  1. Dammit, I just bought it LAST NIGHT!
  2. Water is less viscous than Olive Oil, Honey is more viscous than both HTH
  3. Yep, they suck CS wise. I really loved some of their oils. Their loss, I would buy pretty often if felt like I could rely on them to ship my orders! But I dropped them entirely, after having to do a paypal claim to get my money back cuz they were not returning my calls or e-mails.
  4. Bummer! I do not consider myself to be allergic or sensitive, but I do seem to have a slight bad reaction to one. I was pouring a bunch of stuff that day, and i worried that maybe I had just over exposed myself in general. But then when I was heat gunning the tops a few days later, I had that same reaction to just the pink sugar. No wonder I never really liked it, lol.
  5. Can someone please explain exactly what gelling is, how you ensure that it does or does not happen? Thx!
  6. I think I can say with confidence, that in my area, an item like that would not sell, and I would be laughed at, possibly pointed at too. Definatly would not include something like that in a show jury photo, I'd be black-balled for life! More power to ya if it's working, people will buy anything, I guess. But damn, that is tacky, on so many levels, i just don't have the words. edited to say I don't intend any meanness, it's just my opinion
  7. I'm with Beth. Add FO at a hotter temp, and cool to a lower temp before pouring. 100-115. Dye is always problematic with soy, I don't use it, and agree it may be the culprit. Some FO's always behave badly, but mellow out with time to cure. For instance, Peaks lilac, at 6% sweats like a mofo and gives me horrible tops, no matter what. But after sitting around for a bit makes one kick ass throwing candle, so it's worth the hassle.
  8. I'm a soap newb but I took a class and saw it used. It was pre-mixed with glycerine to make it liquid and added at trace just like any other colorant. If I remember correctly, it was a tablespoon of the glycerine mixture for a 4lb batch.
  9. Wowzers, those look great! And hey...we're neighbors of sorts!
  10. Very pretty, Ruina! Mandarin Sandalwood?! Yum! Your own blend?
  11. Cool Beans! I live nearish to sfherb! Thank you! And thanks to all for the encouragement. I am photoshop challenged, but I will take some pics soon!
  12. Ah-soy, how'd it go? I did my 1st batch the other day, too! :highfive:
  13. Yay! We made our (my honeyman is participating, his idea, even) very 1st batch last weekend, and so far so good! It seems to have gone well, and is curing. Scented it with BB's Yuzu-which is heavenly-and colored it pink with a Labcolors mix-which came out a much darker color than expected, but so what! It's soap! (i think, lol) I took a great class locally, made our unstupidvised attempt a lot less scary. It really helped me get over my reluctance to handle lye, I procrastinated for months due to fear. Also, witnessing the elusive trace 1st hand made it all a lot less mysterious. My honey bought me this helmet-goggle thing, almost like a welding hat, which I feel pretty silly in, a bit over the top, but he's insistent. Better safe than a face full of lye burns, he says. Can't argue when it's put that way, but I think I'll be wanting some more demure eye protection very soon :rolleyes2 Ordered bulk oils, and a bunch of lye, and I'm ready to plunge in! Need some EO's-any suggestions on where to buy? Good prices, large selection?
  14. Sara is a Mod. Peaks started this board.
  15. I wasn't calling you mean, i was referring to The Nefarious Link Teaser!
  16. Just got my sample of yuzu from brambleberry, it is very nice, haven't done nothing with it yet tho, was thinking of lotion or sugar scrub.
  17. You can use a big pot for melting a lg amount of unscented base and pour out smaller portions into pouring pots or measuring cups for different fragrances and colors. Melt and pour is really easy, don't worry so much about exact measurements for molds just yet, just play. The only thing you really need to concern yourself with is making sure anything you add is body safe and careful not to overheat your base. Have fun.
