  1. I did alot of promotion at directories. Places that cost about 25 a year or are monthly. faithfulfriendsonline.com, gramma frans attic, shoefly pie merchantile. I get quite a few hit on my design site from the first two. and a little less from the last (its newer) there are tons of these places. some of these places have magazine co-ops. they purchase page adds and then sell you pices of it for cheaper than what it would normaly be. these are great. I did this twice when I had the old biz and my hits and sales peaked while they were out. Since I did b and b and had baby b and b i did alot of ads on places like diaper hyena and diaper pin. basically whatever I did, b and b, candles, etc... I tried to pormote each of those thing at the most popular directories and markets. I also had craftbiz promotion do my link exchanges ( I HATE doing them lol) they do everything for ya which is great. Another thing I did which is more expensive but DEFINITELY the best thing I did was pay for craft site medic to do my main promotion. I paid for a year of it and granted it was costly but they are the reason the site is number 4 on google. they optimized my site told me what i needed to chnages and then promoted and submitted my site. best thing by far. but again im not knocking the beauty of free link exchanges. thats where craftbiz came in, they are tedious to do! lol
  2. Well I state 3 years is a good plan if sooner great right? lol It can take anywhere from 9 months to a year to get good rankings and thats with good site optimization. Not always the case but mostly. My old b & B biz turned a good profit after just about a year. with heavy promotion and search engine optimization. but only after 2 years is it #4 down on the first page of google which is great. i dont own it anymore but i still think its awesome lol I cant speak for others but the majority of my sales dont and didnt come from top sites and rings, but paid promotion. I do agree that doing link exchanges is a GREAT free way to network and promote. Ive worked with about 6 different sites/carts and diy is still my fav, maybe because its what I started with lol but i still host there cause i do like it.
  3. I personally dont buy from a business that is run through a free website such as site.freewebs.com. it throws me off, i want a actual shopping cart and a secure way to shop. The diy websites i think are great. cost is low, user friendly. Whether they generate sales imo doesnt have anything to do with it being a diy website. Promotion is key and patience is a must. I meet alot of people who are dissapointed cause theve been open a few months and sales arent great. but they dont want to spend the money on essential promotion. its always smart to have at least a 3 yr plan when setting up a site. it can take that long to break even or make a profit. especially at something as expensive as candlemaking
  4. When someone has ocd or panic disorder just having some one to talk to while you going through something like that can be a HUGE comfort. he had a dr appt and im sure his dr made an educated choice as to when to bring him in. But in the mean time he was obviously scared and needed reassuring. I think the post about if the drs thought it was something really bad they would have taken told you to go straight to the er was probably exactly what he needed to hear to calm down. I know when im scared about something ill talk to my family about it to make myself feel better but they arent medical professionals by any means lol Trust me as someone with panic disorder when your scared you dont stop and think, oh it probably doesnt make sense to post here, im sure he just thought he could get some first hand knowledge about it and make himself feel better till his appt. I dont this that is ridiculous, especially since he seeked help from a medical professional and then came here. Ill admit when You see someone say something like "am I going to die" and there asking you and you know that know one here can possibly know that answer it seems ludicris, but not from a mind that is full of worry and panic, just one person being gentle enough to say the right things in a calm manner is a huge help to stop a full blown panic attack and stay calm. I know it may not make the best sense but like I said you have to see it from the perspective of somone who has had these problems. Didnt mean to write a book, but though maybe i could shed some light on why someone might post about this. This is just of course my observation and experience from having pd and working/helping others that also have it. if your still here and reading this post I want you to know I agree with the post about if the dr thought it was an emergency he would have sent you to the er. For now Is just keep a watchful eye on your symptoms and call the dr if anything new develops. Remember the dr or er nurse is just a phone call away so just phone them up if your worried, remember that is what they are there for.
  5. I think you quoted the wrong post. ;D Ive had no problem with this wax being soft, its always like you said hard as a rock and my tarts always pop right out cause of it, its great.
  6. Really, when I pour this wax it gets HARD and i mean you cant even push in or fingerprint it up like i can with the other blends ive used. I like that it doesnt smear up my packaging to lol
  7. For web graphics I would search for web sets, then once you find a designer you like you could have them design a print quality label to match the web graphics. Some websets even come with one. Throw in keywords with your search to such as girly web set, vintage web set, you get the picture lol
  8. Adobe photoshop is design standard for professional designers. paint shop pro is a really great program, but just not as extensive, but alot more affordable. I use dreamweaver for web design, I design on a mac so ive never used front page. Illustrater is an AWESOME program. now I couldnt live without my photoshop. but illustrater creates vector art, which means you can make it any size and it will still look great, as small as a biz card to a huge bulletin board. Photoshop could do this, but the file would be alot bigger and doesnt look as good, plus once the art is rasterized you cant size up because it will get fuzzy vs with illustrator you can size up at any time. Imo illustrator is harder to learn than photoshop But if your just going to do design for web and maybe some small print projects then paint shop pro will get you by, but if this is somthing you might want to do for a long haul then Id invest in the adobe creative suite and then purchase dreamweaver on the side. or you can do what I did which is purchase the web bundle, with is ALL the adobe programs and the macromedia programs. Again pricey, but was worth it since i do this for a living lol
  9. Looks creamy like yogurt! yummm cant wait to see your cut pics
  10. My kids would love this! anything that gets the kids in the tub ;D Would also be cool in a birthday gift basket
  11. 1oz/pp has been working great for me so far. But I always start there before I decide wether I need to go up a notch or not. ive tested about 13 fo's in this wax and havent had to go off that ratio yet.
  12. I have to work a bit on some designs but after that i had planned on cranking out some tarts to test some new fo's i have till I get my refresher supplies on monday, but I went to michaels tonight and they had those cute christmas pans out so ill be playing/testing with those more than likely
  13. Well I already told you this over at the support forum, but I just love your logo! your site lookes great!
