  1. Gotta cast a vote for BCN. Their shipping is so fast, good selection, and awesome customer service:yay:
  2. I make both CP and MP. There are pros and cons to each. Neither is "better". My CP does last longer, but I have to wait for it to cure and the fragrance can morph or fade.
  3. I have been making gel candles for five years. I have never had one shatter. I use wick tabs that stop the flame when it gets to withing 1/4 in of the bottom of the conainer. I did have a commercial parrafin candle break and overheat becuase there was no wick tab.
  4. Nice to meet you:yay: I have just got back into gels after some time. I've been doing them for 5 years or so and I just found this board. I live in WI, so I can drive to BCN to pick up my gel. I am gogin to try to post a pic of a 3 wick seascape I just did.
  5. Where did you get the information? I'm in WI and I would love to go!
  6. I think it is too much FO as well. I used to store my candles outside in the garage in winter (in WI) and none ever leaked.
  7. Hi, everyone! I have been quit smoking for one month now, but the smoke smell is still in my house. I made a candle with BCN's smoke and odor eliminator, but the odors are still there. I need suggesstions for another product to make with my FO's to help with the smell. I burned the canle over 20 hours with the smoke away FO. Thanks! Sorry, I have to gl to class now (I ama college student, so I will check back later)
  8. I was thinking that maybe you had too much water in the recipe? Can you repost the recipe with water. lye, and FO amounts? If it hardened and gave no zap, it should still be okay to use even though it may be ugly:)
  9. I don't know if this is a help, but I use soybean oil for mine because it is inexpensive and has no scent of its own. I don't take into account the greasy factor becuase so little of the perfume oil is applied to the skin. I use 10% FO or EO blend. I am not a retailer, but I have made these and given them away as gifts for 6 years. Even at 10% some ppl think the fragrance is too strong.
  10. I am a newbie, but I just wanted to say that I have been making candles for about 7 years (soy, paraffin, and gel). I have had all of these candles soot in test burns w/o the proper wick or too much FO. I do not sell my candles right now, but I was selling during a 2-3 yesr period. I had very few people ask about soy candles, although I did offer them. Most customers preferred gel because it burned a lot longer. The other customers bought with scent or appearance in mind. Rarely, I got requests for unscented soy.
  11. I really loce this company. i live in WI, so it is great for me to get deliveries the next day! They also take paypal which is nece:)
  12. That is a really nice swirl:drool: I am wondering what you used for the colorants? Pink caly and dead sea mud? I looks devine!
  13. Thanks for the tip about the plastic inserts and the distilled water. I did use tap water when I made them, but only the ones in my house got mold??? The ones I gave my family did not. I made these 4 years ago or so and used beads from ebay to make them.
  14. I was just wondering if ayone adds a preservative to this? I made these before with water beads and they got mold in them. Please let me know if I have to do this with the knox formula?
  15. This is a cool idea- I have never tried this.
