  1. :bump: In case you missed this - requesting a bump to get more opinions. You can also reply as to how you would describe your candles...just post the combo's you use, please!!
  2. Thanks for the info - so tired of pastel candles. They're great for soy in spring/summer but .... so boring! Really prefer mixing my own colors - I can consistently make the same shade for all my wax - paraffin, soy and "tarts" as long as the quantity of wax is consistent. And I use CS products. :smiley2: Can't wait to break out the Cinnamon and Orange for my fall palms!
  3. You have no idea how much this forum has helped me! I've loved every review and posting !!! But I'm getting confused now - and I'm wondering if I'm the only one. Wonderful reviews but - - - What are you using it in? I am strictly a candlemaker and am lucky enough that if FO's don't translate or "throw" in soy - it usually will in paraffin. I've also given FO's to my B&B friend because the aromas just aren't throwing in either base candle. PLEASE, don't get me wrong, the list of fragrances and the supplier is much appreciated. I've noticed some have posted that it's too strong for their B&B application. These are the ones I've been ordering for my candles. But If you would care to share could you please include what you are using it in? Many of you do - And a HUGH Thank You for that!!!:smiley2: But there are those that don't. So now's your opportunity to comment on this comment - Agree or Disagree?
  4. Thanks for taking the time to clear that up for me...especially at this hour of the night. It's really amazing (to me) that now I see a candle and say "A ha! I know that name from the CandleTech Forum!!" Thanks again!!
  5. Eve, thanks for the report. :highfive: I've always had good luck with their oils - they say they personally test them all - and it must be true! By the way, what wax are you using?
  6. Viewed the NG list yesterday and noticed a Pumpkin Pie Spice. Have you tried that one?
  7. 8 oz available from www.candlescience.com located in North Carolina - not Kerr or Ball but are from a different manufacturer and are not embossed. Variety of lids available, too! Call and talk to them while you're on their site! Notice you didn't put a location in your profile. It is helpful information - members could possibly steer you to someone in your area. Luck to ya!
  8. OK I'm having a problem with some of the posts. In my mind: SOY is 100% soy SOY BLEND is 100% soy blended with additives (like GB444, CB135, etc.) I understand PARAFFIN I understand PARASOY (paraffin and soy blended together) Does it seem to any of you that the term BLEND is also being used to describe parasoy? Does it seem SOY is being used to describe BOTH the 100% and the soy blend? As a relative newbie it gets me really confused when I'm reading SOY BLEND and then I realize they actually are posting about PARASOY. Am I the one who is confusseled?
  9. Thanks to you both for the links! This is what I love about the forum. As a newbie I've tried to go to the archives and read - but I'd be reading til 2008! Thanks to you "Old Hands" I can get nudged in the right direction!
  10. Went to a local pottery and saw Greenleaf container candles and votives. Is this the same company as the supplier? I forgot to look on the label to see in what city/state it was made. :embarasse
  11. This is getting spooooky ! ! ! Went to the local Pottery this evening and saw - ta da - Palm Pillars! Only $19.99 for a 3X6 ! They were so flat/not glossy it almost looked like the pattern was painted on. Not NEARLY as gorgeous as this pic, though. :highfive: Gotta love those glass containers. Willing to try this just to get away from the soy frosting issues. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Went into the General Candlemaking forum and bumped a post from Number2of7 titled "Did I calculate this correctly?" That one stuck in my mind too. Pretty sure it's the one you were looking for. TopOfMurrayHill - She is one smart and easy to understand cookie ! ! Hope it helps.
  13. :bump: Bump - so member can locate this quickly. Asked the question on another forum.
  14. It always amazes me when someone will say they "make" their own oils. I've been to a Manufacturer's plant - and they sell by the drum or keg. So I believe those claiming to "make" their own are just probably blending oils they've purchased. And you don't know how old the original oils are. One of the other problems with oils from ebay - they don't always know how their oils will work for your application. In paraffin it may be OK - but not good for soy. Some established sellers can be distinguished by the number of stars and feedback...if in doubt, ask questions. If it doesn't sound sensible - walk away.
  15. Mill Creek has a Vanilla Hazelnut Mocha - not a true singular coffee aroma - more of an upscale "designer cafe" scent (heavy on the Mocha).
  16. I fortunately have a tester who will fire up absolutely anything I pour. So far just doing jelly jars for testers with 5oz wax and .5oz FO. I just use a Sharpie permanent marker on the bottom with the FO and wick size. When she returns them I can see how clean the sides are and the depth of the pool. And, since I know the start level in the jar, I can tell how much or little she liked it by the amount remaining in the jar!
  17. I, too, got my package a few minutes ago. The depth of the Baked Cherry Delight is incredible...wonderful when you can smell every separate component! Also got the Spice Market. OOB there is something so familiar - just can't quite put my finger on it. OH - memories from the past ... but what was it??? Will certainly be taking advantage of the extended free shipping - she's got another customer now.
  18. Just went to the site also. Looks like 3 formaulations for pillars and 1 for containers. Wedo, if I remember correctly, manufactures the RRD and LX wicks. Suprised cost of wax is comperable to the Eco I've been using. May just get 10 lbs for testing. Getting so frustrated with frosting, ugly tops, heat guns, and testing wicks with each new FO I get! Would be interested in feedback from successful users - expcially about fragrance throw.
  19. Found the same with charts from other companys. One recommended LX-12 for 2-3" container. Bought the 14's, 16's and 18's. Found a candlemaker using the same CB-135 as I do and she uses the 20's which , naturally, I don't have. As an afterthought (old & slow me) went to the wax manufacturer's site and got pretty accurate info on the wicks they recommend - and the LX's weren't even on there! Now on the hunt again.
  20. Tell your brother Sempe Fi - from a retired Gunny. Funny the message has to go to Wisconsin and all the way back here again. I'm still in the TEST, TEST, TEST Stage with soy. That's why 100 is a more reasonable quantity for me. Went to Candlewic custom build and what they charge for 500 is the same $ quoted for 1,000 from the wick maker! ! ! Thanks for the fire starter idea. Might make a few for the fall. Not much call for them here - too warm. Winter lasts about 6 weeks and haven't had snow for 3 years!!
  21. Found a custom wick maker for my jelly jar wicks - but not really ready to order 1,000. Anyone know a supplier for this size in ECO, RRD or HTP in a 100 pack? All I've been able to find are the 6" - what a waste snipping ! Can't think of use for the little bits. TYIA
  22. I've gotten both the 4oz and 6oz from acandleco. Had a problem with some of the 6oz tops - the wooden holder not separating from the inner metal cap. He quickly resolved the problem! excellent customer service at a great price.
  23. COZY HOME - great for throw - renamed mine Stewed Apples. Smells just like Cracker Barrel's ! ! ! If you have the chance - try the Vanilla Hazelnut Mocha if you're a "designer coffee" drinker. It's loaded with Mocha.
