  1. I personlly agree with curing to get a stronger scent throw.

And I have testers who test my candles. I have four of them and they all agree that curing is an absolute must with my soy candles.

About a year ago I switched soy waxes and found that the new wax needed a longer cure time than my ols wax even though they were both produced by the same company. Cargils. The old wax was so much quicker at curing up that I purchased about dozen 50lb boxes from other candlers on the east coast. I began adding to the new wax and sure enough, it shaved at least one to two days off of the curing time.

I will, test my candles from time to time but 96% of the time, the testers do that work. As I've had the same testers for nearly five years now, they should know.

And I fully agree with what Mystical Angel too. Amish Harvest can go out the dor in two days where Lily of the Valley will take six days.

  2. Hello! With soy candles, you have to cure them for some time to allow the scent and wax to marry. what kind of wax are you using and what's ther F/O load per pound?

Are you making container candles with lids? Put the lid on, put on a shelf and forget about it for five days or so.

Soy must cure. No curing time will yield very little scent throw.

You could also have a case of candle nose though.

Don't worry, it happens to the best of us! :)

  3. Hmmmm Raging River Huh? I think I like that.....Thunder River!!!!!

That's IT! Or should it be River Thunder?

This scent IS POWERFUL OOB! I just dream of some guy wading out of a raft,by a Colorado River, wet T shirt that shows all the rippling muscles and energy of a 25 year old hunk with his long hair caught back with a leather thong. He's deeply tanned and has large gray eyes and a dangerous smile!!!!!YUMMY.... He could be wearing a thong ....Whoops :o Cough~ Choke

The color suggestions are interesting. A Tan with a light teal throat might work. When you do layered containers, they tend to be time consuming so a solid body with an add accent would be easier I think.

Great work Gang. I don't think I would have come up with that combination of colors! I would have done something boring like smokey Gray!

I'll have to play this weekend and try it out!

Will keep you all updated. I wish I had a Digital camera so I could put the candles in the gallery and have you guys vote but alass, I don't have one. :(

  4. I just got this scent today and won't be making testers til this weekend but I'm trying to come up with the color for it. When I smell it, I think of a silver color but I've never seen a siver color in dye blocks.

I could go blue but I already have every blue known to man and it's the same with green too.

I plan to rename it White Water or River

  5. Some of my Faves:

    Amish Harvest

    Med fig

    Mango/Papaya

    Hyacinths

    Sage Lemongrass

And I will be ordering a sample kit of ten scents.

    Here's what I'll be ordewring:

    Sweet Pumpkin Spice

    Spruce Christmas Tree

    Red Current

    Green Clover

    Georgia Peach,

    Cornucopia

    Creme Brulee

    Asian Sandlewood

    Carmel Apple

Scarey! If these all smell great, I'll be going broke for the fall and winter season! And I will have to thin my list of scents down some too I can think of three scents I can drop and that's it!

  6. I'm looking to get one too! I don't want anything bigger than a 100lb melter.

I know I'm looking at at least 1500 shipping included. I'm just wondering how much my electric bill will go up.

I too would never leave it on when I'm not home. I make soy candles and I wonder if the flaked wax would melt faster than a slab of wax.

The other thing I wonder is what sort of a plug it has. I might have to have my electricion come out and put in a special appliance outlet for it.

I will be so happy when this is no longer just research but a reality! :D

  7. When I first started selling I only had one size jar that I used, then I slowly started adding more sizes and different things in. I think it is better to have one really good product than several so-so ones.

I fully agree. I only do one size container but I do it better than anybody else! Earlier this year, I started pouring clamshells too
