  1. IKS, THANK YOU for posting those links! I'm interested in seeing these angry mobs of women...lol Roma, that was a wierd post...I don't really understand it.
  2. hehe..this is a wierd thread...it reminds me of that one with the wierd yellow blob candle with no wick that is the "hottest seller" right now...lol
  3. Hmm...I'm confused...Besides the IKS thread where Maddie was involved, I've not seen a thread where a customer was discussing a retailer (with the exception of supplier concerns).
  4. I've not noticed a soapy-smell to their oils. I don't think their oils are focused toward b&b at all since they have info. on testing in soy wax... What does the BNL Cupid smell like? I'm curious about it, but the description isn't very appealing.
  5. I think you might have misread Kaybee's post/intention. You definitely have the right to post your question--I don't think your question was out of line in any way and I doubt anyone else does either. I'm glad you posted it, in fact, because I've had the exact same experience with their oils. I think this is a case of translation confusion!
  6. Olive Blossom is great huh!? I looooove it in B&B. And, the Leather is fantastic in Ornies. You should try the WYW Cucumber Ivy Mint if you haven't yet! Basil Sage Mint sounds really nice. Let me know how you like it & I might have to add it to my list. ETA: I'm curious about their Aqua di Gio dupe as well...if you get it please post about it! I used to LOVE the perfume and am curious if it's an accurate dupe.
  7. I was wondering when I'd read this on here...I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand their oils. I live near Dallas so when I went to pick up my jars from Taylored for the first time I was really excited to smell their FOs--thinking I could save a ton of money on shipping. I was really disappointed. All but 2 oils I picked up smelled exactly the same...something chemically and just nasty. I did get their Buttercream Supreme and the Christmas Splendor and while they are nice FOs I don't know that I'll reorder b/c IMO they're nothing special. An additional shock for me was that I went to their dupe section and not a single dupe was even close. A real disappointment. You're right though..Robert is really nice. His staff could be better IMO--a bit rude. I hate going there.
  8. You got it. Hang-up would be that bit of wax that is stubbornly refusing to melt! That is a complicated jar IMO. "They" (must be the candle gods) say that a full melt pool should be achieved after 1 hour for every inch of the container's diameter and the melt pool shouldn't be deeper than 1/2 inch. As I said before, the melt pool on that one candle seems a little deep to me and the bit of hang-up you have in the middle candle wouldn't cause me any concern b/c 1) I think it will catch up on subsequent burns and 2) you mentioned you may have an off-centered wick. How deep is your melt pool in the middle pick? And, what are the container's measurements? Btw, you hit the nail on the head with the color & scent combination! Sorry-can't help you on the burn time!
  9. Well I've never encountered anything that looks like that. Hope someone comes along who has!
  10. Yep, I agree with Di. All these posts that mention these consumer message boards confuse me b/c if I can't locate these message boards when actively searching then how many consumers are actually active members besides this bizarre pack of women?
  11. That's interesting. Any way the wick could've been moved while the wax was cooling?
  12. Hmm..I have the BCN lotion base and was thinking of sampling others, but based on responses to your question I'm not so sure now. I do like the BCN lotion base-it is not greasy and absorbs right in-but it's nothing special IMO. I've got an Archipelago Mineral Mud lotion that I would eat if I could...it's just an amazing lotion. I was hoping the BCN lotion might be something simliar but to me it's just another lotion. But it is nice.
  13. Jakalex makes a good point. What wax are you using? I use EzSoy and have great results with the Bittercreek and WSP oils.
  14. LMAO...I'm just picturing you (faceless person) sitting in a chair waiting FOREVER for the wax to cool...hehe...that is a fruitless process. You probably don't need to stir continuously until it cools but don't forget to stir really well to incorporate the FO and I always stir well before I star to pour. I pour much closer to 100 degrees---the slushy stage. Pouring at a lower temp seems to alleviate wet spots, frosting and bumpy tops for me. Of course, you're likely going to get wierdness going on once you've burned your soy candles, but strange looking tops doesn't stop them from smelling great!
