  1. ok, I hate trying to to embed and want to talk to this out.... I am putting Bible verses in them, and will decorate with flowers afterwards around the edges......... do you have to put them in a water bath to get clarity???? When ever I try this, it starts setting up so fast or using the ice cube, and I can tell wax is getting behind the paper. At this point, I remove the cube or cloth, reheat the side of the mold with a heat gun and start again, ugggg....that drives me crazy. I did one last night, poured at 200, and just let it sit on the table and when I saw it cooling, I pressed against the paper again, because I could tell it wasn't stuck, just kept on doing that until I was ready to pour the center out. (this took awhile) The top part is good, but as it goes down the paper, it gets less clear. I just want to know if I am trying to do something that will never work, and I need to just master the cold cloth, ice cube technique....if so..after it has attached, do you still need to put it in a bath??cold or warm??? thanks. I am about to give up on this and just continue doing the flowers on the outside. I am so jealous of all the pic of the perfectly clear pictures.
  2. I am having a terrible time finding a tealight wick for this wax. Everything I try gives off such a small flame. I use 4% FO. Anyone making tealights with this wax? Thanks
  3. Don't wait, jump in and do it. I said the same thing and so wished I would have done this when I first saw Donita's work. I was so blown away. She is so awesome to share her formula and take all the guess work out of it so that you can spend all your energy on being creative.
  4. the butterflies are awesome. I have thought about combining painted on affects with the dried flowers but haven't attempted yet.
  5. thanks everyone. I'm working on a Palmetto Tree and thinking of trying a lighthouse. I have been drying dragonfly wings all day, I just can't find the right plant for the body. I have started sneaking in my neighbors yards in the morning when I walk to see whats blooming..I'm the peeping plucker:cool2:
  6. I am so addicted. I have been wanting to do this for a year. I have flowers everywhere.
  7. anyone used this wax for tealights?? any wick suggestions and also intersted in burn time, hoping for more than 3 hours. I will be scenting them at 4% thanks, K
  8. I searched and didn't see any post on this unless it's called something else. I had a customer ask me for this today, I make candles and only do fun kid soaps so I am not familiar with this. Can anyone tell me about it? thanks
  9. If you want to wrap them individually, it will be hard. I have a roll that is 12" and if you make the tube, for me at least, its hard to get the votives down in it. I have tried putting them in, then making the tube, turning it and sealing each one, but they move around and its a pain. Maybe someone else knows a trick. I have wanted to try the votive tubing because when I see them in stores, they look great that way.
  10. I buy paint filters from an Ace Hardware store, 250 in a sleeve. I strain all wax coming out of my vat even if I don't see dirt.
  11. I use 4%, I have had trouble in all my wax, but love this scent
  12. I tried getting a good pic, but it doesn't show well. Its more like 1 1/2" from the bottom. I am trying a different FO, but my thought is that it is smothering being closed up in the jar? is that crazy? like no air. I only pour in tureens or smaller tumblers, but with the opening being smaller that the container itself that was my thought. I 'm sure one of "tech" people will know if that's the case. I am thinking in order to avoid this I will have to wick up and get a lot of soot during the end of the candle.
  13. Does anyone else have problems wicking the FO? I love it, but am having problems in both pillar wax and container wax.
  14. I am double wicking containers that are 3 1/4" wide and about 3 1/5" high IGI 4786 with 4% FO from CC. I have tried the recommended 44Z, tried 36z, many htp. I am getting a great burn, little or no soot, but when I get down to the last 1/3, the wicks start getting weak. I have tried trimming, not trimming. Is this the nature of double wicking? I can't get a good picture to show, but this has happened with 4 different wicks. I just expect the wick to perform the same from top to bottom, is this not the case?
  15. I am experimenting with the double wicking and am using wicks recomended here, but have found that since I am using small wicks ...when I get a deep wax pool, they start leaning. Does anyone know what I'm talking about??This was after about 2 hours, maybe 3 to 4" opening with 2 44z with 4786. Every wick I have tried so far with J223 I can barely get a good melt pool, tried 44z, HTP 41 then 83?? I am using 4% of a candle cocoon FO any suggestions?
  16. How does this sell for those using it? I just can't place what I am smelling. I poured in soy at 4% and its not terribly strong. Any thoughts?
  17. I have found a good wick for both harmony and J223, but what I have found is when the wick is large enough for a 3 1/2" container, on burns past the first one the wick will smoke until the wax pool gets large, if I wick down, the wick isn't big enough to reach the edge, is this why people use 2 wicks on larger containers? I have tried LX, CD and Zinc and I find all do this.
  18. I will post my results, I am trying 36Z, 44Z and LX 14. I used 1 % UA which was recommended by Candlescience, if this doesn't work, I will try 1/2% like suggested. thanks for all the feedback.
  19. Has anyone successfully used this wax for votives, and if so what additives did you use? I have some in the molds with 1tUA per pound, 4% FO and need a wicking suggestion, or someone to tell me to forget trying. thanks;)
  20. I have been testing 4786 with every wick out there, and even different containers. I am getting 4630 and j223 in this week, was told by the supplier that since they are softer, I won't need to wick up as much, therefore elimanating soot problems. I guess I'll see if thats the case.
  21. Am I fighting a battle that cannot be won? I want a paraffin wax that will not produce black soot on the glass. ( I am using 3.5 - 4" diameter glass)
  22. I use a CD20, the one thing that happens only in this FO is the flame flickers. don't know why. I don't find this overly strong? do you
  23. tiger lily and canteloupe is awesome in paraffin and soy, so is fairy dust and twinkle toes, didn't like herbal rosemary myself, smelled medicinial(spelling?) to me even though it says best seller
  24. I was told by Candle Science that UA is a vybar/steric mix, I will post pictures tonight of the burn, I know I need to be home at least 5 hours for that first burn so don't have time this morning.
