  1. That's an understatement! I make soap and if I ever sold something of this quality I'd die. Not that I sell, but even if I gave it as a gift.
  2. It's not the melter, it's happened to about five people in different parts of the country all friends of mine. Some using tealight melters and some electric. I don't want to say where we got them so I don't ruffle feathers...it's a web store though.
  3. I don't make candles but buy a lot of them. Some friends and I got some tarts that are doing a very funky thing. Once melted the wax is creeping up the sides of the container and drying out. It looks like vomit, and it smells off too. The tarts themselves seem dry and a bit flakey. Any ideas what's happening??? These are a parrafin blend. ETA It almost looks like it's the FO left in the bottom after the wax creeps up the sides.
  4. I tried it and it worked like a charm. Very easy too.
  5. Very cool! I never have the flavor I want it seems. That's why i spend so much stinking $ on supplies......
  6. I've made whipped shea with monoi and it turned out very nicely. I also made a massage oil with it, and have used it as the oil in my bath bombs. I love the stuff.
  7. IDA there's a buy going on right now. Send an e-mail to ancientoracle@adelphia.net her name is Nancy. I have bough this one as well as some from Lynn and from Bella Mia http://bellamiaskin.com/supplies.htm and they are all very close to the same. ETA: Bella Mia sells Pink Sea Salts that are awesome!
  8. I SB my oils every time and it works well.
  9. Thanks for the link. Foil Man has some great patterns.
  10. Try a bit of stearic or beeswax.
  11. As far as what to start with I say HP. Now understand that I am biased and love HP, but the reason I say this is because you can use it right away and see your results. I have to say there is no thrill quite like the very first time you use soap you made in your shower!
  12. My best guess is the unscented is coconut oil but produced in that region and not scented with the tiare flower.
  13. I ordered all the supplies and got to thinking............for the bottom could I use salt crystals dyed to look like aquarium gravel?? Dying them the same way you do for crystal potpourri I think it could work. That will be my experiment when I get all my stuff on Monday.
  14. I haven't actually made it yet LOL. My plan is to take an emulsified scrub recipe and sub out another butter for the coffee butter. My MIL will love it.
  15. Thank you! I thought I was the only one in the world that couldn't stand that scent. It seems people love it and it just gives me a headache. Seems like nobody ever just puts on a little of that one either.
  16. chilli vanilli is the sweet orange & Chili pepper mixed with vanilla. You could mix it.
  17. Ok I soaped this yesterday. It smells like OMH to me. maybe it will change a bit but I CPHP'd it so it doesn't usually change much.
  18. Garden Of Wisdom. She has the liquid and the granules.
  19. Thanks! She let me get in on the buy so I ordered a few pounds. I've never used it before and am curious. I'd like to use it to make an emulsified scrub.
  20. Thanks. I'll check these out. I just don't like the sweetish and perfumey water scents.
  21. Anyone know of an ocean/sea scent that is briney/salty and not perfumey at all. I need something that has that salty tang to it and smells like the beach. Thanks.
  22. I forget who carries FOH'S old Jenny's Song, but that's my favorite orange clove. Skin safe too!
  23. Where is the best place to get this?
  24. I was totally disgusted at the idea of using lard until a soaper friend told me to try it just once and even bought me a bucket! After I made soap with it and saw how awesome it came out I was a believer.
  25. Their site lists citric acid as an antioxidant, toner and astringent. Maybe that's why they're using it?
