I am getting beyond frosting in my jars. I use EZsoy and dont mind the frosty look. But suddenly I am getting large areas of solid white. I use chips from BC and liquid dyes for soy but still get this. I get vibrant colors (on the rest of the jar!!) but am thinking of going to pastel if this doesn't clear up. Help!

EZ is good to use for tarts. It's not as greasy a wax as others I've used.
I have a question about frosting in this wax. I have used it for about 2 years now and lately the frosting is so bad I'm ready to quit. The whole bottoms of my pumpkin pie and some others FO's turned solid white. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm working on changing dyes. I have used blocks, chips, flakes, liquid, soy liquid...........Help!

I have tried making votives by adding stearic and they come out way too greasy. I thought I'd save, too, but it sure didn't work out for me. I am using EZsoy along with some others, but I cry and pull my hair out, the frosting at times is horrible!

I'm worse than you! I can't tell which is which even with colored wax! So I put sticky labels on or mark them with a marker real quick before I forget!
-
I'm still working on what's my favorite wax! So I will be interested also in seeing other's opinions.

Wow, that's a lot of stearic to add to a container. That does harden wax. I tried adding 1/2 tsp. per pound for container to help with sink holes (someone's suggestion). I would say that if you used none or much less the 62 would work.

You have to click on the soy/natural wax tab itself instead of the boxes that pop up at the side. That's what works for me! You get a lot of frosting in your container wax?
-
Can't exactly answer your question!! I buy my soy pillar wax from them. I've never tried their soy container wax. I am looking for a new wax to switch to and stay with. I assume you like theirs. My biggest issue is frosting. I don't mind a little, but my candles are frosting horribly, one jar of pumpkin pie turned white all on the bottom!

I am testing these in my jelly jars and like them. There has been other posts on this, too, further down. hth

Yes, I have tested almost every soy wax there is and I have decided this is it. I have to make a definite decision about which one and stick with it. (hmmmm, till this new one comes out!)

bumping up for Vicky!!

I have been testing with these wicks quite a bit lately. I find the 765 does good in most of my jelly jars. For votives I find 740 does best. And then of course for lighter or heavier FO's I go up or down one. I do use color, tho.
-
I remelt mine all the time in the oven. At the lowest setting, 150, it melts at a low enough temp not to destroy the FO (altho I usually add a tad more). I have baked in the oven and not have fragrance in my food. Altho I usually don't bake right way.

Thanks, but I found out BCN flip top lids were 24mm and they don't fit on Peaks 16 oz. So I am going to assume peaks is the next size up.
-
Does any one know what the size is for Peaks 16 oz bottle? TIA

www.wickit.net
I am about to order some and was wondering if anyone wanted to split an order with me.
-
I had been using a palm stearic but when I ordered more supplies from another company they only had veg stearic (which I bought). I was wondering what the difference is. :rolleyes2

Jeana, two that I am testing now, Superior Soy from Southernscentsations and the soy container wax from Just Scent look good. They both have good throw and smooth appearance. I was having trouble with sink holes but someone suggested 1/2 tsp of stearic and that solves the problem. HTH

I don't know much about tarts but isn't 1 oz FO per 8 oz of wax too much?
-
I bought some flip top lids from BCN for 16 oz bottles but they were just a tiny bit too small for the Peaks 16 oz bottles. If BC's were size 24mm would Peaks be 28? Or were Peaks 20mm? Can anyone help me??!

Wet spots have been called the nature of the beast for soy wax, inevitable. As for your scent throw I think you need to cure the candle, let it sit, for a number of days. Each wax has it's own time but off hand I would say a week before burning. Unless you are just testing the wick. What kind of wick are you using? I use a variety for that jar, 51C, CD10, LX20.

daniedb, don't start with the colors! Dont let your customers get used to the colors and they'll never miss them. I wish I had started out with no colors. Now they expect them.
Vickib-liquid dyes aren't too good in soy. But..you can get liquid dyes made with a soy base (or whatever they call it!). I get some from candlesoylutions.com or northstar3c.com also have them.

Thanks! I didn't know Millcreek had a votive wax. They are fairly close to me.
(But so is EL supplier.)
(Looked up Millcreek. they are a bit expensive.......)

I can't get my old wax anymore. I have been looking at other soy votive/pillar wax. Is there any other than KY, EL or candlewic? That was all I could find that is not a paraffin blend. TIA
(anyone have opinions on EL votive wax?)
Can you recommend another soy/veg blend?

Jordan, I like this wax, too, but I get sink holes. Could you tell me what temp you pour at?![](//content.invisioncic.com/r248437/emoticons/default_confused.gif)
