  1. i have those molds and love how they turn out but i haven't made layered candles yet. I'm still trying to catch up with orders. Maybe i'll have time this coming week to do a few. Those are very pretty. I love the color combo you used. Real nice
  2. Isn't that stunning? I know what candle mold i'm ordering next. NOt that i'll be able to make anything that pretty but i love it!! Green with envy here over that one.
  3. wow that is beautiful! even your photography with the lit one is awesome!!
  4. I used liquid. As i said before the wax was still runny when i poured it into the mold AND i heated up the entire candle with the heat gun releasing any and all air bubbles. Tap around the mold too as you go.
  5. Thank you. Yes they sell real well. My marbled candles sell great and then the best sellers are soy container candles.
  6. oh wow thats awesome! i had no idea i thought they were painted on. Maybe i need to dust off my monitor lol Very pretty though no doubt about that.
  7. i painted a bunch of these for my store just before mothers day and sold quite a few. They're pretty big sellers. People just love the flowers. I find everyone has a favorite flower or a color skem they are going with. I had requests for pansies, violets and roses in all sorts of colors. Your's look lovely. Yes even the weeds lol. I'm partial to pansies myself. Keep painting they look great!!
  8. I pretty much melt them all the way through while they are in the mold. Yes the polycarb molds break down over time. I had one crack but sealed it up with silicone and am still able to use it. No tunneling at all. I've tested these and have friends who also test for me. Of course you do get the sink hole like all pillars but you just fill it as usual. They burn the same as any other pillar. Its not whipped as in fluffy whipping just wisked with a fork to make it a bit lumpy like runny oatmeal. Its not whipped looking like whipped cream or anything like that. It will pour into your mold when wisked or whipped iwth a fork. Your not putting it into the mold stiff. Its still very liquidy. THe point is to not allow the colorant to run all through out the wax and to stay in a few areas so that when you heat it with the heat gun the bubbles running up the sides will make the streaks.
  9. i got the idea from one of my suppliers. They wanted me to buy frosted candles for my store but after seeing the photos i realized i can make them myself for less than their wholesaler price to me. So on that!! I'm making these myself lol.
  10. the maker of these glass no hole beads and glass glitter told me that glass has a MP of 200 degrees F. There is no way a candle will get hot enough to harm the glass. I ordered several pounds in all sorts of colors so i can get an early start on the holidays this year.
  11. I coated the area i wanted to cover in a thin layer of tacky wax. Just rubbed it on with my finger tip. After that i put the pillar in a plastic tub and put about a teaspoon of tiny deco beads on it and just kept pressing them on. Pick a few up and sprinkle them on and press. Then i added a tiny bit of the glass glitter and pressed that all around a little here and there. When it was done i sprayed it with clear candle glaze and let it dry. They don't fall off once you've sprayed it. I tested it out already on votives and small pillars.
  12. I used paraffin wax. Poured it into a plastic tub first and let it cool till i saw that film starting to form on the top and sides then used a fork to wisk it and while it was still slushy i added 2 to 3 drops around the container. Didn't blend it at all and then poured it into the mold. After it sits for a few minutes and sets a bit i go over the sides with the heat gun on low setting and melt it just enough to release the air bubbles. I do this with metal molds too only with those you can put the heat gun much closer. THe difference is you can't see your finaly candle with the metal molds till you remove them from the mold. So its a total surprise every time i make these. I have several of these in every scent i stock and they fly out of here. People just love them. My best sellers are the cafe late which is a mocha color marble, candied blueberries is pretty blue and white, coconut lime verbena is lime green and white, black raspberry vanilla is a dark violet and white. The slowest sellers are the pink candles for pink grapefruit and tropical punch. I really haven't been making candles very long. I started out with just soy container candles several years ago and about a year ago i tried out paraffin wax.
  13. I had a boring lime green 4x3 pillar in my shop scented in coconut lime verbena and i wanted to jazz it up a bit so i put on some of my deco beads and glass glitter. The deco beads are in lime green and the glass glitter is your basic green. I'm planning on making a lot of these for the holidays in holiday colors. This looks much better in person.
  14. can you use a higher MP wax in a thin layer to keep that from bleeding? I know in soaps when i do MP soaps i put a thin layer of clear between the colored layers to keep it from bleeding although over time it will bleed some what. Just a though. I"ve never made layered candles before. Marbled is as far as i got.
  15. oh i know. What do you think of a creamsicle in orange and white? maybe if i layerd it? or did a varity of oranges in different depths? I don't know if that even sounds right lol. ugh so many projects so little time.
  16. yes that is a polycarb mold from candlesandsupplies.com I wisked the wax as it cooled and used 2 to 3 drops of color. While it was in the mold i went over the sides with my heat gun on low to release any air bubbles and as the wax melted and the bubbles rose it makes that great pattern / streaks up the sides. They are big sellers in my store. Here is another with my coffee embeded pillar.
  17. I have a 50lb case of that wax sitting in my lab. Your pillars have inspired me to dig it out. Still don't know what scent i want to use or what color combination. :rolleyes2 Those look awesome by the way.
  18. Once i learned how to make these i went to town and made several in different colors and scents. My favorite though are the coffee candles I made.
  19. I don't know if this is a question directed towards me or not but i use acrylic paints. First i spray my candle with the candle glaze and let it set up really well then paint. Some others use krylon crstal clear glaze or matt finish. WHen my design is set i spray again because i have seen it peel up without the 2nd coat on there. Today i'm painting a few vases. I don't have the glass paints so i coated my vases with the glass & tile medium first. Let it sit over night and it looks like frosted glass. After i paint on my design and its set over night i then paint another coat of the glass and tile medium. Of course there are not dishwasher safe unlike the glass paints which are. I just tell my customers to hand wash only. but the frosted glass look sells really well in my store. Veronica
  20. yes I used water slide. I've since embelished it a bit using ultra fine glitter glass for the scroll. now if i had new batteries for my digital i would show you an updated new and improved version lol
  21. That looks like a real muffin. I'm sure it smells as good as it looks.
  22. i had asked about painting on candles and someone said to try candle medium but i've discovered just by playing around that if you spray your candle first with candle glaze that you can paint on top of that without any drag of the paint. Then spray again with the glaze to seel it off. I just painted a hurricane shell to try it out and it worked fine. Now i have to get batteries for my digital to take some photos and show you. I have one large rose on one side, some wisteria, daisies and a humming bird on there with greens of course all over. I've done better work but i'm happy with it. But anyone interested in painting on candles you don't need candle/soap medium. Just spray the item first with clear glaze. I've painted soaps for years and did this so thought it couldn't hurt to do it on a candle and it worked.
  23. now if i can only figure out how to post an attachment so its not this emormous photo on here. I even tried shrinking it but it wouldn't let me drag the corners to make it smaller. hmm
  24. oops lol guess thats all there is fokes