  15. Hmmm...that is a very complex question. If I had to buy my FOs from one place I'd choose Bittercreek simply for the WYW and BNL lines, which have some great FOs for both candles and B&B. Also, I'd have to have access to the BCS Red Velvet Cake because I cannot live without it!!!
  16. You mentioned that your first candles were poured at 160 (I think). Are you still pouring @ 160? The burgandy color is very nice! I'd be interested to see a photo of these in a couple weeks (if you haven't burned them up! hehe) and see if the frosting/wet spots have stayed away. I think your having minimal frosting on the turquoise candle is excellent! Plus, it's 100% soy so don't get all crazy wanting an absolutely perfect looking candle. Some will disagree (saw a thread a couple days ago discussing whether having frosting was appropriate) but this is the nature of this wax and I, for one, do not mind when it rears its ugly head. Good job!
  17. That is adorable! Bet you could sell those!
  18. Hmm...I think air circulation is important, but not as important as heat. We're in TX so I know first hand the effects of heat on ornies...our ornies will last maybe 1 month in the heat of summer here. The scent is just basically pushed out of the ornie when it gets to be 105+ in a vehicle and they just don't last that long. Now that it's winter I can barely smell the various ornies that I stick in my car to try out the way they smell. But, air circulation is definitely an important factor because once I turn the heater on or open a window and the air starts to move around a bit I can smell whiffs of the ornies every now and then. Basically, I think ornies are a very wierd product. I loooooove them, but the one customer I had that had problems with them was a very confusing time for me. lol...I won't be surprised the next time a customer has a problem with them b/c I think the sense of smell is very subjective and so many people are in their cars constantly and just become used to the scent. Personally, I think the smoking is the culprit in your customer's situation. Let us know what happens!!!
  19. I love those jars! What scent are they? The color is very melony & fresh looking! I'd personally choose the middle one...the left burn pic is very clean and doesn't have the small amount of hang-up that appears to be in the middle pic, but IMO the pool may be a bit deep. I like the middle burn even with the slight hang-up (I hope it's not my eyes deceiving me and there is actually a bit of hang-up in the corner!)... Great job!!! ETA: Forgot the main purpose of your thread...lol...I cure with lids on to keep dust & whatnot from settling on the wax. I don't put the lids on until the candles have set up.
  20. I wish I could find these elusvie "candle lover" forums where all of these customers convene and discuss this stuff....This isn't the first thread I've read that mentions these other boards, but my searches have proved fruitless.
  21. I've had a couple of complaints (from the same person) that the ornies stopped smelling after a period of time-a short period of time. I replaced it, tested them like crazy and couldn't figure out what was going on. In fact, I still don't. I think that some people get "immune" to scents much faster and when they are around them constantly, in the same environment, they have a more difficult time smelling them. I also think that the smoking factor that you've mentioned could definitely be partially to blame...wonder if the smoke scent could be penetrating the ornie...The smell of a smoker's car overpowers every other scent possible. My husband smoked in my car a couple of times, hasn't in over 4 months, and I can only smell the lingering smoke scent in my car and not my Pink Sugar ornie...
  22. It's great that she stepped up and fixed the situation for you! Now if they'll just get on that darn shopping cart!!!
  23. I just noticed that you picked up the BCN Love Spell. If you're looking for a true dupe this is NOT it. I think BCN really needs to discontinue their Love Spell until they can get it right. I'm a hardcore VS Love Spell addict and BCN's doesn't come close. I like WSP's.
  24. My BCN favs: WYW Lemongrass & Star Anise (cannot live without this!) WYW Cucumber Ivy Mint Pink Sugar Grandma's Kitchen BNL Sage, Sweetgrass & Cedar BNL Eucalyptus Spearmint BNL Olive Blossom Spiced Cranberry Yucky on the Wildberry Zinger Tea...everyone raves over it but ew gross...I cannot STAND it! ETA: I use EZSoy and love all of these in it!
  25. I've tried the Homespun Sugar from BCS that everyone raves over but I don't like it. IMO there are MUCH better vanilla fragrances out there. It is, however, very sweet.
