  1. To me Wilkas the picture you are showing looks like what will be the bottom of your pillar.  I use a small knife to trim the bottom when needed and you can also put it on a hot griddle or similar spin it around and help finish off the bottom.  If you are using pillar molds like we have then when you are pouring your pillar the open end of the mold you pour into will be the bottom of your finished pillar.  It looks like the way you are holding the pillar that what you are showing is actually the bottom of the actual pillar.   It would help to show us the complete pillar to see what the other end looks like.  Hope this makes sense!

  2. Several candle groups I am in on Facebook also are bad about bashing paraffin.  It seems most of them are soy candle makers and I really want to say something also but I just keep shut!  I did once post about the link that was here about waxes but it didn't seem to do any good.  Also seems like a lot of them are new and really don't seem to test.  You see various containers being used and you know they haven't tested them cause they seem to always say look what I found at a garage sale or similar!  Anyway I sometimes think that is why online sales are not what they used to be, people buy some of these candles and they are bad so that puts a bad taste in their mouth for ordering online. Also see a lot of jewelry in candles and some even put money.  I think what in the world, people are so gullible!  Hope no one here is doing that and if you are don't mean to hurt no feelings just don't understand it.  Guess anything to sell!

  3. Guess title is OK!  Have any of you ever weighed your

carton of wax to see if you are actually getting 60lbs?  I never had until I opened carton of 4786 today and the top slab I knew wouldn't weigh 10lbs.  After weighing all 6 slabs I come up with 57lbs.  Is it worth mentioning to supplier about?  I got this from Aztec, that is where I have started ordering my wax except for the 4625 which I get from The Flaming Candle Co on GA.  Just don't want to sound petty over about 3 lbs.

  4. I always wait to trim my wick just before I relight it and then I trim it really really close with those big toe nail clippers and try to get all the "burned" wood trimmed off.  Works like a charm!  This might help Jbrooks but don't know about the original poster!

  5. Drakkar from WSP is good.  Also Havana Nights from Southwest Candle Suppy is supposed to be an Archipelago dupe men's cologne I think - This exotic scent will transport you to Havana's natural surroundings with the scent of  tobacco flower, orange blossom, patchouli and honeysuckle also with clean and citrusy top notes of bergamot.

Forgot to add I make my husband cologne with Black Tie from WSP
