  1. Thanks for the info guys...really appreciate it!
  2. Anyone know of a site where I can buy some electric wax burners cheaper then Jackel's prices?
  3. RXCMAS: Yes, that's what I'm talking about. It's not that I don't like how they look...it's that I like to change fragrances often and so do others I know. If I, as a customer, bought the break away clamshells...I'd have to buy many of those at $2.50-3.00 each and that would limit the number of scents I would buy because I just wouldn't be able to justify the cost of them in my mind and I doubt my customers would want to spend that kind of money either. It's all a matter of $$$$, nothing more.
  4. I'm with you Mystical...I don't really dig the clam shells either. I'm thinking, and I could be wrong, that people might not buy them at the price you have to sell them for. Isn't it something like $2.50 - $3.00 for one of those? I sell individual tarts (1 oz ea) for $1 each and I have customers buying between $30-40 worth at a time because I offer a very large selection of scents and they're only a buck each...a price most people wouldn't balk at...albeit they are my sisters and are tart freaks like me but...I've got a non-family member who buys a dozen at a time from me. If my tarts were in clam shells, I don't think I'd make too many sales. I'd be interested to hear from those who sell the clam shells and how well they do with them.
  5. From the description it's vanilla with hints of floral and musk.
  6. Very pretty! I love that scent too!
  7. Another nice one! Looks like you're on a roll. Good job!
  8. Very colorful and unique! Very nice!
  9. Those are beautiful rustics! You did a great job!
  10. They're shipping costs are high no matter what...I think they tack on more for handling...they just don't tell you that on their website...or if they do, I never saw it. I'm in Connecticut and they are in Ohio so it's got to travel a fair distance. However, service has always been quick. If Candlewic (in PA) had both J223 AND OK6228 I would have purchased it from them since the shipping is much less but I needed a case of each so I would have had to have 1 case of each, shipped from two different suppliers and it would have ended up costing me more in the end...so I opted for WPS...as painful as it was. Oh, I wish I had a supplier of these waxes close to me...I can only dream about how much money I would be saving.
  11. Just got an email from Wholesale Supplies Plus that they have a wax sale going on right now. I''m so mad now because I ordered two cases of wax from them last week and paid 55.83 a case for J223 and now it's on sale for 45.76 a case! Doesn't it figure, my order arrives from them today AND THEN they announce a sale. That really sucks! Anyway...I hope someone else can benefit from the sale.
  12. Definately Vanilla Passion from Peaks...it's real strong!
  13. Perfection as always! I don't think you could make an ugly candle if you tried...at least I haven't seen one yet. Great job!
  14. AngelaVA: If your looking for a good vanilla, Peak's Vanilla Passion kicks ass! I was running very low on wax and made some tarts out of 6228 and Joy Wax. I usually use J223 instead of the Joy but had run out, so I combined the only other container wax that I had with 6228. I was worried that they wouldn't throw well because the Joy Wax is mostly soy and soy won't throw every scent you put in it like paraffin...but I tell you...they are very strong and have a lovely, smooth vanilla scent. Just thought I'd let you know. I'm not usually that fond of vanilla but I really like this one. Fern
  15. I've used not only the PQ but the F and G as well; however, I've never heard of the G-5. Hell, if I have to use an air compressor to get my candles out of the molds I don't want it. Candlewic has the plain G that doesn't require any special tools for removal. You might want to try there...if the shipping is not too costly.
  16. Awhhh...It's hard to wait for your order isn't it? I know the feeling...whenever I order from Peak, I always have to wait a week or more because they're located in Colorado and I'm in Connecticut. That's quite a distance between the two states...but it's always worth the wait.
  17. I've used quite a bit of the PQ wax and never had any problems removing my candles from the molds (I use aluminum molds). If anything, they came out easier than the paraffin candles. That wax does make a beautiful candle but the scent throw on them is not the greatest. Cold throw is awesome, but the hot throw leaves a lot to be desired..it's light to moderate.
  18. It's amazing the stuff that you find Garf. You're always out there searching for new ideas. The candles were very nice but I can't get over how expensive those extended wick trimmers are. I just can't bring myself to spend $9 for two little pieces of metal that probably cost 20 cents to make. I'll just keep using my scissors...even if I can't get a completely straight cut with them.
  19. Any straight paraffin wax (no preblends) will make rustics...it doesn't have to be 1343. As for the pouring each layer 10 degrees hotter...that's how I learned to do the layered rustics myself and you know what? You're absolutely right, you don't need to pour each layer 10 degrees hotter than the last. I have given instructions to newbies to do this but it really isn't necessary as long as you don't let the layers set up too long. I guess since the process always worked successfully for me, I just kept doing it...even when I didn't have to.
  20. Glad to know one of those places I suggested worked out for you. Regarding your mold sealer...you can get plummers putty to seal your wick pins at Wally World or any hardware store. I use plummers putty myself and it works just great...and it's cheap.
  21. LX wicks don't burn even??? They burn beautiful for me. I use either an LX-10 or 12 in my votives using 4045 wax.
  22. You can get OK6228 at Tristate Candles (West Virginia) for 52.25 per case...this is the cheapest place, but don't know the cost on shipping from there to where ever you are...and at Whole Sale Supplies Plus (Ohio) for 55.83. I believe Lone Star Candle Supply (Texas) carries it as well but don't know off hand what the price is.
  23. I've purchased many scents from Natures Garden and have been very happy with them. I get most of my scents from Peak and Natures Garden, with the occassional purchases from WSP, SOS, and Lone Star. However, WSP (shipping costs are quite steep) and SOS can be very pricey so I only buy from them if I can't find a scent I want anywhere else.
  24. OK6228 is a blended wax...meaning it already contains additives. It produces a smooth finish...can't really do rustics with them...well, you can, but they don't look like the ones you get with the straight paraffins. It looks more like wrinkles...at least that's the best way that I can describe it. In addition, it won't give you any of the white frost that people seem to be quite fond of, nor will it mottle. It also shrinks...ALOT. You'll get a huge cavern once your pillar has set up in the mold, so you will need to do several repours. However, the scent throw is the strongest I have experienced from any pillar wax I have used. It's also great for making tarts with, which I do, blended with J223 to enhance the scent throw even more, plus it makes it softer so that it melts quicker. It's a great wax and I can't stand to be without it. I start getting nervous when it gets low...like it is right now...and I've got no money left in my budget to buy more. Oh Lordy...what will I do when I run out.
