  1. Same thing happened to me. I did a big country club last year, and it wasn't worth my time. They all kept hinting of freebies. Why can the wealthy seem so cheap?!
  2. I think, even if you don't get orders from your car ad, it still exposes you to people that you may never meet otherwise. It just keeps your name out there. My worry, my car is always dirty.
  3. It was very nice for me in my soy blend.
  4. IMHO Millcreeks is very yeasty.
  5. This is all such good advice. I had never really thought about a surcharge. I have seen them range from $15 to $25 on other wholesale businesses. I think this is something that I could consider adding to my policy. Thanks so much for your input!
  6. I got this email this morning, from a woman that owns a very busy store. She INTENDS to order in the spring. This has red flags all over it, but I don't know what a good professional response would be. I thought about a little white lie, about it's inventory time and I am closed or out of supplies. So, my inspiring friends what would you do? "Hi. I was wondering if you would be willing to sell me a small order of 10 oz or 16 oz at wholesale before Christmas? I would want non Christmas scents 2-3 of one of the vanillas, 2-3 hot apple pie, 2-3 of another scent. I know you make your living this way, but it would sure help me out so I thought I would ask. I will be placing a regular order with you in the spring. Let me know what you decide. Thanks!"
  7. I just ordered one too. *laugh* I've been looking at grocers tanks, as an alternative to a big melter, however, the price on the fryer seems much more reasonable.
  8. What about, "This is a Caro Classic"? Kind of denotes style, class, and longevity.
  9. This is what I got from Bruce at Enchanted Lites: "I'm glad you like the wax. All I can tell you about the formula is it's all natural and you and you can still call it a soy candle. Yours truly, Bruce"
  10. you had all the artwork white, with your company name centered over it? Just a black and white or make your company name in color against the white artwork. Just a thought.
  11. Since they are not consignment, they have to place the order. I already have my Fall/Winter line readay, and they will be placing an order the 2nd or 3rd week of September. I would say yes to getting me to leave, BUT they haven't clearanced out my candles AND they are preparing a Fall order. After doing a mailer, several customers have called and ordered with them. I think my display works better for her, in the smaller space. I think I am just going to have to grow some "you know whats" and confront her with it. *sigh* Thanks for your input.
  12. (I posted in the wrong forum earlier) I read this forum almost daily...OK everyday. I don't think I have posted very much. However, I really need some advice. Today I was visiting my current stores. First, one store's display, which I had provided for MY candles, was being used for someone else's bath bombs. This display is MINE purchased by me. At one time this year, she was thinking about discontinuing my candles. I told her to clearance out her candles, and I would pick up the display. I never heard more from her. We have been doing business for over a year. In their defense, they are running low on my product and haven't made their Holiday order yet, so merchandising does look better - for her. What would be the best, most professional way to handle this? Second, another store had some candles from another company on the same shelf as mine. This was a violation of our contract. If they are to carry other candles, my candles are to be placed on a separate shelf. Should I send a friendly reminder about our merchandising? Anyway, thanks for any business advice you all can give.

  14. I was told that adding equal parts of Aztec LP 402, low melt point soywax would help burn problems. At the time I used soy with cottonseed. I did not try that fix to see if it worked. I switched waxes. I can't afford a wicking, testing, change with every batch. However, it wouldn't hurt to keep that on hand if you get a "bad" batch.
  15. Thanks for all the input guys. Love this board!
  16. I have a question too. Has anyone ever mixed EOs and FOs together? Like a Lavendar EO and Vanilla FO. I know why would you want to, but I had to ask.
  17. I have heard, though I haven't tried it myself, that you can use "LP 402 (From Aztec) which is a low melt point soy.** If you mix some of that with the soy you have left, it will totally fix your burn problem."* HTH
