We started with vista print and then went to a local printing company who had some great offers on and did a fantastic job.We had to be careful with black and have a certain finish on the cards to avoid streaks in the colour and keep them looking smart with no finger smudges ect. I think it pays to look around coz some companies do certain offers and i like going to a printing company and dealing with some one face to face and the bonus is that when i want letterheads post its ect they just pull up the info and its much less work for me plus you get to see a proof before you waste your money on something that you dont quite like. With that said i never had a problem with vista print and its a great way to order out of office hours!!

You can get some moulds that are made of a rubbery sort of material that you could warm up first coz they can be put in the oven and freezer. If yo uwant a cheap way to see if it would work get a ice cube flexi mould from ikea for 99p and then you could look around for better moulds once u no the idea works? JMO

Yeah they are sooo expensive when i first started i went in out of curiosity and apart from one poly mould that i came out with because i was desperate i have never brought since!! Might have to go and check again to see if they have expanded the range down here!! I cant understand how people can afford to buy the wax it was about three times the amount i was buying mine for!! My friend makes jewllery and she goes for ideas but never buys from them sees what she likes and looks around else where............

Sorry scented i wouldnt know but one of the others might!! Sure they'll help you! Hey natty like the sound of the vanilla. I only need a small amount to begin with so that he can see some samples i use a vanilla scent at the mo which a lady local sells but theres 2 probs it only comes in the tiny glass tubes so it doesnt go far and that way works out expensive and secondly the throw is n't the best i have to put max amount in to get a good scent. Others are fine just not that one! As long as he likes it he wants me to stock them for his shop so hopefully i'll be needing a fair bit!! Could you let me know prices please:wink2: Dont know why he wants gardenia (or how eva u spell it) its never really appealed to me afta i smelt yankmee's - not a good reaction maybe i just sniffed a bit too hard!! Well as they say the customers always right!!!???,sometimes! i think hes going for some more traditional ideas.

Okay the fragrances my customer wants is lavender, vanilla and gardenia. They have to be good quality with a strong hot throw and gd cold throw also. If any one wants to pm me what prices you can do on what qty's that would be fab!! also afta pillar moulds so if i could get sum at the same time saves on courrier and halfs the work load -i think LOL Im personally afta some realy nice warm and rich scents for the fall so any suggestions would be gr8!! dont forget to take plenty of food water and pricelists and pens!! I've also found that people are put off if they have to ask a price so try to make sure your products are all clearly priced!! Just remember to be yourself and be happy and relaxed the more you enjoy it the easier it is to be relaxed GOOD LUCK:grin2:

OOOH it so annoys me and so contridictive as i know who their supplier for some of their candles are and am sure that alot of the other candles are parrafin!!! Was it burning in the same place? Maybe there was a draught make the flame act different? Had you trimed the wick? Really stupid suggestions but im just thinking that something must have changed and you obviously hadnt changed the candle!!

I think im gonna have to do some research on parrafin wax and how its classed as natural wax coz its always confused me as to why people dont class it as natural!! Think i might have to tempt him round to parrafin candles and wow him with some fantastic scent throws!! Thanks to you all ! x

It makes me wonder if she has had any samples sent from people who are new to this or were caught out before reading posts!! How many samples could she have gotten if u had all sent one thinking she was the real mccoy...and how much money is she making from everyone elses hard work!!! Theres no way someone who just wants a free candle or two at home would contact that many people!! My guess is that she must do it 'Professionally' and maybe change email addresses and names once shes been sussed or hit everyone and possibly starts all over again!! It wouldnt surprise me if people did things like that.

Oh my god thats expensive Nat i pay my accountany less than that to do my end of year accounts and my tax return it all gets sent to him and i just phone inland rev to check they recieve it - for my peace of mind really!! Did you know that when you register as a new employee you get someone visit you to tell you how to fill all the p45s payslips p11's ect!! well the reason i ask is because i have someone im making candles for and he wants me to consider changing to something more eco friendly and says that parrafin isnt natural but parrafin is what candles have originated from parrafin haven they? ive only ever used parrafin and it scares me to think about changing wax and maybe loosing the knowledge that i do have for parrafin!

Oh i know all about that trust me! me and my b'friend sold our house and put the money into a retail shop.Now 20 mths in and still havent taken a wage we have a company vehicle and live above our shop but its really hard. I took a part time job on top which is killing me physically and anfinding doing all this and trying to have a couple of night for candles impossible! Im kinda having to give up my p/t job coz financialy im loosing too much tax credit!! That SUCKS, but whilst my kids are happy at nursery and school and i feel that replacing my job with flexable candle time will be less stressful and give me more quality time with my family!! I know it will be stressful and very hard work but as a team me and my b'friend have a good business head and as i do all the accounts, insurance, payroll,invoicing, and organising events as well as general admin i have all of that as an advantage. i also have contacts with helpful people. I hope im not trying to convience myself!!! i know if i do this i will do it fully and it will take alot,i already go to trade shows to see what big companies are puting out there in the next season, colours, fragrances ect... I guess what it all falls down to is MONEY! im begining to hate that word, wish i could win the lottery.... does help to play it though LOL Thanks for your in put id be greatful for any more you can offer!!

Spoken to the accountant and i have three months to legally register biz here in the uk, got bank account in the process and am looking into different insurances-want to get the one thats right for me!

Hi So for the last year and a bit my candles have been a full time hobby and after having loads of fun and doing a couple of craft fairs im thinking seriously of giving up one of my jobs so that i have time to do my candles more and really push it as a business this year! But it is so hard to change it from a hobby to a business! And i was hoping some of you might have already made the change and might have one regret of how you would do it slightly different or maybe one 'word of warning'? I already have one wholesale account that i am currently setting up and another customer who would be interested in taking some products for her winter stock. so i already have some work in the pipeline.I am still working out of the kitchen at the mo so that can be intresting! LOL I know that structuring my time is a key thing but one thing im lacking is making my money go further! Any hint and tips of where to start would be sooooo appreciated!! TIA X :embarasse

Palm,parrafin or soy??? I know theres this good wax bad wax between parrafin and others but there must be some good points to parrafin and if not whats so special about the others??? Im gettin so confused and am up to my eyes in researching would be great to find out which wax makes u tick and why? TIA
