite throw, AH/RE Pumpkin Cheesecake - another lite throw CS Pumpkin Souffle had a nice throw, but I can't make up my mind if I like it although a tester did very much. I'm waiting to test SS Grandma's Pumpkin Log and NG's Candy Corn. I've had luck with about 75% of all the fos I've tried have thrown in my wax, and this many in a row being so lite in the throw got me concerned about the uv inhibitor. I have another oz. of buttery pumpkin pie that I'm going to try without the uv and see what I think - although I know that it doesn't make sense that it would effect the scent. Thanks so much for your help! I'm w
  12. Thanks, Scented for your reply! I guess I'm just having trouble finding great throwing fall scents for my wax!!! :undecided
  13. Hi! Recently, when making candle melts/tarts, I started adding a 'pinch' of uv inhibitor to my pre-blended votive wax - well, it seems that alot of my new scents are either not working in my wax - I've been testing alot of pumpkin fos lately - or could the uv inhibitor be effecting my fragrance throw? I started adding the 'uv' because my melts were slightly fading from fluorescent lights. Has anyone had trouble getting pumpkin scents to throw? Thank you in advance for your replies! - I appreciate all the advice I can get!!!
  14. Hi! I recently tried a few fos from Cajun (Oatmeal Raisin - awesome, coco mango - another winner, buttercream crunch - super yummy - curing Apples & Berries & haven't poured Cherry Blossoms yet - so....I want to try some more of their fragrances and... I'd love to hear some favorites from you!!! Thanks so very much!!!

  19. TGIF Everyone:yay: I was hoping to get some suggestions/opinions for favorite designer scents for paraffin wax.... I already have and love Pink Sugar (I've tried Peaks, ICS & NGs), White Tea & Ginger (love Peaks, but am waiting for ICS's to cure), Sweet Pea (can't remember which supplier), Citrus and Sage (from NG), Cool Citrus & Basil (Peaks)...waiting for White Willow & Tea (ICS) to cure....for some reason Love Spell (Peaks) would not throw in my wax....and the Mandarin Plum, Green Clover & Aloe (Peaks & NGs) also seem weak...anyway, can you, please, give me any other suggestions for designer scents and suppliers? and if I missed a good supplier for any of the above scents, I'm always open for other opinions on those also... and I'm dyin' to find a good Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin....would love to hear opinions for that also.... I hope you all have a blessed weekend and thank you in advance for your replies....
  20. Thanks so much for all your suggestions! I'm didn't realize about adding the two different additives to make the different textures - I have some walnut dye powder/stain(?) - not sure if that might do the trick also - I thought about the scratching - thanks for the tip on the grill brush, that should work great - and had also wondered about using candle medium paint and then rubbing to get into the groove marks - your candle shade is very nice!!! - that looks like an autumn orange dye chip color? I'm so anxious to get to it!!! Thanks again so very much!!!
  21. Hi! I just noticed a class being offered at candles and supplies on techniques to make stained candles? http://shop.candlesandsupplies.com/candles/product.asp?catalog_name=Candles&category_name=***+CLASSES/WORKSHOPS+***&product_id=CLASS-PRIM&path=***+CLASSES/WORKSHOPS+*** any idea on how the stained candle is made? I love the color also, any ideas on how to get that color? and I saw a pillar candle this weekend that I thought was absolutely beautiful - it looked like a regular smooth paraffin on the bottom with a rustic/mottled top? is that possible to combine both waxes to safely make a pillar? As always - thank you for your replies - very much appreciated by this little drip of wax!!!
  22. Hi! I would like to try palm wax - and noticed Candlewic sales right now on palm- I would like to make a 3 x 4 pillar - there are two waxes to choose from - crystallizing and feathering - does anyone have a preference on that type wax? and could you help me with what type of wick to use for the pillar and palm wax? Thanks so much for your help!!!
  23. Hi Jami!!! Oh, I'm excited for you - hope to see pics of yours!!! My problem is - I want to do it all NOW!!! Good Luck on your pillars!!!
