  1. I meatballer is what I use (and I'm new to bombs so take this for what it's worth!) and my bombs are a little over 2 oz. One thing I like about the meatballer is it has holes so I can stuff more in it after I close it and get it really tight. Bethany
  2. Sometimes the mess ups just work out anyway. It looks great! Seizing doesn't always have to be a crisis and the end of an FO. Maybe next time soap cooler and take your lye to water ratio down to give you more play time - you'd be surprised how it helps. I always give FO's a second chance if they seize as long as they smell good. Bethany
  3. My tool is like the MMS one - but very sturdy steel. It's called a bung wrench BTW if you are asking for it at a hardware store. I got mine at emergency essentails. LOVE IT! Bethany
  4. Rustic escentuals Sweet pea - doesn't smell so great in CP, but wonderful in lotions and other b&b! RE's Pink hydrangea too...and it accelerates like crazy! Bethany
  5. I use the .5 oz twist tubes for my hand and body balm (lotion bar). haven't hit hot weather yet so I can't say how it works for that. Bethany
  6. For liquids I always do volume measurements. so a four oounce body spray is "4 fl. oz." I haven't done ml sprayers yet, but if I did I would just put "8 ml." Bethany
  7. What about mailing tubes??? They can be kind of expensive, but put the bombs in the tubes then the tubes in a box? congrats on such a large order - I would've hated to make those though- I'm bath bomb impaired right now - going to go make some today again, hopefully better this time! Bethany
  8. I shouldn't have spoken so soon, LOL! Today I soaped a big batch at a higher percentage of lye 100% goats milk and the smell was there a little - HUH! Bethany
  9. They don't sell the one pound boxes for about 57 cents each? It seems weird, but the smallest package is the best buy - I've found that out with a lot of stuff there. Bethany
  10. I read one book and have never used a single thing from it. "Everything I need to know about soaping I learned on a forum" LOL! Talking to real people who've experienced the recipe and hearing what others had to say about it really helps! Bethany
  11. I hate the big box - what a mess! nothing like being up to your elboz in a greasy bag inside a box when you get to the end! The very cheapest Lard I have found is at super Walmart and believe it or not it is cheaper to buy it in the 1 lb boxes than the larger sizes - if memory serves it is 57 cents a pound. Bethany
  12. You know, I have read this, but have never experienced the ammonia smell with goats milk. I make nearly all my soaps fresh GM totally frozen. The only time I've gotten the ammonia smell is when I am dissolving lye in ammonia. I have a pretty good sniffer too and used to wait for the bad smell - but no probs so far! Bethany
  13. Since using the oil cleansing method and moisturizing with a straight jojoba, ako, hemp blend I hardly ever break out. But I reallly need sunscreen. I tried using my regular stuff and broke out. Can the everyday lotion maker have access to sunscreen products to make my own for my face? Bethany
  14. Have you tried the oil cleansing method? I use it and love it! I also dab straight Peppermint EO on the end of a q-tip on pimples and they clear right up - but I don't get those too often since ocming. Bethany
  15. I make tons of soap with lard all the time (not the refrigerated kind) and have never had a bad smell. I agree with Carrie - rendering stinks which is why I have never done it even though I raise my own pork. Bethany
  16. I made a nut oil free lip balm and posted on the label in bold black letters "while this product contains no nut oils it was produced in a facility which produces products with nut oils. Those with allergies use caution" to hopefully save my hiney. Even if I don't promote it as nut oil free someone with nut allergies may use it anyway and who knows what could happen? Bethany
  17. Are you just whipping straight shea with no other oils? Adding one ounce of cyclo to how much oils? Do you all sell this in summer months? I am thinking of making it, but am hesitant to do it in the hot weather (I have a booth at the farmer's market) because it may melt all over the place! TIA Bethany
  18. I was making my body/linen spray with the witch hazel recipe and just switched to cyclo and I LOVE it! I use it on everything - And yes it is wonderful on hair! My daughter has long VERY thick hair that can just be unbearable - I have often asked her to cut the darn mane! - and I have been using it on her and it is AWESOME! Can't rave enough about this stuff! So worth the cost and I think I use less because the scent lasts longer. Bethany
  19. Thanks! I did that and found loads of information! Bethany
  20. Can someone explain the differences? Thanks, Bethany
  21. Ok, Thanks. I was going by the guidelines of a recipe someone made here. will throw them out and start over. Thanks for the link to the sage calculator. I had used it before but didn't think about using it for lip balms! Bethany
  22. Whoa! That's uber high superfat! olive could be it, but personally I hate shea in soaps - thinner slimey lathers! I have soaped it at 5% and things have been ok with plenty of castor and coconut. Still I save my shea for lotions and keep it out of the soap! Bethany
  23. I read "presweetened for lip balms" or some such on the site and I don't think so! So I added some of the sweetener I got and it was good for banana and raspberry. I still think I am using too much rasberry flavor however. I tried the same amounts with toasted coconut and BLECH! so bitter! So if someone could give me how much flavor in ml. they use per say 20 tubes that would be great. (I don't translate the whole 1-3% thing when it comes to lip balm for some reason!) I was doing 6 ml flavor for 20 tubes with 2 ml of thier sweetener. TIA, Bethany
  24. Teri, I think your recipe looks cool, however I don't want to use SLS. Got any subs for me? Bethany
  25. What size shrink wrap do you use? I've seen them wrapped in tissue like candy - they you could add a hang tag I guess. but I think I would still like to shrink wrap them too. Bethany
