  1. Are you located in a state that gets cold weather? In my experience if I were to leave my finished candles in the cool garage I usually get bad frosting in the color. I don't suppose you can put your wax and jars in the garage?? And pour in the basement! Is your basement heated?
  2. It has been my understanding that cottons are hotter than paper.
  3. If you put your mouse on the picture of the FO at JS it will pop up with the rating for soy.
  4. I'm not sure about the stearic but BW does no good with 444.
  5. I'm not sure what the diameter is on that jar but I'm thinking your wick is too small. And should probably let it burn longer. Curing would not affect the grainy texture of the wax. I'm not sure about your description exactly either, but it sounds like soy to me!
  6. I have BSC Wedding Cake. It is awesome in soy!
  7. At the top of the messages there is a sticky for FO for soy. You will find good suppliers listed there.
  8. Good answer! Guess I'll have to try a sample!
  9. I had a peppercorn FO that wouldn't sell. I re-named it Sexy Man and the same people who didn't want the peppercorn named-one bought up the Sexy Man!! But, sorry, guess that doesn't help you!
  10. Anyone have any opinions on this new wax??
  11. LynnS, I would think you could mix the old 444 with a wax with higher melt point, like the new 444, and could be workable. Just a thought:D Beach, you could ask or request the new version when you order, put it in the comments box.
  12. Silkysoy, you can say 464 is 100% soywax, the additive is soybased also. PS Southernscentsations has good price, too on 464.
  13. I had to laugh when I read this! I also couldn't believe that my numerous thermometers all read differently when I put them all in one pot!
  14. On the bw, you may be using too much. I use 2% and know some say they don't go over 3%.
  15. I get big mushrooms with eco wicks. I like cd and premier, personally. But like was mentioned just about all wicks mushroom. Embrace them like you embrace the frosting.
  16. I mixed 464 with KY125, which I believe has cottonseed oil in it. It turned out really nice. I didn't add anything (usa) to it. If my memory is correct, (my notes are out in the garage) I think I poured cooler, around 105-110. I'll try to double check in the morning.
  17. Someone mentioned that the pill bottles you get at the drug store work good. I just started trying them so not sure, but they haven't eaten thru yet! I also have used "Dixie cups" Spartan brand, the 5 oz ones, for years. That is the only size that is waxed. I re-use the same ones for each different FO numerous times before I throw them away and even tho I have had the FO sitting in them for a while I have never had one eat thru. yet...
  18. Off the top of my head, (there isn't anything there:cheesy2: !) I think candlewic.com sells EVO dyes. Dont remember positively, tho.
  19. ooooohh, another wax to tempt me??? Was that all the hints we get? Guess I'd better go to work on it then!! Back to the original question, for what it's worth my two favorite waxes are 464 and KY125, which are both close to you, daisy, if I remember right that you are in TN
  20. I'm lost, too. What's an A and P cotton core wick??
  21. Just a comment here on the EZsoy, I haven't found a wax with as good hot throw as EZ, but it sure takes working with to get it right.
  22. Chauna, her web address is on the bottom of her message. :smiley2:
