  1. Ok nevermind that last question I think I figured it out. I think I wasn't putting the yarn in front of the work before purling. Whoops!
  2. OK another question... I've improved upon the above problem but now am having a new problem! If I knit one row, and then purl the next, when I go in to knit the next row the loops get tight! They first few loops are fine but with each one the tightness increases!! I'm wondering if I might be doing the purl stitch wrong... any ideas on this brand new fun problem?
  3. Ok thanks I'll keep practicing... it's true I am trying to stay more on the loose side with the stitching because with crochet that's what I need to do to keep my stitches even so I was avoiding being too tight. Thanks for the help!
  4. Ok I'm teaching myself how to knit with needles and without youtube I'd be totally lost but the problem I'm having is that my outside row (or I guess it's actually more of a column) is always much more loose than the others. It's the last knit of every row, I don't really know how to describe it but it makes my knitting look very bad. Anyone have any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?
  5. Oh shoot I forgot to say, that I don't think I am over cooking but maybe I am. What I read was that you should keep cooking until it doesn't look "granulated" anymore so I keep cooking and stirring until it is no longer granulated and becomes thicker like stirring petroleum jelly. If that makes sense!
  6. See, I was under the impression that you couldn't even try CP soap (for yourself) until at least 4 weeks, which is why I started with the HP. I know that it takes curing time but I was able to use it myself pretty much right out of the mold. When I put the HP soap in my mold I never came close to dropping it from boob height. More like ankle height several times. Maybe I should order the BCN kit for CP soap.
  7. That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a try, but I'll probably end up trying CP anyway! I just like that less cure time is needed for HP. But I bet once I start CP'in I'll become addicted to it.
  8. Let's see how can I explain it... it doesn't photograph well so I can't really show you. It's more chunky... like if you don't cut the tops and sides off it'll have a chunky appearance. To me it looks and feels waxy to work with... maybe I'm cooking it too long! Here's a picture of kind of what I mean See how it's all chunky and you couldn't possibly pour it smoothly into a mold but that you have to pack it in there? Well when I pop mine out of the mold it'll have holes where it didn't get packed tightly. Leaving me with not so pretty bars of soap (imho). So yeah, like you said the texture is different I guess I just used the word waxy, because I thought that would be the best way to describe it but upon further review it wasn't!
  9. Well I posted on the other thread you are referring to but I'll add more here. I tried these out and the scent throw was amazing, but shorter than regular wax melts/tarts. It wasn't messy at all, at least not in my warmer. Once it cools just wipe out with a paper towel, easy as pie. I think it would be a fun addition to any line (but I'd package them in containers with lids) and only have them available during the cooler months. But with that all said I like the little cube tray idea better! I think the little dots or cube melts where the customer can be a little more interactive with the product is a great idea.
  10. I make and sell quite a bit of incense and the one that bugs me is when other incense sellers use "triple scented" to sell their incense. Complete nonsense. Perhaps I should start quadruple scenting mine. :rolleyes2 So needless to say the whole triple scenting gimmick bugs me as well. ~Kelly~
  11. Glad I could help! I have not tried their base so feel free to let me know how you like it after you try it out. I've been tempted to try it but just haven't gotten around to it yet. ~Kelly~

  13. Dipropylene Glycol (commonly known as DPG) A colorless, odorless, cosmetic grade liquid. Mix with fragrance oil to make incense! Also works for making your own Liquid Potpourri for use in simmering pots, light bulb rings, and refreshing dry potpourri! Incense Instruction Sheet Potpourri Instruction Sheet Note: This item is skin safe. INCI name: Dipropylene Glycol It can be used in a wide variety of formulations including * Roll on perfumes * Lotions & creams * Deodorants & antiperspirants * Bath & shower products * Hair care & shaving products (excerpt from www.bittercreek.com) I'll see if I can find the online store that has a base and give you the link for that too.
  14. Some places sell bases to make or you could use DPG.
  15. I must be the only one doing HP in this CP world!
  16. I've been making HP soap on and off for awhile now (for myself) and I'm just not happy with the waxy look. Is there anyway to avoid this, or is this what you get with the HP method? I might have to try CP for the look I want... I like the smooth even bars without waxy tops, sides and bottoms! (Also if anyone is curious I made a Black Cherry (Red bottom) topped with Whipped Cream (turned brown) HP soap that turned out to be a great fragrance mix!!) TIA Kelly
  17. Thanks to who ever revived this thread. I just got back into M&P. Doris - the mold at From Nature With Love looks like it might be exactly what I was looking for!! Here's the link for what Doris was referring to if anyone is curious - http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/product.asp?product_id=moldrect&searchflag=1
  18. I just want to throw this into the mix. Some of the places may bottle up their fragrances and then put them on a shelf, over time some of the FO may evaporate out of the bottles and then by the time they reach you weigh less than they should. Suppliers shouldn't be bottling and waiting for them to sell but I'm sure that some do it. Maybe they run out of room or low on inventory and want to keep count, etc. But this shouldn't be happening just wanted to add that to this thread.
  19. I tried this out awhile back...Not sure if you can color it, but it doesn't seem to last super long in a room but it does seem to kill any odor problems. It does well as a Linen spray. You'll want to follow the recommendations from Mill Creek on how much FO to add to the base. I never had any problems getting them to mix. It is an alcohol base so it will always have that 'alcohol' smell to it, don't allow yourself to add more than recommened. And make sure you put on your labels 'Not for use on the skin!'. HTH!
  20. Lotions work better on my skin type for all over use. Butters work well on the elbows and heels but otherwise don't really like 'em.

  22. Or if you want something simple and quick, you could go with www.ecrater.com. The best way is to purchase your own domain name and then have it link to your store that way. Otherwise OSCommercise is always another option but I found it annoying to work with (same with ZenCart) and I know a little web programming. Good luck!
  23. I feel bad now! I asked this yesterday and then today I heard back from one of them and they placed their first order. Not a wholesale order but a sampler order which is a good sign to me because I always rather people try my stuff before they just try to sell it willy nilly. I think people should know and love the products they sell... but anyway I feel bad about my post now! I guess I should have just been more patient!
  24. Well they won't get anything out of me. I'm just surprised at the effort that was put into one of the emails in particular. If they aren't willing to purchase my items at retail it's not worth my time. I'll keep selling my items to people who want my super awesome stuff! It would have been nice though it they would have been real inquiry's though. But it's not like I'm willing to give away free items... I don't even give friends and family free stuff. Discounts yes, free stuff? Yeah, right.
