  1. That's okay and you are entitled to your opinion. Yes I was TOLD this and I did see it first hand. I am saying that since it did happen to me, and infact most reputable gas fireplace companies will tell you this, I saw the proof first hand. Now I'm not here to argue and I will not all I know is I NEVER bashed a paraffin candle I was just stating my opinion as you were. I prefer soy, so what, you prefer paraffin, so what. It's just a matter of preference, I never bashed a paraffin candle nor did I say I believe what is printed, as far as that goes we are all poluting the air by making any type of candle.
  2. Thanks Bill I was looking for that. I knew I read it somewhere. All in all, you can't please everyone and people are entitled to their opinions. So, if it works for you than do it.
  3. Now if I read what I posted right, I made NO mention of Soy candles being better than paraffin. The only thing I said about paraffin candles are they clog the gas logs up--which HAS been proven. I DO know this for a fact because we have 2 gas fireplaces not even 3 years old and we have replaced the logs at least once in each of them---they should have lasted a good 10 years. We WERE told by someone who has been in the gas fireplace business for 10 years that the paraffin candles are what did it--I always bought them and burned them---from a major candle company. Since gas fireplaces are a huge industry here I am just trying to save others the expense of having to prematurely replace the logs. I would never say soy candles are 100% natural becasue there is NO candle that is 100% natural due to what is put into it. http://www.candle-licious.com/html/soy_vs_paraffin.html. The only thing I don't agree with is they say the soy wax is not watersoulable. I know it is without the scent and dye because it and I think it cleans up quite nicely with hot, soapy water. Here is something about soy and parrafin candles. I'm not by any means against paraffin candles.
  4. I agree. Although soy is all I make, besides some gel candles, I can't bash the paraffin ones because the gel is petroleum based like the paraffin and I would be counterdicting myself! I do state the facts of the soy over paraffin just to let people who have health problems know there are alternatives. If someone who wanted paraffin contacted me I would refer them to someone else.
  5. Thanks so much. I will try them. I can't wait until tax time and my whole return, if any, will go for business supplies! Thanks again!
  6. Maybe as long as you don't add any additives to the wax and make sure the wick size is right. I don't make a lot of tea lites so maybe someone more seasoned in tea lites might give you a better answer.
  7. I use their jars but have never tried their FOs. We were burnt a few times on "great" FOs. So we just started making our own. I have heard others like them though.
  8. I use the C3 P1 for pillars but have never used it for votives. I use the V1 and so far, knock on wood, I haven't had problems with it.
  9. I use The Jar Store right now exclusively for my candle glass. I just love it! I hope you're happy with them too!
  10. Can anyone tell me where is a good place to buy dome shaped votive molds? I also make dripless tapers and I need to know where might be a great place to buy a variety of different sized ROUND taper molds. Any help is appreciated!
  11. Although I have had some sales for unscented candles, most of our sales come from scented candles. Now, we have always had a huge amount of sales from uncolored candles. The soy wax, depending on the FO, has a nice pretty natural white glow anyways. We have been told "white goes with everything."
  12. I personally do not like the EZ Sy wax but it might be the FO. We manufacture our own FOs. I had a customer say once that they had problems with one of our strongest FOs. I didn't understand how this could be until I did some checking into the batch it came from. I found the problem and sent her out a free replacement because it was out fault. So maybe the batch your FO came from was bad somehow. Just a thought...HTH:highfive:
  13. I use C3 and have an awesome scent throw both hot and cold. I mix a little beeswax with it to make the smooth tops. You also need to pour this slushy.
  14. http://www.jarstore.com/view_category.asp?cat=67 the jar store has 7 oz. ones.
  15. Last year someone asked me for a beer scented candle. I tried to manufacture the scent but I couldn't come close. I thought that was wierd....lol
  16. I agree with you. The site is awesome. I can understand some of it but the pop-ups are crazy---can be frustrating.
  17. If the jar has a large opening I double or even triple wick. You just have to be carefull to not over wick. That could cause unnecessary sooting and the candle might burn too fast. Just a thought...HTH
  18. Just reemeber that when you make tarts with container wax they will be sticky. I use the C3 and I love it but just for the container candles. We don't make tarts very often because we have more of a demand for the container ones. So, I'm not sure what would be a good tart wax. I know a supplier I uses makes her "so-in-demand" tarts from the ecosoya pillar wax, but I have nevere tried it.
  19. http://www.fil-tec.com/candles/ultra.html. Check out this company. It's cool because on the right hand side of the bottom of page gives you 5 different wicks to click on. With each wick you click, it shows you how the wicks look during the wax pouring process. We use Fil-Tech 2.402 Ultra Core. I just love these wicks in our soy candles. Let me know what you think. You can buy like a sample kit for like $20.00. I did that and wished I bought more!!! Tiffnie Roma Soy
  20. Wow for $100.00 I'm going to buy on right after the holidays. So tell me, where is the best place to get this pot? So this is a turkey frier?
  21. Doesn't the soy oil contain the trans-fats also?
  22. I'm with you Katie. I love C3 wax. The best scent throw and container adheration!
  23. How about something like Mystical Scents...kinda crazy...lol
  24. That's awesome. I'm glad you have had a great experience. I am hoping to do the same. I agree with the "no show" deal. There are already too many candle makers out there and I always hear how they never do very well at the shows. We are in the process of building a room ONLY for my candle manufacturing. I'm going to be "pounding the pavement" as soon as I'm setup! Good luck in the future!
